Well that was a memorable and entirely draining stage. So great to watch.

Uran did relay once Rogers had gone. It's not that he wanted everyone else to do the work, he just wasnt strong enough to go any faster

Rolland training his Voeckler face
Noway! Nairo is the big winner today, Hesjedal was brave but Nairo was brillant.
Aru pulling out another good ride
Quintana was expected, Ryder not. End of story.
Not really the end of the story but you can have it Smoku
It depends if you value, great tactics from long range to take the leaders jersey, or a very strong ride just to hang on to probably the 2nd best climber in the world.
I am not bagging Hesjedal at all, he was brave today without a doubt about that but Quintana has been unwell, lost time to his main threats in GC and just grabs the race and shakes it to pieces.
I know. Im obviously biased, so Im going to say Hesjedal, but at the same time, its hard to overlook a move as good as that was today by Quintana who clearly dominated the stage.
Hesjedal would have been 3rd or 4th in GC I think without the TTT and you have to wonder what influence Dan Martin would have had if he hadn't crashed out.
Edit: Actually think he would be 2nd.

It really was something else wasn't it, glad that they raced these climbs in the epic conditions.
Any idea of how far back the groupetto is?

He was empty. Plus you cant expect to join OPQS and think of winning GT, he has better shot at Paris Roubaix. |

well this Giro is done and dusted already, a little anti climatic, Quintana could put over 5 mins onto 2nd place by the end of it. :/
At least it was decided with such an epic stage. Only Vuelta has been really dramatic when it comes to its finishes in the last two years.
Besides that, it was pretty much decided when either Purito pulled out or when Quintana decided not to pull out. Glad that Week 3 delivered what I expected of it. Still more mountain madness to come!

If Quintana was 2'40" down before today, and gained 4'11" shouldn't the gap only be 1'31", not 1'41"? |

Ben Swift finishes an amazing 25th place, ahead of riders like Niemec and Pelizotti!

Ben Swift, 25th is a great ride, I wonder how the time limit is worked out for the groupetto?

Dan Lloyd tweeted earlier that the time cut was 40 minutes, but surely that will be extended looking at the gaps back to the first 30 or so riders. |

Not sure if it's that easy to say, he has ridden very aggressive so far. Just like Rolland, but both of them have been free to act as many riders didn't bother to react as there were other riders who were meant to be watched. From now on out, other riders have to reacto onto them. Will be exciting to see.
In any case, Hesjedal must love the Stelvio. Last time, basically winning the Giro there, this time coming back into the Giro with the descent (and of course the ride up to Val Martello).

Well that was a truly epic stage thank god the organisers allowed it to be held instead of cancelling it. Really happy to see Quintana put so much time into practically everyone, it was a great effort from him
Oh and to all those people complaining about the neutralisation (where it really wasn't his fault at all in any way) he still gained two minutes on the pink jersey in the final climb excluding the time that he gained through the descent so you really can't complain at all.

Because the situation at the bottom of the last climb would not have been a whole lot different, if he was with the others?
But still. Chapeau to Nairo untill we will know, what actually happened. Curious to see the aftermath here.
Majka was one of the few, who attacked on this climb, and way out in fact. He did an excellent job today, and I hope he will get alot more space coming into the next huge mountains, but I don't expect it.
Kelderman showing his huge talent today as well. What a ride by the dutch dude! Aru doing great as well.
Oh, and I recalled someone saying that Nairo stopped at the top of Stelvio, and for him whoever said that: Some Movistar riders definetely stopped, but whether or not Nairo was in the mix, I am not entirely sure.
