not surprised that we were eliminated as Avin told me he was 12 hours late and seeing how we only had 49 minutes. yeah no gonna happen. kinda bummed about that DNF though.
but at least I showed (again) that I'm able to finish high in these types of games, although you can consider it to be my worst finish in 7th, but a 2nd, 5th (iirc) and 4th/7th on my palmares is good. can retire with a smile

Check-In and Stop the Game Clock
At the end of every Amazing Race there is a challenge that represents
what you have had to endure over the last 11 legs. Here it is:
The question is simple: How many pages do I have in my private message inbox related directly to the Amazing Race.
How to get the exact answer is the tough part.
Take a wild guess or it can be found missing in the
final GC results of a Stage 21, Tour de France report on PCM.Daily.
In other words, the answer is hiding at the finish line.
(Hint: I'm not an Admin anymore
so this isn't as well hidden as I would like. )
And too makes things a little more intense...
The Game Clock is moving at double speed.
Every real-life minute equals two on the game clock.
When you think you got it, PM me the answer for your team.
Lastly, you can buy a number cushion for $50 each.
For example, for $50 and you guess 3 you would also get credit
if the number was 2 or 4. For $100 you get 1 through 5 and etc.
Time penalties will occur for the following:
1. For every number off the exact number. (+150 Minutes)
2. Not mentioning who will do the Detour
in same PM as your final answer. (+30 Minutes)

Sad coincidence that this road block is in Paris after today's terrorist attack there.
But that aside, good luck for this challenge for all still in the game |

Don't disturb an innocent game thread with real-life news!
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

Leg #12: Paris
Transportation - Friends Made Along The Way
For this transportation you are at the mercy of the previous racers.
For each one of the previous 16 members who have been eliminated from the race that you get to PM me on your behalf will give you 30 minutes taken
off the base score of 500 minutes for this transportation.
You can also buy extra "friends" for $100 each.
This is the last time you can use money in the race.
It is useless after this transportation.
Each member can only vouch for 1 team and they must PM me.
Voting will be open for the next 12 hours.
Detour Choices Will Be Sent Out Later Today.

The final Detour of the race. The finish line is right around the corner.
For this Detour you have to match-up 80 out of possible 237 pairs

PM me back with a screenshot with 80 pairs and a PCM.Daily tab present.
Time penalties will occur for the following:
1. I will not accept unless 80 pairs are found.

I wondered what the real detour was going to be. Not too hard with Wikipedia to find all the pairs and select them, I would guess. Just did 20 in 4 and a half minutes, so yep, that would be easy enough to do 80 in 20 mins.

After 56 days of racing, 9 different countries, and 6 continents.
There can only be one winner.
Your winner of the PCM.Daily Amazing Race is...
Spoiler
Congratulations SportingNonsense and Sammyt93!
Well deserved winners after winning the last 4 legs and 5 overall.
Here is your reward siggy along with the bragging rights.
No shame in finishing 2nd. They at least got to finish the race.
3rd place threw in the towel at the Detour
making it 4 teams who didn't complete a leg throughout the race.
However, it's still a great achievement to finish in 3rd place.
Complete results below.

Thanks so much to everyone that participated and watched.
Games like these don't work if people don't play or don't care.
I had a great time hosting once again so thank you.
I have nothing planned for another forum game in the future,
but they are fun to make and host so I'm not ruling out that
there won't be another down the road if I get the motivation.
Well, I guess that's it. Feel free to talk about the game below.
Always great to hear your feedback,
especially from the player's perspective.

