After a looong offseason, we've finally arrived at the last stop before kicking of the season. In other words: it's time to meet the 2013 squad!
Just like last year, we'll mainly target the flat sprinters' races. Reigning CT sprint dominant, Alexander Serebryakov, will try to continue the insane success in his first year with us. The, among the fans, incredibly popular Siskevicius will obviously retain his highly protected role as well.
One of the big changes this year is the addition of two more timetriallists: Smukulis and Kwiatkowski. Together with Paillot, they form a great trio for short stage races with a decisive time trial. Especially Kwiatkowski should be a good source of points this year, knowing how allround he is.
Another thing that's different this year is that we'll go for some of the cobbled northern classics. Former Saur rider Paiani will have lots of freedom in those races and excellent help from the Latvian duo Skujins / Smukulis. This is of course just the beginning of building a competitive cobbles team.
Lastly, the hills. Perichon and, above all, Koretzky, experienced an amazing 2012 season and will try to repeat that now. I'm positive about it, especially with Kwiatkowski joining them as well.
And that's basically everything. The only sort of rider we miss is a pure climber or stage racer, but in the Continental Tour that's not really necessary if you ask me. If we were to promote at some point in the future, that will definitely change. But no climber for now.

You may not have a leader in the mountains, but you'll certainly do well in one day races. Strong squad with sprinters and riders that will target classics
- Oh, and no post of MTN-Qhubeka . Riders are probably under-rated anyway

Well, that's a good team. Really like it. But let's hope that the mountain riders wich you don't have, doesn't screw you over. |

Well, I hope the team does well in Paris-Nice. Could be the begining of a race towards the Tour, in a few years time. Maybe next year, who knows. |

@ Miguel - Indeed, it is!
@ Freitas - My intention is actually that the team will make it's GT debut already this year. Not at the Tour, though.
1.1: Grand Prix la Marseillaise
Surely there's no better way to return to racing than by beginning with our home race? Just like a year ago, we'll do everything to come out of the race with a good result - as it's perhaps the most important race all season.
Repeating last year's second place wont be an easy task, but Koretzky has been eyeing this day for a long time - planning to take revenge after missing the win by just a wheel. Smukulis and Skujins will stay near him the whole race, and then try to help him to a good position in an eventual sprint finish.
We certainly haven't been lucky with the competition. Not only will we have to face all our French rival teams, but also several WT teams - none of which have sent any bad squads. Visconti, Tiernan-Locke and last year's winner Hivert are my favourites in this unexpectedly strong field.
The action breaks loose at the very second the flag is waved, showing how much the riders have looked forward to this day. Vaubourzeix is active as always and jumps along when Veranda Rideau's Kevin Denis makes the first move.
As usual, lots of riders try to bridge across, but the duo builds up an advantage that no one is able to cross, initially. The breakaway is eventually formed when a group of seven successfully breaks free from the peloton and crosses the gap up to the leading duo.
Pelucchi, Weening and Eritrean champion Teklehaimanot are the most prominent riders involved.
The group never really becomes a threat, as Garmin and Sky keeps them under control all day with a rather tough pace. The break's advantage starts to decrease from the maximum of three minutes already with over 50 kms left - when pre-race favourite Dan Martin surprisingly starts taking turns.
The gap between the break and the main field continues to decrease rapidly during the next couple of kilometers. Vaubourzeix attacks when it goes down under a minute, bringing Teklehaimanot with him.
The duo pushes on very hard up the final climb of the day, and actually manages to stay in front of a wildly attacking group of favourites. Vaubourzeix really suffers however, and has to let go just before the top.
After failing to create any gap on the climb, the favourites start looking around in the descent - and the two men up front suddenly disappear in the distance! Teklehaimanot reaches the final three kilometers with half a minute on Vaubourzeix and a full minute on the peloton!
With Vaubourzeix completely dead after the hard climb, we make a slightly controversial decision. Smukulis takes Koretzky on his wheel and makes a big push up to the head of the pack, giving him the perfect position for the sprint.
Vaubourzeix is swallowed up in a matter of seconds, but Teklehaimanot really fights back. Smukulis kicks off the sprint very early for Koretzky, who then switches wheels when Gallopin comes storming to the front with two km remaining.
A heartbreaking end for Teklehaimanot, as he gets caught just 800m from the line! Still Gallopin charging on at the front, with Koretzky and Wegmann waiting for the perfect moment just behind.
Inside the final 500m, Koretzky jumps out of Gallopin's slipstream. The rest start to lose ground to the two Frenchmen, so it's clearly a two-man race!
Gallopin can't match up when Koretzky switches to another gear and can just watch his compatriot raise his arms in celebrations as he crosses the line - winning the race by several bikelengths!
A truly deserved second place goes to Gallopin, who shows excellent endurance by almost holding on to win with such a long sprint. Teklehaimanot ends up in 40th place, surely very disappointed!
