Btw, it is pronounced: "Loui" (not "Lewis" ) "Maynkees" (not "Menchez" ).
Commentator makes it sound Mexican, "Luiz Menchez"

Awesome race! Incredible win for Mohoric, and really really good race by Meintjes as well. Can't wait for the Elite race after this.
Let me take you away the excitment by saying that Froome is there.
You mean it's not exciting to see Froome lose a race? |

No, I'm saying the race might become incredibly dull if Froome goes full retard... |

Looks like there's going to be some very interesting years ahead of us, with lots of talented riders coming from the U23s. |

The future doesn't look very bright for Spain if today tells the truth about upcoming stars. Their best rider was Ruben Fernandez, 65th (8min behind Mohoric).
Valverde and Purito better keep their level for a few more years if they want to maintain their position as the leading nation in cycling.

You are talking about the same Fernandez that won Avenir, right?
It's certainly not boding too well in terms of climbing depth, but I wouldn't go that far with my conclusions yet.

Yeah, same guy. I was thinking mostly towards the hilly classics.

It's not like Valverde, Rodriguez and Contador were stars in the U23 category. I can't actually remember a Spaniard competing for a good result in the U23 WC.

I'm surprised Sky haven't discovered this technique yet.

They were, but not internationally.
Spaniards rarely are.
The reason for that is that the structure of competition in Spain allows for a much higher level than if they went abroad to race with the u-23s. And if you want to improve, you stick to the higher level

Froome won't win, he won't even be in the top 10. Have you ever seen Froome getting a good result in a one-day hilly race?
And if it makes you feel better, my predictions for the TTT and ITT were very accurate so I'm in a winning mood when it comes to predicting stuff |

The Iranian Petrochemical jokes won't even start Sunday. They'd probably test positive by just being inside 10 k's of a tester.

Great race, left me excited for Sunday's race... Mohoric... 18 years old and what a beast he is, hopefuly Cannondale will help him with his evolution as a rider, because after today's exhibition, I really think he might be one to watch for the future. Same for Sondre Enger, shall be able to continue the Norwegian legacy and soon replace Hushovd/Hagen/Nordhaug as their favourite. And finally, kudos to Meintjes, a possible GC rider for South Africa, might be able to get some nice results in a Grand Tour in some years time, to Merhwani Kudus and Merone Teshome, two great rides from both, and to Fred Figueiredo, whom I didn't expect to finish so well today, riding by himself! |

So, Van der Poel is quite good.
Another excellent bike handler wins. Vos is a shoe in for the women's race surely.

Van der Poel could repeat Mohoric's success of Junior - U23 titles in consecutive years.
The guy is a total beast.

Seriously? IIRC it happened in France earlier this year with Garmin.
