18th September 2011 - Tour of Britain
(London)
London is the destination for the final stage of the Tour of Britain, as the peleton tackles a 10-lap circuit in the borough of Newham, near the London Docklands.
A stage set for the sprinters, this will be the final time you see Thor Hushovd make an outing as the 2010 World Champion. Will he go out with a bang, or will someone steal the show...?
11km: The first attacks happened almost instantly, but it took over 10km for a lead group to properly form. 14 riders in total got in a group, looking to upset the sprinter's on their final day.
15km: The chase back of the break instantaneous from the peleton. Clearly we were in for a hard day.
34km: The large break was soon pulled back, and further three riders, including former KoM jersey wearer James Moss (Endura) went off the front.
56km: The breaks size grew to four, as Garmin set the pace on the front of the main pack, not allowing them to get more than 2'00" clear.
82km: With 20km to go, the gap was down to 34", so it was time for the hopeless, last-ditched attacks from the breakaway men.
92km: The attacks were fruitless, and the stage was set for one final lsprint finish.
98km: Garmin begun their sprint early, putting us on the back foot, and they gained the upper hand.
101km: And Hushovd sees out his year in the Rainbow Jersey with a win! Just miss out on 2nd, as Type 1's Andrea Grendene hangs onto Hushovd's wheel to take second.

@Luigi: Is that first time it has appeared in the screens since it was changed at the Tour...? Well spotted if it is! I enjoyed the Hushovd duel as well. It was really good to have it on every sprint stage, and have some competition in a race other than the Tour.
@ian: World Champs are next. The Preview is to be posted tonight...

For the story of course
I'm happy with Hushovd winning, but I had been happier with Cavendish winning.

21st September 2011 - UCI World ITT Championship
(Copenhagen)
Team GB go into the Individual Time Trial represented by Garmin's David Millar and Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky.
Millar picked up a silver medal at the World Championships in Melbourne last year, and will be pushing to go one better this year, before he turns his focus to helping me out in the Road Race.
Wiggins has had the season to forget, and has not lived up to his 'favourites' tag at both the Tour de France and Vuelta a España. He will want to do well today after choosing the ITT over the Road Race.
Of the early pace setters, it was Stefan Schumacher (Germany) who led the Provisional Standings, completing the course in 1h01'55". His lead lasted for around an hour or so, until Samuel Sánchez (Spain) smashed his time by 22".
Van Garderen had hoped for better - 1h02'43
The first of the outside favourites to complete the course was Tejay van Garderen (USA). He had showed some great form over the season, but it looks like it was one race too many, as he comes in low down on the standings.
It was a long day in the saddle for Rogers - 1h02'24
Former World ITT Champion Michael Rogers had some hope for a medal, but like van Garderen, he struggled on the stage today.
Another outside favourite, Dave Zabriskie fails to perform on the day - 1h02'02
USA's other hope for a good performance came in the form of David Zabriskie. After a few good TT wins during the season, he was expected to show himself on the course, and even he finished way off Sánchez's time.
Millar showed his class out on course - 1h00'55
David Millar really turned on the style during his ride. He came across the line in the fastest time. Was he on for the Gold?
Tuft will be disappointed after this rider - 1h02'58
Canada's hope for a medal fell to the veteran TT rider Svein Tuft, but he failed to settle on a rhythm and struggled his way through the course.
Machado ripped the form book up today - 1h00'57
Tiago Machado (Portugal) caused the big shock of the race, blasting through all the Checkpoints faster than everyone. He even caught his two-minute man Ignatas Konovalovas in the last 3km.
Evans was the first of the favourites to finish - 1h01'53
With Australian TT Champion Richie Porte not selected, the nation's hopes fell on the shoulders of Giro d'Italia winner Cadel Evans. The BMC rider started well, but faded over the last 10km, finishing 58" down on Millar.
Was the title heading to Contador? - 1h00'23
Now who saw this ride coming? Pre-race favourite Alberto Contador, fresh from his Vuelta a España victory, showed no signs of fatigue, beating Millar's time by 32", and also catching Evans in the process.
Another disappointing result for Wiggo - 1h01'44
Team GB's main hope failed to turn up on the day. Wiggins did not look right from the off, and was way down on the Standings at all the Checkpoints, ultimately crossing the line way off the medals in 12th.
The big shock: Bronze medal for Martin - 1h00'56
And so that left Tony Martin (Germany) as the only rider capable of toppling Contador off top spot, and he just did not have it in the legs. He finished the course 33" down on Contador, collecting the Bronze medal.

@Sutty #1: Hushovd had a great ToB. He was never out of the top 3 on all stages.
@Ian: You keep believing that
@Daggen: It was a good ride from Tommy to get a Top 10. He has had a quiet season with Sky.
@sutty #2: Millar is in great form. Only ridden 54 days, so he's one of the freshest left in the peleton. Should do a good job in the Road Race.
