Wouldn't surprise me if this Milán guy can pull yet another surprising performance out of the sleeve. It's really a good start to your team, especially since you play on extreme - the quality of the story is also top notch - keep it up!

Huge breakaway group during their journey for glory. Most notable rider was Xabier Zandio (GCE). Their advantage never came over 4´ though.
85km to go and we could see very surprising move. Cândido Barbosa (PRT) launched strong attack and started to chase leading group!
And he managed to join them just 15km later during last steep section.
20km to go, gap decreased under 1´30...
...but under 5km banner, leaders still had more than minute in their favor! Peloton, mostly led by Caisse d´Epargne failed in chasing.
Barbosa´s early move may be considered as madness, but his marvelous effort fully paid off, Cândido showed his sprinter ability and dominated in final sprint. Reduced peloton came 35" later, Milán finished 18th...

Denis Menchov with help of his strong Rabobank team will defend his 2009 title. But it won´t be an easy task, several top riders joined the race as well. Double Aussie champion Cadel Evans is here, as well Lance Armstrong, Carlos Sastre, Xavi Tondo or Ezequiel Mosquera. José Rujano received short holiday, so David Herrero will be our leader. After disappointment in Almería, Diego Milán could achieve some decent results in flat/hilly stages here.

Stage 1 San Pedro del Pinatar
Welcome at opening stage of this race! Riders will face up to 4 small but steep climbs in the middle part of stage, last 45 km is completely flat though, so we can expect mass sprint today.
76km left, BOTD just passed 2nd summit of the day with nice advantage of 6'20".
No surprise came, they were eventually caught less than 10km before finish.
1km left, Reinier Honig (ASA) and William Bonnet (BTL) were ahead, while both Milán and Herrero seemed to be blocked by other sprinters in the middle.
Neither Honig nor Bonnet, but Paul Martens was fastest in last kilometer and brought unexpected win for Rabobank! Herrero finished 6th, Milán closed top 10.

Stage 2 Calasparra - Caravaca de la Cruz
2nd stage offers interesting profile with two cathegorized climbs, following by long, but very modest descents. We can probably expect mass sprint again.
We sent Diego Milán and Víctor De la Parte into the break. Group of 10 riders established in front of peloton quickly.
Leading group shrinked to 6 riders during second climb. Both are riders stayed there together with Francesco Gavazzi (LAM), Egoitz García (CAR), Alberto Fernández (XAC) and Lluis Guillermo Mas (VMC). Peloton came over the top with loss of 3'47". Still 46km left.
20km left, gap decreased to 1'36".
10km left, still 54".
4km left, no chance for escapees, peloton had them already on touch.
Diego Milán didn´t give up and still held small advantage before sprinting peloton in last kilometer...
...only 200m left into finish line when he was eventually oversprinted. Grégory Rast brought another stage win for The Shacks, our brave hero filled the podium together with 2nd Edgar Pinto. Damn, that was really close!

3rd Stage Las Torres de Cotillas - Alhama de Murcia
Although peloton will face up to hardest climb of race, Alto Colledo Bermejo, long distance between summit and finish town will probably give opportunity to some weaker climbers to rejoin back. Or can we see completely different scenario?
Peloton was really nervous and din´t want to let anybody away. It took almost 40km when Cyril Lemoine (SAU) finally got permission to go. Nobody followed him, so he spent almost 80km alone in front. His advantage never went over 3' though...
He was joined by Ricardo Vilela at the foot of Alto Colledo Bermejo. Peloton was 1'40" back.
David Herrero attacked and tried to build some gap over the P.
Unfortunately, peloton mostly led by Rabobank riders considered him as dangerous threat and caught him (and shortly before summit Lemoine with Vilela too) easily. 43 riders came over the top together.
Nothing important happened during last 30km, only Pokerstar David Herrero stayed out of trouble and finished safely in leading group. Edgar Pinto dominated in sprint, achieving yellow jersey as well!

I think Herrero has very good chances to get more then top10,...i have the feeling that he will be on the first 3 at the end.

maybe I could start to push hardly earlier...Milán made most of the work during long descent and still felt quite fresh within last kilometres...
good and bed news - the bad is that I totally spoiled time trial...and the good is that we got WC´s for both Catalunya and Pais Vasco! Reports from last two stages of Murcia should be posted later today or tomorrow.
