While sometimes it can seem like we're getting through the races rather slowly, we're actually not doing that bad, and like others have said, people [like me for instance] have things like exams going on at the moment so don't have quite that much free time to report/organise schedules.
I'm happy with the way the game's running, let's hope we make it through to the end of the season with everyone still onboard and having fun!

I wasn' trying to acuse anyone of running a bad game, and to be totally honest I went way over the top, I am realy sorry, however I dont take back the points I said about startlists, I reay think we should get our act togeather on that, however I was really frustrated at something personal, I am very sorry about what I said and I can assure you that I am extremly happy the way things work. I am very sorry about what I said I apologize. |

157km in this difficult opening stage in Catalunya. The stage finishes up a 9.6km averaging 7.7% and in the 29degree centigrade outside, this will be a very tough stage.
As the peloton reached the base of this mornings first climb, we were still yet to see a proper break form due to the high pace of Triks and ING. The first attack on the climb came from Magners Jésus Herrada.
Herrada of Magners did enough to take that first mountain sprint, ahead of Motorex' Morabito, and Christian Knees of Barrys Tea.
In terms of creating a breakaway, that climb proved the crucial point where the elastic finally snapped. 6men got clear; Mancebo(AGT), Pal(PGR), Herrada(Magners), Morabito(Motorex), Seeldrayers(Lierse) and Knees(Barrys) Trailing between the two groups was a further rider, Christophe Kern of Lunar-Industries.
Morabito was the victor on the days second Cat.3 climb. Mancébo pipped Barrys' Knees at the line for second place
Seeldrayers was judged the victor in a tight intermediate sprint as the break stretched the lead to 6minutes with 102km remaining in the stage.
Knees times his sprint to perfection on the last climb before coverage began, beating Christophe Kern who finally makes it into the breakaway group. The 3rd position goes to the ever active Morabito, who led the KotM provisional rankings before you joined us.
Welcome all to coverage of Stage 1 in the Volta Cyclista á Catalunya. You join us with 50km to go, on the lower slopes of the days penultimate difficulty, "Las Muntanyes." A group of 5 favourites have attacked the peloton and hold 42" advantage, whilst the break have 3'11 to the peloton. In this group are; Daniel Moreno(Caterham), Carlos Betancur(Fastweb), Menchov(Nintendo), Kloden(SGL-Magix) and Pryzemslaw Niemic(Tulip). Just ahead of the 5 is one other attacker, Mollema of ITV Pro Cycling.
Mollema joins the breakaway with 41km to go. The front group has 1'11 advantage over the 5 chasers, and 2'33 to the peloton.
Kern takes the top points on the climb ahead of Morabito and Mollema. The chase group has reduced the gap to just 30" Whilst Mollema's advantage to the peloton sits at 3'00 with 37km remaining.
On paper not a sprinter, Christian Knees makes use of the fact the final sprint prime is uphill to grab a the 3points on offer along with a 500euro bonus.
With 12kilometres to the summit and 15to the finish, Christian Knees leads the front group of 13 riders onto the final climb of the day with 2'28 advantage over the peloton, who are lead by ING and Allianz-BMW whose teams contain both of todays big favourites.
13km... Kern and Seeldrayers see the favourites around them in this group, and no that if they sit and wait, then either the peloton will catch them, or the guys with them will overpower them on the climb. They've decided to take the fight to the opposition with a late attack!
Triks, ING and Allianz(Sporting an alternative kit due to the reporters installing the Daily13DB and forgetting to check all the kits) are setting the pace for the steadily shrinking peloton
Betancur is setting the pace on the front of the breakaway, whose lead still holds at 2'05 with 11km remaining in the day. Peter Pal is the first man from the breakaway to crack, as Kern and Seeldrayers are caught.
10km... Kloden leads the reducing break up the ever steepening slopes of the climb, Kern, Seeldrayers and Herrada are the next to crack as the original break struggle to hold the pace of the favourites who joined them. The peloton is still 2'00 behind, but has reduced in size to just 101 men. All favourites are safely ensconced in this group, but we're yet to see any movement from the GC contenders.
7.5km... Seeing the pace behind pick up as Quintana takes over the pace setting, Kloden decides to attack his 5 remaining companions out in front, Niemic is the first to react.
5km... Kloden holds 40" over the disorganised breakaway, and the peloton have decided to let the breakaway free. The lone leader has 2'43 over the peloton, where still the favourites sit tight.
3km... Kloden passes the summit 21" ahead of Daniel Moreno. The big German Veteran is now 3minutes ahead of the pack who are just refusing to get involved today!
1700m... Kloden still has 31" over the duo of Moreno and Betancur who've dropped all the remaining men in the break. Still no reaction behind, have the main teams given up the GC on day1?
180m... Kloden celebrates with Betancur and Moreno at what he judges to be a safe distance. The breaks lead has grown once more to 3'07 and we may well have seen the races key selection here today!
The colombian Betancur has the jump on rival Moreno in the sprint for second, the duo finishing 12" behind the solo German to claim a saim time finish.
Next in is Niemic who managed to drop Mollema on the flat section beyond the climb. The Dutchman takes 5th.
Menchov manages to hold off the peloton 2'04 behind Kloden to take 6th place, just ahead of Samuel Sánchez, who sprints to victory ahead of Luis Léon in 7th. Young Frenchman Thibaut Pinot gives Caterham a second top10 in 9th spot, whilst Ruiter of ING finishes the top10.

