I've heard of all of those mountain finishes in the past, but I can't remember what most of them are like
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

I think Denmark has to pay to much to get that start to Denmark

That's a balanced route according to Acquarone?

Less than 41km of ITT. Meh.

I've looked at the first week of the Tour, with an element of guesswork. Cavendish can easily win 5 of those if the routes go as I think they will.

As I said pictograms are wrong. You can see the correct ones on my previous post Wink

They are nine flat stages. Two of them have uphill finishes : Seraing and Boulogne. It remains seven stages but some of them could be tricky, especially Rouen (where Robic attacked to win the 1947 Tour !)

Yeah. MTF overkill (although to be fair a couple of them are hardly 'mountain' top finishes, even if they're uphill) and not enough ITT kms. I hope the medium mountain stages deliver, though.

I've got to say I'm more excited about the Tour de France than about the Giro this time. At least about the route.

Am I only one here who quite like this route? It doesn't look that bad, 3 mountain finishes, 3 other mountain stages, 2-3 hilly stages, maybe cobbles, two long ITTs. Well balanced route. And yes, I am Frandy's fan for sure. Maybe they will have way lower chances to win next year than this year, but it really doesn't matter IMO. The route is given by ASO and the best rider always wins. That's all. Smile

But yeah, Giro looks way better. Like always. Cool

Not the only one, i pretty like it too. I am happy with almost 100km's of TT and as you said the route seems pretty much balanced to me. But unlike you, i dont like Frandy and i think they will have a hard fight to be even on the podium (Evans and Bertie can make 5-6 minutes in two TT's maybe). At least they will have to attack in the mountains. Overall it seems like the nice route for Contador and that is what i like Wink
I'll be back

Totally agree(except for the contador part Wink ) I think Martin has a chance at a podium next year if he can just try hold on in the mountains.

Now i dont agree with Martin. He has been an abyssmal climber in the last two years and i dont see him getting better so much. For me, even Leipheimer or Velits will be better leaders for OPQS.

Until i see the profiles of both the Tour and the Giro i have to say that the Tour could be good and the Giro will maybe be to mountainous, but if the medium mountain stages have nice profiles I think the the route looks good on paper.

100 km of chrono is not "balcanced" in my opinion
In the Armstrong / Pantani Cycling perhaps, in modern races 10/20 km crono = 3/4 hc summit finish.
Giro 2011 was "balanced". Contador gained half @ crono and half @ mountains Smile

Actually, Contador gained nearly a minute on Scarponi in the flat ITT and nearly forty seconds on him on the mountain ITT. He gained about 4 and a half minutes elsewhere. Only if you believe that only climbing ability should really matter can you say that that was balanced - multiple insanely tough mountain stages + 30km of flat time trialing and the TT becomes almost irrelevant. My cycling history isn't great, but I'm pretty sure that at least in the TdF in the past, nearly all winners were good time triallers and pure climbers often had little chance of overall success.

Pure climber that I can think are Sastre (2008), Pantani (1998) and Pedro Delgado (1988). We will have another pure climber winning the Tour in 2018. Pfft
