ROUTE LOIRE ATLANTIQUE

The day gets started with a 9-man breakaway. This break includes Yohann Gene, as well as Erik Johansson.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0001_zps675f71fe.jpg

The break gets out to 5'06". Everyone seems quiet for now.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0003_zps30390586.jpg

Suddenly, FDJ slams the pace and splits the peleton!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0004_zps56576318.jpg

The gap is whittled to 2'12", and then Bardet and Cobo Acebo attack!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0006_zps10f9ba5a.jpg

Jans breaks away from the leaders and makes a 1'18" gap!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0007_zpsc5047a0c.jpg

He has 30" in the finishing straight!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0008_zps3ae388f5.jpg

All he has to do is throw up his arms! Victory for Jans!

At the start, men string away without question from the World Tour squads. 13 riders get away, one by one by one.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0003_zpsb2cf8f6b.jpg

Halfway into the race, the chase starts after a 12'13" gap. And the break doesn't want to leave that gap, so it splits! O'Malley and Grmay drive the gap further.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0004_zpsd5a6c419.jpg

By the 25 kilometers point, Levarlet and Rubiano are the last ones alive! The gap is down to 2'15"!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0005_zps2709f6ab.jpg

Is Levarlet going to solo to victory? He gets a 26" gap on Rubiano.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0006_zpsa9f0a40d.jpg

But no! Rubiano surges back and takes it in the sprint!

Very proud of the squad's March so far. Let's keep it up at Normandie!

Great result in Loire Atlantique. Not so good in GP de Cholet. Wink

TOUR OF NORMANDY

Part 1

Eight stages in lovely Normandy for Team U25. Mr. Nic Hashir has identified this as a 'small' field (in more ways than one probably Pfft), so he has set his team the realistic target of a stage win.

The Favorites

*** J. Engoulvent (SOJ)
** D. Malacarne (EUR)
* M. Drujon (BMT)

Stage 1
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage1_zps9fb5a7ac.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m1_zps1b00c6c6.jpg

A TT through Mondeville will be a very important stage for the GC favourites, as it will be one of the only stages of the tour where they can realistically hope to gain time.

Stage 2
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage2_zps0a923b2a.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m2_zps715a1570.jpg

A few hills on Stage 2, however they shouldn't trouble many riders. It will however be a good day for the riders who want to compete for the KOM jersey, with 3 important mountain premiums of which the first 2 will almost definitely go to the breakaway and the 3rd might be contested by the peloton, as it is rather late on in the stage.

Stage 3
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage3_zpsc1a87115.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m3_zps99d94ece.jpg

Classified as a flat stage for a good reason, however a bump in the road before the finish may upset a few sprint trains and disgruntle a few team managers. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Mr. Hashir won't be one of them, and he probably won't be, with the punchy ability of his sprinters.

Stage 4
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage4_zps72b851cc.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m4_zps1e843f85.jpg
Same really as yesterday, although the hills are further away and more gradual than in Stage 3. Plus, with it being a circuit, the riders should be able to get used to it by the last trip "up".

Part 2

Stage 5
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage5_zps839cfcee.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m5_zps534e66f6.jpg

Another stage which isn't really flat but shouldn't cause time gaps between the favorites. It will be a good again though for KOM points, with 3 more checkpoints in the route. By this stage we should be able to tell who the riders are who will be competing for the jersey.

Stage 6
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage6_zpseb57e5d2.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m6_zps73d7f15a.jpg

Same same really. Hills, but not enough to separate the favorites.

Stage 7
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage7_zpsdc4ac990.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m7_zps68349ddb.jpg

Again more of the same sort or route and profile. The sprinters will be loving it though.

Stage 8
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/stage8_zps0232eb8f.jpg i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/m8_zpscb520c27.jpg

For the last stage of the Tour, would you believe it? The organizers have given us........

ANOTHER SPRINT STAGE!

Still though, this one could be interesting to watch, as the jersey contenders will have obviously been figured out and each jersey wearer will be eager to hang on to their own.

So, an 8 stage tour which will surely go to whoever gets the most bonus seconds. The KOM competition looks more interesting to me than the GC really. However, this will be in favour of Team U25, as they'll be able to compete for the overall win. (Maybe)

Thank you, sir. Now I think we can start the Tour? Smile

Spoiler
Why is the start marker in Stage 8 named "z"?

Stage 1

Jason Scott sets a blistering lead time. 6'51" is going to be a tough number.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0001_zpsb82bc706.jpg

Pye sets off as the last riders are leaving the gates. Sutterlin is behind.

Sutterlin snatches the lead by just milliseconds! Will it stand when Engoulvent makes it in?

TOUR DE NORMANDIE

Stage 2

Bauer decides to go for the mountain points. Turns out nobody cares, and they let him go.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0001_zpsa425a6b2.jpg

Pye wins the pack sprint behind. The gap stands at 9'46" to Bauer and one other.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0002_zpsfbd9135c.jpg

They get swept up at 14 kilometers. The sprint trains come to the front.
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0005_zps909af127.jpg

Or so we thought! Team U25 lays waste to everyone and takes over at the front!
i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y415/Nick_Thrasher/PCM0006_zpsf7487cda.jpg

But Engoulvent charges to victory! The yellow gets away!
