25th September 2011 - UCI Road World Championships
The time has come to put 'Project Rainbow Jersey' into play. Three years of planning comes down to this one day in Copenhagen.
Team GB come to Denmark with a squad built around me. David Millar will lead the team on the road, dictating the pace of the peleton, and giving out the orders to the team.
Chris Froome will help out during the stage, and alongside Millar, will form part of the lead out train at the finish.
Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift will support myself in the sprint, and will be the men who will look to catapult me to the finish.
The six man Great Britain team is compeleted by Peter Kennaugh, who will try and attack on the stage, taking the pressure off those back in the main peleton.
Mark Cavendish (HTC - Highroad)
Thor Hushovd (Team Garmin - Cervélo)
Philippe Gilbert (OmegaPharma - Lotto)
Andre Greipel (OmegaPharma - Lotto)
Tom Boonen (Quick-Step)

He's not on form! Had a poor end to the season, but he could be an outside bet

The list of favourites are the top 5 of who I think could win. Cav just because that's me Hushovd after his great ride in ToB, Griepel bacause of his ride in the Vuelta, and I picked Gilbert and Boonen because of the style of finish.
Farrar is definitely in the top 10, but I did not want to do too many pictures. That's the reason why there is no Freire or EBH

Well I would probably put EBH instead of Hushovd. EBH is a better sprinter |

25th September 2011 - UCI Road World Championships
(Copenhagen)
Here we go! The day has arrived and it is my time to shine. Three years of planning, preparation and racing has come down to 264km of riding.
The target for today is clear. Stay out of trouble, conserve energy, and when it is time for the sprint, give it all in that final 250 metres.
16km: After a steady start to the race, the fireworks started when Kennaugh (Great Britain) attacked, followed by Lauren Didier (Luxembourg).
22km: Further attacks went off the front, and soon a large group of 13 rider formed.
28km: France, Spain and Italy took early control of the peleton, quickly pulling back the large group.
34km: Kennaugh attacked again, and was joined by Stefan Schumacher (Germany), Gert Steegmans (Belgium), Danilo Wyss (Switzerland) and Allan Davis (Australia).
56km: The group of 5 built up around a 2'11" lead, before another group formed behind them.
67km: CRASH! Kennaugh hits the deck. Luckily he is not hurt, and gets back in the saddle.
74km: Kennaugh does a great job catching up to the breakaway group, quickly linking up with the second bunch, containing Martin Velits (Slovakia), Alex Rasmussen (Denmark), Chuzhda (Ukraine) and Jezowski (Poland).
83km: ANOTHER CRASH! Kurt-Asle Arvesen (Norway) goes down in exactly the same spot as Kennaugh.
112km: Italy continued to set the pace on the front, and were soon helped out by the USA and Russia.
134km: CRASH NUMBER 3! This time it is Michael Albasini (Switzerland) who goes down. He gets up a little gingerly, but is able to continue.
146km: The breakaway's lead peaked at 9'23" before the peleton began the chase.
213km: With around 50km remaining, the break was down to 2'24", and suddenly Sebastian Langeveld (Netherlands) attacked, trying to gain some time on the main pack.
223km: Well one man who will not be mix at the end is Matt Goss (Australia). He suffers a mechanical issues just as the pace is upped, and it will be last time he sees the peleton.
243km: At the 20km to go mark, the gap was down to 54", and Schumacher tried to stay away for as long as possible.
249km: 15km remaining, and all but Schumacher was pulled back, as Spain took over at the front.
253km:MASS CRASH! As the peleton enters the final lap, there is a huge pile up in the peleton. Luckily it is towards the back, but it still contains some big names, including Alejandro Valverde (Spain), Damiano Cunego (Italy) and the German lead out men Danilo Hondo, Marcel Kittel and John Degankolb.
255km: Attack Hushovd! The outgoing World Champion attacks 9km from the finish. Clearly he did not think he would win if it ends in a Mass Sprint.
159km: Seeing the Hushovd move go clear, Great Britain hit the front hard, trying to bring it back all together.
262km: Hushovd is caught with 2km to go, and as the sprint starts, I am in the prime position, with Peter Sagan (Slovakia) on my wheel.
264km: VICTORY!! I did it! Sagan just did not have enough to come around me, as he takes second, with Australia's Heinrich Haussler just taking third. I am the World Champion!
