Exaggerating much? The guy's 25...

So if he starts to be winning decent sized races at 28 (which I doubt he will anyway), that gives him 3-4 years at his peak, which is far less than most of the other riders will get.

Uh? 28 is, very usually, the age at which many riders peak (Gilbert, for instance). And there's no way to say he'll fade when he hits 32/33, look at the RetirementShack gang. Maybe he'll be in a plateau from 28-36, or maybe he'll never win anything of note, you never know, but to say that he'll be too old is just not true.

I think you will be very surprised man then in the next years, Stybar has it all what is needed to become a real champion imo, only problem is if he will focus solely on the road cycling in the future.
I'll be back

I would argue that Gilbert was already a champion before this year, but that is neither here nor there. I guess every person is different and time will tell.

with Radioshack looking for a merger (and a small number of riders)

i'm betting a Radiochack-Highroad merger (and most of the HTC boys to follow)

No. Most of the HTC boys have already signed new conracts with other teams:
Veelits, Martin to Quickstep, Cav to sky, Goss, albasini to greenedge, renshaw to Rabobank.....

Actually Goss hasn`t signed with GreenEdge yet. He is linked to Sky, too.
Also Cav hasn`t signed yet and it`s not sure that this will happen, especially not if Goss also signs there.

Some of them are rumours but I dont see Radioshack mergering with Highroad. Also Radioshack and bruyneel have a team for Grand Tours and Highroad is a team for sprints.

It was reported about a month ago. It was GreenEDGE's first signing announcement I believe. Wink

McEwen and Beppu ( RadioShack ) to GreenEdge. Another two Shacks leaving, the merger defientely looks like happening.

It`s on his homepage, too.
Biggest reason for this decision was the equipment question. He said he can`t do experiments in the Olympic year. So QST was the best solution for him. Probably due to the fact that he might be able to ride the same TT equipment, that he had with HTC as Eddy Merckx obviously doesn`t make TT equipment.
Also Holm and maybe some others from the HTC staff will be at QST.

And best thing: He won`t concentrate on the Tour next year. Wink
He is going for Paris Nice, Tour de Suisse and then probably using the Tour as preparation for Olympia instead of going for a good GC, what he wouldn`t reach. This will be Velits` job.

Don't know where you get this from, but this sounds very good to me. I like riders who know what they are good at and try to use their talents as good as possible. Aiming on a good GC in the Tour would not be a good idea for Martin. Winning smaller tours and time trails however...
