How much did he lose to Nibali in the TTT? Usually Liquigas do at pretty bad job at those...

francopell: Oh he's good. He's past results were always close but never the win. But now he's like 83 MO, 82 HILL, 76 TT, 81 REC.
Wild Dog: Hope so
Atlantius: He's about 50s behind Nibbles.
ste_18: Thanks
Daggen: I hope not. He's strong, but so is Roberto!
andy222c: Thanks mate! |

Nibali will be a very tough adversary with stats like that He's better than Contador all those seasons ago... |

Nibali is one of my favourite riders as well but I'm supporting Roberto
Fuglsang or Kreuziger might be dangerous too if they have a few good days... |

francopell: Yeah, I gotta admit I really loved Nibali in this year's tour so I edited his (max) stats. So he grew out one of the best GC riders on the game. He'll have the edge because it's his territory! Roberto will be on the look-out for a bad day. |

50 seconds is not impossible. After all the Giro have bonus seconds in the sprints as well, and I think Roberto can outsprint Nibali

TimoCycling: Thanks
Atlantius: Boniseconds will come in handy against Nibali!
JuanMotr: Thanks, I think so, too
francopell: Looking at the climbing (TT not included), there are several riders at the same level: Roberto, Nibali, Froome, Contador and Schleck. Just a level below are Van Den Broeck, Rolland, Gesink, Mollema, Pinot, Uran and Kreuziger. Those are the main climbers/GT riders in 2014 |

Giro d'Italia 2014 - First Mountain Stage
The first real test in Italy's mountains for Roberto since his Tirreno - Adriatico.
Nibali felt good, and his team showed this.
There were quite some attacks on the final climb, but surprisingly Roberto was taking it easy.
It wasn't until Nibali decided to go that Roberto got up and moved along.
Mollema took the win on top, while Roberto outsprinted Nibali for the 5th place.
Result
1 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | 5h46'16 | | 2 | Roman Kreuziger | Astana Pro Team | + 9 | | 3 | Sergio Luis Henao | Sky Pro Cycling | + 28 | | 4 | Sergio Pardilla | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 5 | Roberto Velásquez | Colombia Coldeportes | s.t. | IanButler | 6 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | s.t. | | 7 | Tiago Machado | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 8 | Dario Cataldo | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | s.t. | | 9 | Rigoberto Uran | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | | 10 | Gianluca Brambilla | Colnago - CSF Inox | s.t.
General Classification
1 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | 23h58'16 | | 2 | Roman Kreuziger | Astana Pro Team | + 6 | | 3 | Jakob Fuglsang | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 1'25 | | 4 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | s.t. | | 5 | Gianluca Brambilla | Colnago - CSF Inox | + 2'08 | | 6 | Roberto Velásquez | Colombia Coldeportes | + 2'14 | IanButler | 7 | Ignatas Konovalovas | Movistar Team | + 2'33 | | 8 | Johny Piqué | Sky Pro Cycling | + 2'43 | | 9 | Mathieu Ladagnous | FDJ-BigMat | + 2'48 | | 10 | Damiano Cunego | Sky Pro Cycling | + 3'10
For the first time in this Giro, we heard from Roberto himself:
Obviously, I'm concentrating on Nibali. I think he'll be the key to winning this Giro. I see him as absolute favorite. I count myself an outsider, along with Mollema, who's grown a lot over the years, and Kreuziger, who's in his prime years in my opinion.
I'm putting everything on the General Classification, so I decided to stay close to Nibali. I won't react on every attack and stage win is not as important as the whole picture. But I won't deny I'm not hoping for a stage win, though. I hope to see more of this aggressive riding tomorrow, I really admire that in Nibali, it's fun to race against him.
This is my first real test against a truly great grand tour rider, a grand tour winner. I'm looking forward to tomorrow! |

Steady start from Roberto.
I sure hope Mollema will weaken. He could be dangerous... |

Yay! Mollema! If only he did this in real life...
Good tactic to stay with Nibali! |

I think Roberto will improve, for sure. If he doesn't lose time it will be really great. |
