Very nice gap there. Can be really useful for the GC!

A lot of one day races coming up now, I'll try to get some startlists out this week.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Welcome to the third stage of the Tour de Pologne, with the first stage in Poland of this edition. After two tough mountain stages the organisation has decided to show some mercy to the riders, with a flat stage. Of 226 kilometers. With a few hills in it. Luckily the weather does look good for the riders.

Race report

The flag is still waving and we already have our first attack. Lindeman (Vacansoleil) sets off.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1950.jpg

Serry (Omega Pharma), Dimitriou (NetApp) and Houle (AG2R) follow.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1951.jpg

5th attacker is Belkov (Katusha).
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1952.jpg

The pack however isn't too pleased with the size of the break. Garmin, Astana, Saxo and Orica increase the speed.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1953.jpg

This results in the break being pulled back relatively quickly.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1954.jpg

Quickly after being caught Lindeman, Houle and Serry attack again.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1955.jpg

The lead soon increases and we don't see any more attacks from the peloton, so it looks like this trio is the break of the day.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1956.jpg

With 133km to go and a max lead of 8m56 for the break the pack accelerates a little.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1957.jpg

With 60km to go the gap has decreased massively. Surprisingly it's only Edmondson (Sky) who makes the pace. Sky apparently seems to want a mass sprint, despite there being no dangerous riders in the break.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1958.jpg

The sprinter teams take over soon though.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1959.jpg

When the pack passes the intermediate sprint, which Lindeman had already won, the lead for the break is 2m12. We're just 33km from the line.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1960.jpg

Despite being cheered by the fans on the roadside the break doesn't battle for the points at the climb. Houle is the first to pass.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1961.jpg

With 20km to go the lead for the break is 1m12. The pack is looking at the trio already though.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1962.jpg

Meanwhile in the pack we see the sprinters gathering in front, it looks like they are ready for a mass sprint.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1963.jpg

With 10km to go the lead is just over 30 seconds, so it looks like the break isn't going to stand a chance today.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1964.jpg

And indeed, at the start of the last lap the break is reeled in. 7km to go now.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1965.jpg

With 5km to go 3 sprint trains come to the front. Astana's seems the strongest.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1966.jpg

Meanwhile in the pack we have a mass crash. Talansky and Henao are among the victims.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1967.jpg

With 3km to go we have the following situation in front:
BozicKumpAlbasini
GuardiniKruopis
HushovdMiyazawaMezgec
BennatiFenn
DebusschereHunter
Farrar
Van HummelCastroviejoCosta

i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1968.jpg

With 2km to go Albasini and Bozic start their lead-outs. Saxo's train is pushed back, so Bennati decided to pick Fenn's wheel. Debusschere and Farrar are coming to that train as well.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1969.jpg

In the back Rolland, the no.2 of the GC is spotted, in the second group. Will he make it back?
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1970.jpg

He hasn't been affected most though, as Schleck and Van Winden have to abandon as a consequence of the crash. Llanet can luckily continue.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1971.jpg

At the start of the final km Guardini has ditched Bozic and starts to go himself.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1972.jpg

Behind him the situation is chaotic and Bozic does well blocking some riders:
Guardini
BozicKruopisAlbasini
FennMezgec
Bennati
Debusschere
HushovdFarrarCosta

i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1973.jpg

Guardini is tired though, the long distance must have affected him. Bennati and Mezgec are leading the sprinters closer.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1974.jpg

Farrar has had a very good last corner and storms towards the lead though!
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1975.jpg

At the line
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1976.jpg
he takes it! Bennati comes 2nd, while Costa surprisingly completes the podium. After Mezgec and Debusschere we find Guardini at a disappointing 6th.

There are many losers today though. In the first dropped group we find Duarte (6thGC), but this group was dropped due to a late crash and gets the same time as the winner.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM1977.jpg

Rolland loses time though, coming in the third group of today. Talansky and Danielson are also in this group. This moves Mollema to 2nd GC.

Good report, we lack a sprinter, but with a few crashes it's not a bad day for us! Nice job by Dennis Van Winden sacrifising himself for the greater good Wink

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I'm not defending the game's realism but Schleck did retire during that stage!

Kiserlovski moves up to a decent position in GC at least.

I find it surprising that Basso finished in the front group. Maybe a glimmer of hope. Smile

I literally can't believe this happened, that he who must not win did actually win. Shock

Can someone tell me why I thought that I need a new sprinter when Costa (and Valverde and Castroviejo) already does that job? Pfft

I've had some free time recently, so I'd be willing to report a classic or two in the coming weeks (PCM 14). Thanks

You play with PCM12? I haven't been able to find a .cdb for that, you should probably ask Atlantius.

He did, I was just very bad at responding Embarassed

The answer is that it hasn't been made for PCM12 as there was no protests at the time about only making a PCM13 and PCM14 version.

At the first mountain sprint we already had a break established with Marek Rutkiewicz (CCC), Pierpaolo de Negri (Vini Fantini) and Dennis Van Winden. Rutkiewicz destroys his companions on the way up the climb to take maximum points.

Those two decided to feel offended and don't make the effort to get back to the Pole, which made him the only part of the breakaway. On his 125 kilometres solo ride he took four further mountains sprints and three intermediate sprints. Behind him only Spanish champ Lobato made the effor to sprint for points for the sprinters jersey and Simon Clarke who sprinted for points on the second climb. The rest of the points went to domestiques doing the pace at the front of the main field for Argos, Europcar, Euskaltel and Champion Systems. Especially Albert Timmer got a lot of points today.

This makes Rutkiewicz take the mountains jersey with a huge gap today and Lobato move into provisional second in the competition for the green jersey.
At this point with 20 kilometres to go Rutkiewicz still has a lead of 1'19''

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0303_zpsd84b838c.jpg

Then it's the current wearer of the dotted jersey to reel in the wearer of it tomorrow with 8 kilometres to go. The field is preparing for another mass sprint.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0304_zpsc1a3c8dd.jpg

It's again Degenkolb perfectly positioned surrounded by team mates going into the sprint. On his wheel are Pellizotti, Coquard, Valverde in green, Howard and Ravard. Left to that is Euskaltel doing the leadout for Lobato, on his wheel Kakhi with his leadout Friedemann, also there Oreste Ghita going for his own today. Ratto is caught between the two trains and is trying to get himself a nice backwheel. Same goes for Peeters who is just a little behind.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0305_zps64ef522e.jpg

With just above one kilometre to go we see Riblon trying it again with an early punch. The Euskaltel train passed the one of Giant and Ratto has found himself a wheel: The one of Kakhis leadout Friedemann. The Indian (and his agent btw as well) won't be happy with that.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0306_zpsb73d9206.jpg

It's going up now and Lobato already lost ground. Pellizotti at the moment in front but Degenkolb as well as Coquard and Ratto are coming fast.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0307_zps08a3f73e.jpg

Today it's closer than the days before but Degenkolb seems to be in front again and Ratto in second. Kakhi never left the wheel of the Italian. Pellizotti is coming to his limits now.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/Epicburgos/Burgos0308_zps04e2842e.jpg

That's the third in a row for Degenkolb. Ratto in second and Kakhi just beats Pellizotti for third. The Indian was by far the fastest in the end. Some more metres and he could have overtaken Ratto and maybe even Degenkolb. Coquard in fifth, he could have better cards tomorrow when the finish line isn't as much rising.