Congrats SN and sammy for winning this.
And thanks a lot Mre for this fun game.
Alakagom and me unfortunately got out too early. If there will be a game ever again, I probably will join again. |

Meh, I expected this to be honest, even though I must reckon that the most optimistic expectation after the first legs was a 4/5th place. Blazing Bakaris had to be the winners, I can't see any other team that would have been more deserved winner than them, they have been constant all the game long, something that only Big Test Icicles would have done as well, if they wouldn't have fucked up everything for Alak's chilean chicks
Nonetheless, I think that we were one of the few (or probably the only one) that can be really considered a team. I mean, credits for this second place may be equally split up between me and The Hobbit. SN was just too much advantaged because of the time he spends running the site, but I must say he (or sammy, but I'd rather think that it was him) was a strong rival in all the challenges, but I'm happy because the flashgames are on our (my ) side
But well, lastly, I'd like to thank Mre for running this game in the best way as possible, as he had done before-hand with Survivor, I can't wait for the (eventual) second season. Thank you!

Thanks for running the game Mre, great job. Very nice to win it along with sammy after a bit of late-game domination.
There was plenty of teamwork in Blazing Bakaris Matt All sorts of PMs and Steam messages throughout the game to plan strategy and to co-ordinate when we would be online and also work together during road blocks and transportations. It's just luck based on the timing of an activity being posted - for the last few legs at least, it seemed they were posted at a time when I was online and sammy wasn't, rather than the many times when he was covering the forum for our team. It also helped us later on when all American players were knocked out, as we both tended to be online later than the other Europeans - as proved with the Fast Forward a couple of legs ago. We both had to be online to do it, we were, and Sammy cracked the clue to give us the easiest Leg possible.
I think I definitely figured out Travelocity better than anyone else in the game as well, as evidenced by our nice gains here in the final task.
It's a pity that 3 of the teams who made it so far ended up giving up before the end of their last leg, although it did not make much difference in the final task (well, might have been close for 2nd actually). Would have been interesting if some of the teams who looked strong early on had managed to stick around - Roturn and Alakagom in particular seemed to be the best team in the first few legs.

Yes, I guess that your "travelocity skills" kind of explain how the f**k you gained so much in the last leg in the first route info, indeed I need to know where you've found that flight
Also, yes, I guess that using a chat like Steam or Chatzy paid off, a proof is that at least 2 of those teams got into the final, that even more explains how much team game this was.

yeah I was annoyed by that too, even though Avin explained me why he didn't bother to do the detour and I completely understand why he didn't do the detour, I was still annoyed by that.

I have to admit that at times I was a bit too busy in 1-2 legs. So Alakagom did a brilliant job to save us there.
In the end he made one mistake, which saw us going down. That said last 3 weeks were the most busiest I ever had. So not sure if I had been of any big help there. |

Congrats to SN and sammyt they are the deserved winners and also thanks for running this game it was big fun, allthough it was hard sometime to be online and with a pc at the right times.

Just to defend my team, there was no chance for neither me nor Bjartne to be online at the required times in our final leg. We both were on a vacation at a place with no internet. |

Wasn't intended to be an attack or anything, so there's nothing to defend against! Can see why it wasn't possible to complete it for some, based on forum access unavailability, it just made the time spent on that leg a little bit pointless for the remaining teams, which is unfortunate.

Congrats to Bakaris, at least he can win something! The team was clear favorites to win from a fairly early stage and followed through in great style.
My comments on the game as a whole are simple. As always Mre did an excellent job running the game and i can't really fault him on that. Just that there was too much to be done on each leg and very quickly it became quite repetitive. Travelocity was always the same thing and isn't exactly a fun thing to do. Flash Games are always a pain in something like this but worked well here because you only needed to get x score to progress and any more was just for a bonus giving something to those guys with no lives.
Also had some complaints about the strong online time basis and that if you weren't around at Y time you were basically out of the race. Doesn't help Mre is in the States and most of us are in Europe. All this was known before hand of course and Mre did a good job of providing as much way around it as possible but as always it could have been a bit better in that aspect.
Anyway, Sydney is very nice right now. Not Quite Carling still hasn't got the money together to leave just yet... well that's a lie, we just keep spending it on beer and nights out. We may never see any of you again!
