Hi everyone! We're very glad of our recent efforts and we made the paper more than once because of it! Cycling-section news:
Selection of the Belgian Team in three days
The Belgian selection for the World Championships will be revealed in three days. Leaders of the Belgian squad will be Tom Boonen and Phil Gilbert.
[...]
[...]
Some young riders were considered for the final selection, such as upcoming Stijn Van Gent, Pieter Serry, Michael Van Staeyen and Willy Wouters, but in the end experience was opted over youth for the profile that takes the rider multiple times over the Cauberg.
We'll let you know as soon as the selection is released, but we already know we're not part of it. And we must admit that's more than understandably, Belgium's got so much talent, we didn't expect a place among the 9 finest! Not yet, anyway. Let's just keep this up and maybe we'll earn a place in the future.
Willy Wouters wins in Colorado
Lotto Belisol Wouters, 21 years of age, won the second stage of the Tour of Colorado. Boasson Hagen remains leader.
Overijse Classic: 1-2 for Lotto Belisol
Lotto Belisol pulled a one-two in the Druivenkoers Overijse. Stijn Van Gent broke away 60 km from the finish, only to be joined by team mate Jurgen Roelandts. They rode to the finish together, where Roelandts gave the win to Van Gent
Well, two smaller items, but it's always nice getting a mention, isn't it?
Though that part about: "Roelandts gave the win...", hell, the reporter probably wasn't even there! But it doesn't matter, what happens on the road is the most important thing. The media will always be the media. |

Great update! and a fear decision by the Belgian team coach. Both Stijn and Willy will have their chance at the World's in a few years either way

Too bad that they will not ride the WC

For sure I knew they will win! It's a shame they didn't made the cut. But at least it's realistic. |

sutty68: Thanks I've noticed Lotto Belisol is mentioned a lot in the real Gentenaar - Sportkrant so it isn't unrealistic to put them in there frequently
andy222c: Thanks! I believe they will, but they need some more experience at big races first. Guys like Leukemans will prove of much more value for Gilbert than some young 22-year old neopro!
PCM rulezz: They'll have their chances
JuanMotr: Thanks a lot!
Well, I didn't live up to what I said, things lasted longer than I thought. I'm away today as well, but I'm not sure when I'll return home. So I might do a race this evening, if not, it's tomorrow evening. Doing the best I can |

Hi everyone! While I'm recovering from Overijse, and preparing for my next one-day World Tour race, I've some exciting news!
The long season is taking its toll on several riders, and this caused for some chances in the schedule. Nothing is confirmed yet(!) but Willy and I might get the opportunity to enter some more (World Tour) races to finish the season. Plausible races we could still enter include the Canadian Classics, Giro del Piemonte, Giro di Lombardia and the new Tour of Beijing. But like I said, nothing's certain yet and we'll have to look into it.
I'd say Beijing is most likely, since I already got told, off the record, that we might get compensated for our long absence by some more end-of-season races. Let's hope we get the spot!

Tour of Colorado - Stage 3
The third stage here, the final one before the decisive time trial. I planned to gain some time on Time Trialist Edvald Boasson Hagen today.
Team Sky lay down the pace today.
The first real danger was when Quintana decided to attack.
Team Sky, very unlike them, bluffed and stopped the chase. So it was up to others, I didn't want to take the risk so I stepped in with our men.
As soon as we caught them, I expected another attempt from Quintana, this time I was ready to slip away with him.
We got caught by a non-bluffing, all-powerful, bloody-frustrating Team Sky! I needed to gain time on Boasson Hagen, otherwise this Tour is already lost! So I threw myself out there, again.
In the downhill, I got caught once again...
De Greef launched me in a final, kamikaze attempt. At 86km/h I rode away slowly from the pack.
But in the final flat kilometers were too much to handle alone.
On top of it all, guess who took the stage win? Yeah, that's right...
Well, I think it's fair to say I'm disappointed. I'm in great shape and I tried everything to shake Boasson Hagen. I have to bow my head to him, he is the better of the two. I lacked the strength and I'll have to fight for the podium instead, which isn't bad, of course, but after my great start, I started dreaming of more!

Losing the lead on the final day is rough to take. I had it in me to win this, but a second place is what I go home with. The Mountain Jersey is my only consolation. This is a bitter pill to swallow... Still, I managed to win two stages and finish on the podium, so a lot of mixed feelings here!

2nd is still a good result for Willy. If you won 2 stages and you are 2nd in GC, there is no reason to be sad.

PCM logic, EBH wins a mountain stage in an almost mass sprint.... But it isn't that strange, as he dropped all climbers in the Tour last year.
