Sprint started too early... But 4th is still a great result. And the jersey is really cool too. |

Really cool new jersey... How come the pic of David wasn't in it? And nice fourth, but you could have won.

@ Pellizotti - Thanks, just some nice positioning on the final hill!
Oh and thanks, I'm actually really happy with it
@ Roturn - Thanks, but I agree, although with PCM on a non-flat sprint it almost doesn't matter when you start the sprint but just who's the best and has the most energy left.
@ dienblad - Thanks, thats a good motto to go for
@ YvesStevens - Thank you, lots of nice comments on the jersey
@ Freitas - Yeah, I'm relatively happy with 4th. I thought David was going to win at one point but Geslin came going twice the speed of David.
@ baseballlover - Thank you, the reason is there isn't an actual picture of it, its just animations, so it wouldn't really look right. Trust me, I would have done it if I could. And yeah
@ Sutty - Thank you!
About the jersey, the real person you should be thanking is laidbackmarc, and I think ANFreeman too!

April 1st, 2013
March Wrap up | April Preview
Hi everyone!
Glad you could make it to read my blog again! This past month I have little racing to talk about with just one day of racing, being a classic in France. The Classic Loire Atlantique was the race, and it was my first time riding that particular race in France! It was quite enjoyable, and the result is something I am happy with, a 4th after I took the wind at the start of the sprint for a few hundred metres. I definitely enjoyed my time, but now its on to April which will be an exciting month for me!
In April I have two very big races, to compete in. My first race of the month is the Tour of the Basque Country, or as more commonly known in Europe Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco, a 6-Stage Stage Race full of hills. This is like the Punchuers Paradise of Stage Races, and the startlist should be filled with them. I'm very much looking forward to this race, although I likely wont be leader, because I feel it will be a good place to test my skills with the very best in the sport.
And after that, I will be racing Paris Roubaix before the rest of my schedule is decided. I'm also looking forward to this race a ton, because its possibly the most historic Monument of the Season. Like I've been saying the past few seasons I'm not great at cobblestones, but I feel its an area I can get better at with time, and I hope that this race can be my breakthrough.
Country | Date | Race | Class | | 05/04 - 10/04 | Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco (6 Stages) | UWT | | 11/04 | Paris - Roubaix | UWT |
Le Samyn - Russell Downing
Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 5, Overall - Rigoberto Uran
Paris Nice - Winner: Alejandro Valverde
Tirreno - Adriatico - Winner: Damiano Cunego
Milan San Remo - Winner: Fabian Cancellara
Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Winner: Rigoberto Uran
Gent - Wevelgem - Winner: Tom Boonen
Currently uncontracted for 2014
I still haven't heard any news about a new contract. I'm looking to stay here, but I also think riding in the North America Tour would be fun. Of course I love Europe, so I would want a team that rides both European and North American Races, so that greatly reduces my options. Still I like Sky and would be happy to continue riding for them.

Hey David,
Now, I know you've probably been asked this a thousnad times, but what race do you hope, when your career is done and dusted, you've won? Is it maybe one of the Canadian GP's, or a stage at Le Tour? I'd love to hear back!
-Teddy.
Hi,
Thanks for the question. The race I pictured winning before I became a pro was always the Tour de France! There is no race like the Tour. Of course now, I dont think my abilities lie in the 3 Week Stage Racing area, so I know that will never be possible for me, but I would love to win a stage in the Tour the most. I also think it would be cool to win a stage in all 3 GT's. No Canadian has done that before, so being the first would be very special. Of course I also have a soft spot for my hometown races, like the GP of Quebec and Montreal so winning those would be great too!
Thank you!

Dear David,
Do you ever wish you had a larger role on the team, or wish you could compete in a grand tour?
Hello,
I think growing up, no one trained to be the team-mate of the cycling team, but as I turned pro, I learned there are still great rewards in being a team-mate. However, I feel at this time I'm getting about as many leadership opportunities as I want. I'd also love to ride in a GT this year, and I think this year, might be the year I ride a GT!
Thanks for the Question everyone, I'll take another two questions for next month!

You could do with the first week of the 2010 Tour as part of a variant, then you could have a good chance of Yellow. |

I could picture David staying with Sky very well. Imo, the team is more likeable than BMC and personally, I don't think David really fits to Garmin, but that's just an irrational feeling
Anyway, I don't doubt you will make the right decision and even if you don't, the story will keep being awesome

@ JPH - Hmmm, well I'm not that good at editing Variants, and its not really worth it imo I think this years only has a few MTF's anyway
@ Cunego - Yeah Sky is a pretty awesome team, and I like all the graphics and things I've made for them. Plus the jerseys.... etc. I'm not sure if David fits well into BMC or Garmin, but Radioshack looked somewhat appealling despite being filled with dopers/supected dopers. However he could also go to a CT team like 7-Eleven and be the leader which also sounds good imo
@ tsmoha - Thanks, lets just hope he doesn't "mull" over an offer, although there is always the editor
Edit:
Oh yeah and if there are any questions for David.......

Question for David:
How long do you plan ride - Until you aren't able to win or until you are unable to help teammates win?
And as a possible follow up question ...
Spoiler What do you plan to do after you retire?

Nice 4th in France, you almost surprised them all. About the team for the next season, i say Sky again or some North-American team, where David will be the leader

The jersey is made by AnFreeman, I changed the colours and put the logos on it, tough.
Question for David:
Don't know if anybody else asked something similar before but who is usually your "room-mate" in Sky when you're travelling around the world? And do you have any funny gossip about him, is the barking loud perhaps?

Wow, sorry everyone. Just sorta haven't felt like reporting the next stage yet. Hopefully that jumps back into gear with the weekend.