Ah, no
Ruiter disappointed a bit.
And again Klöden?! Sure he doesn't dope?

Kloden again apparently yes
Yes im sure he didnt dope and I know these lone wins look bad given its my team when im reporting, this stage was just weird, none of the actual favourites did anything all day, they let a group go with 50km remaining and then juat rolled home

My two leaders are doing fine with one one the podium and the other one in the top 10. Great news.
Edit: And again, thank you for the fabulous report, great job.

Lame action to be honest, that summit finish could've been far more exciting.
And yes, Kloden must be doping
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

@Juszta thankyou for a non-dope related comment!
To all who want to accuse me of cheating (which is in effect exactly what you're doing) simply send me a PM and i'll send you over a copy of the CDB file so you can see that i'm not.
If that's not enough for you then you're more than welcome to pick up control and do the reports but i'm not going to lie, If you do then i'm not about to do anymore reporting for this thing. I do this in my spare time because I enjoy it. If i get accused of cheating everytime I run a stage then i'll quickly stop enjoying it and you'll lose me as a reporter. Which, given im booked for 50odd race days and most WT including iL Giro, is going to leave something of a hole to fill.
Edit: Zabel'd with another comment so F*** it here's the DB already attached.

I apologise if my jest came over wrong. In no way I was accusing you of cheating. I was only joining this site sentiment of "someone performing extremely well must be doped". The doping thing is a joke, it's clear that you used a control team in the results.
Though I can only speak for myself really, I think no one here accused you of cheating, and were only joking about doping because Kloden was doing well, not because you are tampering with the results. I'm sure it would've been the same if it were any other rider.
I really like your reporting style, so please don't let this misunderstanding lead to you quitting

Baggie, c'mon, I was just kidding
Didn't accuse you of anything, just trolling, and continuing the thing I said in my magazine, after you got my team in a (fake) argument with Veenhof. So I just 'fought' back, and this was a good reason to continue my fake accusions! It was nothing bad, sorry if it looked like that
And I agree with the others, you might be the best UCPCL reporter up to now

Great ride by Niemiec, though It's getting kind of annoying that my riders never can manage a top 3 in stead of a top 4...
You're doing a great job baggie - don't take the Klöden jokes too bad/personal. If he suddenly rode this way IRL we would probably all be talking about doping

Sorry all for my explosion earlier... I think the fact that i've not slept in over 36hours is starting to takes it's toll and as a result I'm perhaps less able to take such things as they were intended.
I want to apologise for my over the top reaction, I know they were meant in good humour, Stage 2 can be done this evening if you'd like, or alternatively I can save it for tomorrow

No problem Baggie, everyone has a bad day now-and-then. But 36 hours no sleep? You'd better save the stage for tomorrow then, go get some sleep
Otherwise, for us, it would be great if you could do it this evening

Some aggressive racing from Menchov there, shame that he was the first man dropped from that group so didn't gain any time
