Well, in terms of consistency, 2015 was better but 2016 had more wins, so imo this year was better.

Ollfardh - Probably, yes. Time to bring back José
rogvi97 - Thanks but it seems it's a game bug. Happen in 2017, 2021, 2022 and who knows when else.
VoetsT - Yeah, Vanmarcke was the wrong team mate for Matt...
sutty68 - Exactly. Let's make it a good season
the_hoyle - That would be nice!
baia - Then that's settled
rogvi97 (2) - Yeah, again. Really sucks
the_hoyle (2) - No, of course not. It was my sister's wedding day yesterday.
Though I must admit all these technical errors/bugs are really getting on my nerves. The story has been ravaged with them lately.
I'd like to thank everyone for voting this to New Story of the Month. Thanks a lot!

First, I want to thank everyone for their patience!
With my sister's wedding and the technical problems with the save game, I admit my motivation sank quite quickly. So thanks for everyone bothering to wait around I hope to get it started again soon, hopefully later today.
Secondly, you might've noticed I'm one of the three new admins. No matter how much I love writing this (or any other) story, my admin duties come first now. Hope you can understand that. |

2017 will be a different season for me. Unlike previous years, I haven't been presented with a clear schedule just yet. Things are wide open and the team let me know my schedule, especially my summer, will depend on the GC riders like Bozic, Porte and Pearce.
So what do I know? I will most probably start in Milan - Sanremo. I'll be definite leader in the four cobbled classics. After that, things get blurry. It's most likely I'll start in a Grand Tour, but I can't say which one just yet. The Giro seems unlikely, so either the Tour of the Vuelta.
I'll keep you up to date!
The team's changing. I'm now 25 years of age, quite a difference from when I first came here. Then I was younger, much less experienced and a true idealist in terms of cycling. This is my fourth year at Orica - GreenEdge and I've seen the team change year after year until this point, where only a few of the original team are left.
We started out as a bunch of mates, and it was amazing. Right now, the guys are great, too. They're talented, too. We've got one hell of a squad, there's no denying that. But that friendship we once had is lost, and that saddens me.
We are all under pressure, too. There are a lot of contracts that end this season, including my own, and we all know choices will have to be made.
I'm in for a tough year, I'm afraid.

I fear that if Matt really wants to go for a points jersey in a Grand Tour you should find a new team because it seems like Orica is focussing on the GC talents and that probably means there's not a lot of room for a train for you. Furthermore the departure of Roelandts seems to be a signal that the cobble classics aren't the most important races for Orica so you might have to look out for next year, but first focus on this year of course PS: Hope the wedding was nice, the pretty weather seems to have arrived a few days late though PPS: Congrats on your admin-ship also! You writing the weekly news is a thing to look forward to

Schleck96 - Let's hope so
jona500 - Perhaps you are right. The fact is that Orica is going to have to choose. But let's focus on this season first, naturally
The wedding was great, had a blast, despite the rainy weather
And thanks, I hope to be a great admin! |

You've probably been wondering where I've been. We're already at the start of March and I'm still on 0 race days. Maybe you heard some things, maybe you didn't. The truth is that I was just about to start my first race day in Portugal, when the team doctor advised me not to start because of a fever.
I had it checked out but the thing escalated and it turned out to be a virus. Right now I'm still off the bike, unable to train.
I'm slightly panicking, because I've already missed the Omloop and Kuurne, but mostly because my cobbled season is in very real danger. I'm way behind on form and I'm totally in the dark about what's going on. All I know is that I can't do any efforts at the moment.
I hope to get well soon, though!

Finally. It's been a couple of hard weeks for me, but tomorrow I'll finally get on that bike again since Il Lombardia last year. My winter was not perfect and the virus that I caught early in the season didn't make things any better.
E3 and Gent - Wevelgem came too soon for me, unfortunately. But tomorrow I'll start in De Vierdaagse De Panne - Koksijde. I don't have big ambitions here, since it's been months since my last competitive ride. I will start here in the hope to make something of my form for next week's Ronde Van Vlaanderen.

Interesting new situation that Matt's facing. Sure will be interesting to see how he deals with it. And Bozic sure was unlucky, but at least he got his win in Catalunya. He seems like a veritable beast.
And congrats on being an admir, uh, admin

Hm, not the best start to a year with contract negotations. On top of that, other guys on the team have a tremendous season start. If Matt wants to keep his captain-status and enough to support in the future, he'll have to perform at the monuments - or just go home to Belgium, like Hoyle said.

Curious to see how fast reporting will be after getting an adminship now. Good luck with that!
