Imagine Carlo racing alongside Fabio one day. Obviously, Fabio as the new Jens Voigt |

And it's a big one...
Spoiler Rohan Dennis
Rohan Dennis is an up and coming Australian Stage Racer. He is absolutely deadly in any form of Time Trial, and also very good on the mountains and hills. A great addition to the team.

Tour de France
Another good chance for me to get a good result, so hopefully I can improve on yesterday.
The break got away. Talabardon took the solitary point from the first KoM sprint and I think LL Sanchez just beat Alessandro de Marchi.
Sanchez then took the Intermediate Sprint with the Italian last again.
A possible stage winner, Michal Kwiatkowski, crashes with 35km to go.
KoM 2 - Cat. 4
1. Talabardon // 2. Sanchez // 3. De Marchi
Some more high tempo on this stage meant that again our numbers were greatly reduced. With 9km to go - after the final climb - it was the same two up front for us again.
With Sanchez the last to be caught 3.5km out, Virgilijus was trying to stick with the Omega-Pharma train, while I was in his wheel, not able to get anywhere.
I faded, and this ended up being a good thing. My friend got blocked in all the chaos up front, while I found an open lane and went through it. 10th place for me with Grazhys 12th. Cavendish wins it ahead of Demare.
So a good stage for me. A Top 10 is always great, even on a sprint stage.
Now to find that boy...
Fabio

I wouldn't say I'm an unpopluar rider, but it wasn't exactly hard to find the "Go Melani" sign that belonged to my young fan out of the huge total of 1. Upon seeing him, I was relieved to see that my worst fear had been expelled - the boy - was in fact a boy, not a creepy 50 year old. I had a conversation with him in Spanish which I have translated for you.
Carlo: Oh my god! Fabio Melani! I can't believe it!
Me: Good to see you, mate. So you're Carlo Perez?
C: Yes. As I said in my letter, I am 9 years old and big fan of yours. I am very poor. I have only a bike, a pair of shoes, a bit of clothes and a small house.
M: Sorry to hear that, man.
C: You probably wonder how I am here if I am so poor, well I won the Melani Tour competition. Of course you know what that is.
M: Wow, they've really gotta start telling me about these things. Sorry mate, what is it?
C: You write in 50 words why we want to see you at the Tour and the winner gets a trip for 2 to the Tour.
M: Wow good job! How do you get around?
C: I ride with my brother the route of the Tour so we can watch you at the finish.
M: What!? That's crazy! You've ridden the whole Tour route so far!?
C: Kind of. We went around the mountains, and nowhere near as fast.
M: And where's your brother?
C: He's resting at home. I'm here with some friends we made.
M: That's cool. Listen, I've got to go, but I have an idea. I'll ask the team staff guys if you and your brother can ride in a team car for the rest of the Tour.
C: Oh wow! You're the greatest!
M: Actually, one more thing. Whenever I have a break from racing, I'll come back to Argentina and we can train together. You can be my apprentice. How about that?
C: What!? Are you serious!? Thank you so much, you're even greater than I imagined!
Just seeing the big grin on his face as I walked away made me feel great inside, and I couldn't wait to see him again.

Thanks guys for all the support and in the midst of all this we've reached 15,000 views! I can't say how happy I am to be behind this and I can safely say I never expected to be so successful - especially after my first story failure. I love writing for you guys but I think the most satisfying thing is seeing people write comments. Any comments, whether it's the usual "Good race by Fabio" or the unique "I've just read this whole story and I love it" and everything in between makes me feel so great.
Hobbit: Hopefully And it's always good to have some nice people And I like the idea of a Carlo story
Sky: Thanks I don't think that there's any real competition between me and Pinot - he's way better.
Matt: Great stuff

Tour de France
Game for some reason skipped the day. I finished 100th at 5'41 which really hurts my GC hopes at 75th, behind by 6'55.
The last flat stage before we hit the mountains. It will be important not to exert myself here.
The break consisted of 4 riders. They went over the first climb in the order of Gilbert, Voigt, Navardauskas and Kolobnev.
KoM 2 - Cat 4
1. Navardauskas
KoM 3 - Cat 4
1. Gilbert
The pace was hot at the front - so again it was hard to stay in position.
Grazhys and I were again the only ones up front for our team. He tried to follow Cavendish, which was proving extremely tiring. Meanwhile, I paced myself at the front, without a wheel.
He was completely dead with 5km to go, and Gilbert was still out front alone, with 1'18.
Virgilijus was tired, and couldn't keep a wheel. He had to start his sprint from way back.
I tried to follow the sprinters but I was dead at 1.5km left.
There was no stopping Phillipe Gilbert as he took the win for BMC.
I beat my teammate but it was for nothing. The Manx Missile took 2nd with Demare 3rd.
The mountains come next, and I can't wait! See you there,
Fabio
