mrlol
could you stop calling Jurgen van den Broeck 'Vandenbroeck' because it constantly makes me think it's Frank Vandenbroucke, which is of course very bad.

Stage 15

4 big climbs are on the menu today
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro101.png

Matej Mugerli went on a solo break over the first climb, but Popovych and Medina took over on the 2nd.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro102.png

In descending the 2nd climb, Di Luca's Giro got even worse, as he crashed
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro103.png

Valverde attacked with 4km to the top of the 3rd climb
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro104.png

He was joined by Kohl, Ricco and Txurruka. The 4 best placed riders overall all in battle.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro105.png

They pass by Medina and Popovych and with 12km to the summit, Kohl makes a move.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro106.png

Monfort leads the attacks from the peleton on the climb. Pliuschin and van den Broeck were the first to counter.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro107.png

Kohl is pulling away from his rivals, the Austrian is lookinbg very impressive.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro108.png

Riccardo Ricco has also broken free of the chase group and Valverde + Txurruka have been joined by Monfort, Pellizotti, and Van den Broeck. But what's this? Valverde is in big trouble!!!!!
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro109.png

Aleksandr Pliuschin can't believe his eyes as he and Brajkovic move past Valverde.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro110.png

I dont think the Astana team can believe it either. Kohl raises both arms to celebrate his stage victory - but will he be repeating the celebrations on the podium wearing a certain pink jersey?
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro111.png

Riccardo Ricco takes 2nd on the stage, while Monfort will take 3rd.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro112.png

Pliuschin finishes 6th while Valverde can only manage 10th. And at 4 and a half minutes behind Kohl - he has lost the race lead!

Stage 16

i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro114.png

Its a mountain TT and Perez is DFL's best performer today. Passing Cobo on his way to 9th.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro116.png

Pliuschin did not fare quite so well, he was passed by Simoni with 5km still to go to the finish.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro115.png

The consolation though is that Simoni was undefeatable today and won the stage. Danilo Di Luca was 3rd, 58 seconds behind while Bernhard Kohl took 2nd place and gained a minute on Valverde

Stage 17

Geraint Thomas went with the unsuccessful break as Stage 16 would end in a sprint. The sprint itself was fairly unorganised, could Danniele Bennati benefit from being in the relay train?
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro118.png

Yes he can! Despite being in the front for the final 2.5km, Bennati holds off Sutton for his first stage win of the Giro
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro119.png

Of the 9 DFL riders, only Uran, Perez and Pliuschin finished in the peleton.

They have a high 60/low 70 sprint stat and the best recovery of all riders in the race.

Stage 18

The final mountain stage!
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro120.png

T-Mobile have had a miserable Giro since team leader Nibali crashed out with a Broken Neck. Dario Cataldo is looking to take something from the race as he goes on a long solo attack.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro121.png

He held a large gap for much of the stage, holding at 20 minutes for a while but it inevitably began to fall.

Monfort led the peleton's attacks on the final climb
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro122.png

He was joined by the race's podium riders: Kohl, Ricco and Valverde.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro123.png

Heartbreak for Cataldo came with 2km to the summit as he is caught by Kohl, Ricco and Valverde - with Monfort having been gapped.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro124.png

Kohl is simply in top form right now, and wins the stage.

Frederik Nolf has maxed out level 4, and his stats boost means he should have a real chance of victory in the 2009 cobbled classics.

Stage 20

A 56km TT. Pliuschin shouyld be able to make up the 2'34 needed to take 6th overall from Simoni while Perez will need a good ride to avoid falling from 13th to 15th
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro129.png

Janez Brajkovic was outstanding today. When he finished, he was 1'42 better than previous best Jose Ivan Gutierrez.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro130.png

Pliuschin comfortably passed Cunego, who started 2 minutes infront of him, and would go onto finish a further 2 minutes ahead
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro131.png

At checkpoint 1, Pliuschin was 4th. 50 seconds down on Brajkovic and also behind Kohl and van den Broeck. At the 2nd check, he slipped to 7th, 1'33 behind the Slovenian but an excellent finish saw him gain a whole minute on Brajkovic, finishing in a provisional 2nd.

Overtaking Simoni is assured but as Pellizotti has been submitting poor times, the pressure is now on him if he wants to keep 5th place
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro132.png

Kohl secures his Giro victory in style as he overtakes Valverde.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro133.png
But neither Kohl nor van den Broeck could beat Pliuschin so its 2nd place for the Moldovan today.

Stage 21

16 men went on the attack in today's final stage. Including Marzoli.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro134.png

But the pack just dont like a breakaway and kept them under control, but when nearly caught Marzoli and Barlowrold's Szymyd attacked and were still ahead as the sprint began.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro135.png

As the sprint began, Tiralongo causes a crash in the peleton. Pliuschin is down!
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro136.png
Di Luca also hits the deck but noone will lose any time.

Napolitano overhauled Marzoli inside the final kilometre
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/giro137.png

And the Italian took his 3rd win of the race, ahead of the Milram duo of Davis and Petacchi. Manan finished 7th while Marzoli ended 15th.

mrlol
great stuff in the giro, 5th is realy good Grin

too bad though for Cataldo and Marzoli.. both being passed just before the finish...

and about Nolf... I think his flat and resistance skill are still a bit too low for cobbeld victory, but we'll see Wink
