Bianchi Factory Team
sutty68
Adam still with an outside chance of getting in to those podium positions Wink and was hoping for a stage win when you entered Wales Frown

the_hoyle
@sutty: Wales was not the kindest on the team. Only flat stages left as well, so no chance of a podium. Happy with the Top 5 though. Yates is slowly fading and looking like a poor choice for the WC. Simon Yates is looking in better form and fitness

Gold tot see that you could take the boni seconds back and back in the top 5 Smile

mvhoogdalem
Good to see Yates getting back 5th in GC. No #YatesforWC though it seems. Smile

the_hoyle
@baia: It was fast and good last week Smile busy weekend, but I plan to have to season finished today Wink prepare for 8 race reports Shock U25 jersey is confirmed as long as he does not crash etc, but it is 2 flat stages to end, so the GC is all but confirmed as it is.

@voets: I took more than the bonus seconds back Wink I was shocked at the lack of response from some of the GC guys on that stage

@mvh: #YatesForWC is a long shot. His young legs could let him down. Fitness should be 1/2 but after the ToB he is 4. He has a week to recover, but next year might be a better target Wink

Tour of Britain
Espom-Guildford --150.3km

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0011_zpsdeaa9514.jpg

With the GC looking like it was all wrapped up in Haytor, focus switched back to the Sprints and our battle to win the Points Jerseys to go with the rest!

Caleb knew that two wins in the last two stages would give him the jersey, so that was the plan. Let's go get those two wins!

Race Report

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0004_zpscb3fca5c.jpg

After a quiet start, a group of 7 riders attacked to form the group of the day. No major riders in the break, but UK team were represented by Wilkinson (UKY), Britton (RAL) and Sybrandy (IGS). Costa (OFM) was also in the break, looking to confirm his KoM lead.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0005_zps3e0ceeda.jpg

The break's lead peaked at 5'42", but never looked like it was going to success to the end. With 13km to go, it was caught, and the main team set up the lead out trains. Caleb was feeling good, sitting behind Lavery.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0006_zps034f5767.jpg

What a win from Caleb! He was definitely feeling good, as he comfortably taking the victory in Guildford. Stuyven (BLS) and Frapporti (AND) completed the podium, as the GC remained unchanged.

Tour of Britain
London Stage -- 88.6km

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0012_zps3aeb1f79.jpg

Final stage of the Tour of Britain, and it looks set to be a frantic finale. A fast criterium around the Embankment besides the River Thames, it is all set to be a sprinter's day to end the race.

The KoM jersey is all wrapped up, and barring crashes and/or disasters on the route, the GC and U25 classification are finalised as well. With any hopes, a victory for Caleb will confirm the victor in the fight for Green.

Race Report

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0007_zpsb12213ea.jpg

A group of 4 hit out on the final stage in London, with Richardson making himself a part of it.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0008_zpsfb62fc02.jpg

The break was only allowed a maximum of 2'06" gap to the peleton, and with 18km to go, it was all pulled back. Unlike on the previous stage, our lead out train wanted to be a the front. It was an excellent turn from the guys, and it was on a plate for Caleb.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0009_zps447d798a.jpg

Job done! Ewan finishes off the fantastic work of the team, and takes the win. Stuyven (BLS) again finishes second, with Morkov (TST) in third. The win was enough to take Green, and complete a great race for the team.

A Special Thank You...

I just wanted to say thank you to all those who nominated me for the Story of the Month award Smile It is a massive honour, and really motivates me to keep going and taking the story to the next level.

I had planned to take a small break from the story at the end of the season, maybe try a different one-man story project, but I have decided to continue with Rapha-Bianchi. Big changes are coming up for the team, and I want to get my followers involved more and more in the story, so watch this space Wink

World TT Championships
25th September 2013

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0001_zpsf2cd4389.jpg

The Elite World Championships begins with the Individual Time Trial. A flat course which begins outside of Florence, before finishing on the circuit as the Road Race.

A powerful Time Trialist should take this course in his stride, but the climb and descent within the final 15km until the end might just ruin the hopes of some.

Team GB have high hopes for the race, with Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and David Millar all making the final selection. A podium will be the minimum expectancy for the team.

Race Report

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0005_zpsdc82321f.jpg

Tony Martin (OPQ) took home the Gold Medal for Germany, after his amazing TT ride won him his third World ITT title in a row. Wiggins (SKY) finished 56" behind Martin to take Silver, with teammate Froome finishing 3rd. Pre-Race favourite Fabian Cancellara struggled all day on the bike, finishing down in 7th.

World RR Championships
29th September 2013

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0003_zpse59e966c.jpg

And so... here it is! The biggest one-day race in the Cycling Calendar. The World Championships have arrived, and it is time to see if everyone's preparation has been worth the effort. A hilly course awaits the peleton, with the likely winner to be puncheur type of rider.

Team GB come into the race knowing that the Gold Medal might just be out of reach, however, a Top 10 place is definitely not out of the question, and will show progression going forward.

Peter Kennaugh will lead the team, with support from Steve Cummings, Ian Stannard and Geraint Thomas.

Adam Yates and Jonathan Tiernan-Locke will ride in a free role, whilst Alex Dowsett and Josh Edmondson will help out as domestiques.

Race Report

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0008_zps6688e579.jpg

From the flag drop, the Italy and Belgium took control of the peleton, clearly looking after their leader's Nibali and Gilbert.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0009_zpsa4c51109.jpg

A group of 10 riders eventually formed off the front of the peleton, with the biggest threat being Niki Terpstra (OPQ).

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0010_zps6faf70c8.jpg

As the break's lead peaked at 10'07", Spain and Australia moved towards the front. With Rodriguez at the head of the peleton, Valvarde was definitely the leader for Spain on the road.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0011_zpsf80e6851.jpg

At one point, it was a disaster for the Polish team. Kwiatkowski (OPQ) hit the deck, but luckily all his teammates were on hand to bring him back into the pack.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0012_zpsbcfe4d58.jpg

A third of the race remaining, and the break's lead was down to 3'33", and the favourites behind in the peleton were really beginning to call the shots.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0013_zps2c326d7c.jpg

43km to go, and Yates attacked! He was feeling good, and with the break within 2 minutes, it seemed like a good move to try and bridge the gap.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0014_zpsc49c499d.jpg

Two laps of the circuit left, and the favourites started to show their cards! Gilbert (BMC), Henao (SKY) and Gasparotto (AST) attacked, blasting past Yates and the day's break in the process.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0019_zps3f431f87.jpg

Martin (GRS), Gerrans (OGE) and Kwiatkowski joined the lead group, and on the final lap, the winner would one from this group. Kennaugh (SKY) was trying to chase behind, with Gasparotto for company, but they were quickly running out of tarmac.

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0020_zpsf214ac53.jpg

5km to the finish, Martin attacks! Kwiatkowski is the only one who is able to react. The rest of the group were looking at each other to chase the Irishman down...

i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa348/the_hoyle86/Rapha-Bianchi/PCM0021_zps81e549ef.jpg

... but there was no catching Martin! He becomes the first Irish WC since Stephen Roche, his uncle, in 1987. Kwiatkowski takes silver, with Philippe Gilbert winning the sprint for 3rd. Kennaugh finished in 8th, whilst Yates put in a fantastic ride to finish 15th.

Great Tour of Britain results for the team, Caleb was amazing in the sprints..
Martin crashed all his opponents there.. but good 2nd and 3rd..
Great to see Martin as WC..

Great WC, shame Yates was not strong enough. Pfft

Henry did great in the U23 championships, with 2 top 10's. Smile

Nice WC Grin
