I don't understand Gesink abandons the race. With just one mountain stage left, he could have reached a good GC place, unless he is really sick.
Di Luca, not really surprising, i suspected him already last year, when he climbed with the best at Tour of Austria. |

Apparently tomorrow's finish is looking good (under the raging blizzard): https://twitter.com/Sander_Slager/sta...68/photo/1 |

Di Luca's positive test is probably the least surprising news of all time.
Giro? Might as well take the bus straight to Treviso from here. Tomorrow's mountains don't look more accessible. |

It seems like this Giro is settled for this year.
So will Majka win white by two seconds and because of cancelled stages? Would be strange, if Betancur will not have a chance to fight for it in more mountains.

Also not the best news for Nibali. He was the strongest and would have taken the win either way.
But now it`s always a shadow over the 2013 Giro, that it was a win due to time trials and other riders had "no" chance to beat him in the mountains.
Weird weather all over this year already. |

I don't understand Gesink either. He had a quite good position in the GC but I think he is not at all happy with that because he said that he went for the podium and noting less. I think that the Dutch cyclingfans have to start to look at Kelderman instead of Gesink!
And Di Luca, what can you say; a cheater pur sang Not one of the smartest riders either you could say... |

Gesink was not feeling good at all after yesterdays time trial.
The team doctors recommended him to abandon then.
At least that`s what I heard.

Ah Di Luca doping, what a shock
It is a real pity the thte weather has been so poor this Giro, when the chance has been there it has been a real bike racers race but without the big mountain passes being attcked it leaves us with a lot of "what could have been" moments

Nah, that can be said only by someone absolutely uniformed, all cycling fans would know he is a deserved winner anyway. Or maybe there are still some that think Wiggo or Hesjedal would beat him if healthy? I doubt anyone healthy was going to beat Nibbles by some way, maybe Froome only.
Nibbles is greater than ever.

I admit. I laughed at Di Luca.
I laughed because, as with all dopers, he's spent the past few weeks insisting he's clean, he's learned his lesson, he's got a lot to teach the younger riders....you know, the same thing every doper says.
So I laughed because I thought of how some fans who refuse to accept their favorites might be doping use "but he says he's against doping!" as an argument

In 20 years or so it`s still the Giro without 1-2 mountain stages, so it`s just winning half the Giro.
Of course Nibali was the strongest and deserved winner either way, but there will always be guys, who will lower his success here. |

At least one Dutch cyclingfan here is already doing that

I didn't miss the mountains. So far the Giro has seen some excellent racing, with all the punchy stages that went up and down all the time. The weather made it even worse for the riders. It was definitely not an easy race, and thats proven by the abandon of Gesink, Wiggo and Hesjedal. Nibali was by far the best rider and his win deserves to be among the winners of previous editions. |

If he wasn't on his own and wasn't forced to gain some form in less than a month, i am sure he wouldn't been positive. The dopers are still ahead of the testers, if they could organize their program well. Also i thought epo isn't the way to go anymore during GTs.

He was caught right before the Giro. Really stupid from him cause there was a big chance they would come to his house right after he signed his contract.
What if Di Luca is the rider the secret pro was talking about? What if everyone in the peloton knew this for two weeks already? Why did it take 25 days before the got taken out of the race?

Never thought of this, but could very well be. And Menchov read the blog and got afraid and retired because of that. Two birds killed with one stone. |

So, I took the day off work today to watch the Giro.
Not the best decision I've ever made.
