Evans is still the big card imo and hopefully were gonna see his insane strength when they hit more mountains
Like last year where he cracked in the Mountain Stages that were riden??? He only mange to stay in the Podium beacuse 1 Mountain Stage was canceled and another one was softpedaled IIRC otherwise he would have ended up in 5 or 6 place. Looks like some fanboys allready forgot last year Giro
I called it that Evans would start losing time as soon as they hit the Mountains now he will be lucky if he finish in the Top 5.
I wonder where are the Evans Fanboys now and where is his insane strengh in the mountains and insane 3 week recuperation that he was going to show... Still 3 Mountain Stages to go... and place 5 is only 7 seconds away and plac 9 only 1 at this rate he will be lucky if he stays in the top 10
Rolland said on TV, post race, that there were talks of climbing the first mountain slowly but after a few km some riders started attacking, and that was it.
He denied talks of neutralizing the race any further.

Hesjedal would have been 3rd or 4th in GC I think without the TTT and you have to wonder what influence Dan Martin would have had if he hadn't crashed out.
Edit: Actually think he would be 2nd.
Not sure if it's that easy to say, he has ridden very aggressive so far. Just like Rolland, but both of them have been free to act as many riders didn't bother to react as there were other riders who were meant to be watched. From now on out, other riders have to reacto onto them. Will be exciting to see.
In any case, Hesjedal must love the Stelvio. Last time, basically winning the Giro there, this time coming back into the Giro with the descent (and of course the ride up to Val Martello).
In the past stages, I agree. If he was higher up, they might not have let him away, but I think he got about 15 seconds on the last mountain stage with that strategy, and imo it wouldn't have mattered if he was a target or not today. Quintana got away after all.
Large group of riders of about 40 or so arrives about one minute inside the time limit including Ulissi, Poels, Duarte, Arredondo and sprinters like Viviani and Nizzolo. Bouhanni's red jersey already safe
Totally worth potentially having the winner of the Giro d'Italia already decided given just how entertaining that stage was. The battle for at least one podium position is still on after all, if not two if Uran strings a few less than impressive days together in combination with some time gains by others.

There is not so many Evans fanboys as I can see...Honestly I expect that he wont be able to follow in high mountains stages...And dont forget that he is 37 years old fighter and probably his recovery will never be again as good as used to be...Despite that he is riding a good Giro considering all this facts (mainly age)..We will see where will be Nairo, Majka or Aru at the age of 37...
P.S. I would say Evans could win TDF more than once, if he had not so much badluck and If the peleton in his best years would have been cleaner..He is one of the cleanest cyclists ever despite that he was riding in such a dirty peleton...Please show some respect to him I think he is definitely worth of it....
