Here in Canada they tell you to take them in Grade 11, as sort of a practice run, and then re-do them in Grade 12 so you know how it goes and everything, and hopefully do better.

I just laughed at the betting for tomorrow's stage.
Nibali not even an option?

that's what I should have done, but waking up early in the morning on a weekend more than once doesn't appeal to me.
It didn't really matter. I am too smart to try and go directly into the 4 year system, especially with how expensive it is. Fortuitously I live in California, and our community colleges (most of which are dirt cheap (particularly the one I went too)) will take you no matter what your test scores, then from there you can go pretty much anywhere. I got my first 2 years of college done for a fraction of what a 4 year would cost, padded my resume with Associates degrees and got a transfer into the UC system. Our UC system isn't half bad either.

Yeah, I hear that a lot in movies, what are those exactly?
You take them as exams (on weekends in June, ) and they are the primary sample for universities to look at.
I only managed a 1610
Now we know why I didn't get into Berkeley
What's the maximum possible score? |

Your euphoria infected me and spontaneously, I bought Rome and what seems to be an expansion pack (Barbarian Invasion) for 9,90€ on ebay. Hadn't had a nice strategic game in years but I loved playing Empire Earth back in the days I hope the game can keep your promises but after all, with 10 bucks, you can't go wrong.
Oh, and by the way, new profile pic - what do you think?
Alright I got the game and played it a bit, looks very, very nice. I played with the Julian a bit, and I see how much long-time-motivation this game has. I'm glad I bought it

Glad you're enjoying it. At the start I would't touch the expansion at all though. Just enjoy the vanilla version.
My favourite country was definitely Carthage ( very wide variety of units ). Julli was my first faction though, although from the 3 Romans ones - Brutii is by far in best position, when you conquer Greece - you will have a lot of money
There's many sites, like Rome Total War Heaven and Total War forums if you need any advice Cunego There are some amazing mods too for Rome, and there's fantasy ones like Third Age : Lord of the Rings for Rome, making it even more fun

While we're at it, how can you play as, e.g. Carthage? I can just chose between the three Roman sides.

There are some ways
Legal one:
Play the campaign with one of the three roman factions and achieve the goal that is set
Warning: I would advise that you do the legal ways as it's much more fun to play first with the Romans and then against the Romans and learning the basics of the warfare and the campaign.
A way around that:
Search the folder where Rome is installed, Data -> world -> maps -> campaign -> imperial_campaign -> descr_strat.txt
Put the unlockable factions to the playable ones. I wouldn't put the unplayable ones to the playable ones as it might lead into problems.
Also preferences -> preferences.txt
Somewhere at the middle is FIRST_TIME_PLAY:TRUE change true to FALSE
So you don't have to learn the basics of warfare to play the campaign.
But I would say Rome is hard so I wouldn't do the way around.

Ah, so the other fractions are unlockable? Nice I guess I'll try that first. Thanks a lot!

I'm playing RTW too
I am still a noob, but I play as the house of Julii and I already took over Mediolanum and had a battle against 2000 Gauls (I won with a 400 men army).
Difficulty is normal :$

All this talk of strategy games made me dig up one of my old favourite games the other day, Age of Mythology. I've played it in my spare time (basically all the time because its the holidays ) and it is great fun

Age of Mythology is another timeless classics. Greta game and with user made campaigns and scenarios - even more epic. Loved LOTR and Star Wars mods for it as well as Hobbit scenario
I've stopped playing CoH and FIFA now and began playing Rome again.
So far it's great. Playing as Carthage on Hard. I took all cities in Scilly islands. Build up my army and went to destroy one city left for The Scipii.
It was a massive battle, but we won. And so The Scipii are elimiated from the game early on - and that was the plan. Julli go to Gauls and Brutti to Greece - meaning I will have some peace. I abandoned that Scipii city as I don't need fight in Italy right now.
I've build my armies and resources in Carthage and my next targets will be Spain and Numidia. Then I will create alliance and border with Egypt. After that it's just bulding my armies, any rebels and preparing to attack mainland of Italy.
It's going take a while yet, but with no Scipii around - there's less pain in ass without them - so far so good

I have been playing Empire Total War and Napoleon (got it in a bundle for a nice price) And literally I play Napoleon more, because it seems to be quicker when I want to Alt+Tab to do a quick check up of the forums....
I think the Darthmod or something like that is a great mod. I have it for both games and it seems great, although I am not the best at the game yet. I always get attacked at the wrong times, and if I go into a battle I mess up my tactics, but once I get the hang of that I think it will be an amazingly fun game.

Mods at TW games are usually great, and Darthmod is one of the best. Although the best mod I've ever played where the Medieval II ones, and especially most popular of them all - Third Age ( LOTR ). Quite epic
As you can see, I am still battling with my Carthaginians. Almost all Numida conquered by now Ohh, I love my elephants...
