Apparently just a few brief words.

Old/overused joke but.....steak dinner for Conta?

He can eat whatever he wants. Unless it includes a youth potion he has no chance.

Thanks for the answer. Crossing my fingers he will hit back hard.

Millar "believes" that Sky is clean (he says so) and also McEwen (not really a pro as he retired last year) said in Vive le Vélo that it's plausible.
Millar is a bloody blind mole anyway.
In 2006 he was praising the committed work of American riders (taking the counter example of the French) to justify Landis' performances.
After the TDF 2007 doping scandals, he claimed cycling was now fully clean.
Then he was certain team doping had vanished from Saunier-Duval while he was there. Either it reappeared later, either it was still there since in 2008 many of them were caught with CERA.
All that coming from a guy who got suspended because he admitted he took dope twice in his whole career.
So, if Millar thinks Sky is clean, there might be a conclusion to draw... |

That the vast majority of the peleton are still doping. |

You forgot 2007 when Astana were having this sort of performance and Millar defended them vehemently. We all know how that turned out.

Sorry to step in for Sky for a little bit, but surely we have to look at whether wind conditions impacted the times today, and back when Armstrong set his record. Not defending them, but im of the view that having full evidence before saying something brash and something like wind speed and wind direction would have a huge difference. Also was the times taken at the same point up the climb this year compared to years before?
Sad to see Cadel drop. Was hoping for a top 5. Oh well. If he got some support from his team, he could have done a bit better.

Valverde was well above my expectations today. As was Mollema and Ten Dam... Spanish and Rabobank.. hmm
Contador, TVG, Evans, Voeckler, Rolland, Pinot all massively underwhelming.
Gesink shit as expected.
Andy Schleck surprisingly good considering 1) its a race and 2) no Frank

We do know and it makes things more embarrassing, not less.
Headwind today, variable speed along the climb. No wind in 2003.

Also, wasn't the 2001 stage without Pailhères?

My knowledge of doping is terrible as you can probably tell. Would people find it natural for Froome to have such a good day as he did today, and then decline or, not ride at such a high wattage over the tour, or is it just "he was over 430 watts, he is definetly doping"?
On another note, extremely surprised at how badly Contador and Rodriguez went. |

I think the last "exciting" Tour was 2011, and there won't be another one any time soon.

Another factor to consider is that previous years were achieved later in the race when fatigue should be more of a factor. Quoting other sources without time to verify https://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...3522034028 Stage 12, 13 and 14 of the 2001, 2003 and 2005 Tours, respectively.
Don't get me wrong there are clearly doubts and questions raised by today alone but I'd like to see a few of the longer summit finishes too where climbing time is 35 minutes+ as opposed to under 25 minutes.
As I said above it's interesting that the first few riders after Froome finished roughly where you might think looking at post bio passport analysis and predictions (for what that's worth). |

Also for anyone interested in a bit of speculative theory around performance progression versus doping in the past this is an interesting read https://www.sportsscientists.com/2013/...doped.html
Basic conclusion there (as much as any can be reached) is unsurprisingly not for some time yet |

Does anyone believe the UCI would out a Sky rider if he busted positive? Not a damn chance. And Contador needs to steal Sky's crack pipe. |

For the people who question what damage doping really did/does to the sport of cycling, this thread is a fine summary read.
We'll go a long time into clean riders (if we ever have them and can measure it) before we really do lose this horrible cynicism and doubt about any strong/impressive performance. Above all; beyond the damage to younger riders, the health impact, the simply 'wrongness' of cheating that we've all experienced since childhood in any field, above all the great loss here is that there can never be greatness in cycling again, till this is undone. Everything is tainted, even where it may not be.
More and more I grow convinced this will never, ever be undone. I turned the TV off today, after watching 25 Tours on TV and attending three in person, 10 minutes before the stage was won.
It was eleven more than necessary.

Its only hard to watch as its Sky winnig again guarantee Contador done it today all the forums would have loved it. How can anyone deny that Froome as been the strongest for 2 plus yrs now, something would have happened by now, and Mick Rogers even said Saxo need to sort out their training and im sure he did not mean Clinic stuff. |
