Bikex: Thank you
SSJ2Luigi: He sure looks good, Mr. President
FroomeDog99: Thanks!
Jesleyh: I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him in the Tour de France next year
SSJ2Luigi: Well, like I said, he's really interested in cycling!
PCM rulezz: Looks real, doesn't it? Thanks! This time he's 8th instead of 10th!
sutty68: Thanks, he's getting better, but is still far off Phinney's TT talent!
JuanMotr: Glad to hear you say that! Though it's odd my reports are better if there's more bullshit in them
sutty68: That only proves how well I edited them into the shot...
krisa: Luckily he was discovered and excluded from the results! Thanks
dienblad: I'm slowing down. I neglected my work-ethic for two days but I really have to get it going again today. Thanks, the Eneco Tour will definitely be a breakthrough for Stijn's career! It'll also make him a name in Belgium and the Netherlands!
Thanks for the many comments! Next race will be later today! |

FreitasPCM - Definitely agree there
I've had a great day, working-wise. I got a lot of work done, so as a reward for being patient, a nice report's coming up
I'm trying some new things as well, to make the reports more attractive to read. (riders names in bold instead of in red).
Feel free to give me feedback on things like that, everyone's opinion matters!

Tour of Colorado - Stage 2
Listed as hilly, today's race takes us over a mountain and finishes on a steep slope. I will try to gain time on Boasson Hagen, the leader, today.
Kaisen made it easy on us by getting in the breakaway. He took the highest amount of points at the mountain pass.
But things really got started in the final 10km. Quintano launched an attack and I follow him in the slipstream.
Nearing the final kilometer, I looked over my shoulder. Darn it, that's not a big gap!
However, I had no options. It was too late to drop back into the pack. All I could do was keep going hard, if they took my wheel, it was over for me. As long as they couldn't use the advantage of my slipstream, I might still have a fighting chance! All I had to do was ride like the devil and DON'T LOOK BACK!
I kept the little gap and launched the sprint. If they wanted to catch me, they would have to bridge the gap themselves now!
Made it! I can't believe this, I held it out to the end and thus I can celebrate my third(!) win this season!
Understandably, no time gaps are given, but that matters little now. I made the selection and got a bit closer because of the boni seconds. I've lived up to this race for months and it's so rewarding to take the stage win here!
Amazing, simply amazing...

Tomorrow is a mountain stage, where earlier I would've expected to drop Boasson Hagen, but this guy keeps amazing everyone in the peloton. He's not only a sprinter, classic rider and hilly rider, but he can climb as well. I remain with my original goal, though. A top 3 would be more than excellent!
Stijn will start racing again tomorrow, after his performance in the Eneco Tour. He'll ride the Overrijse Classic, depending on the field, he may even go for a podium!

Brilliant win, maybe EBH has a bad day tomorrow and Willy can drop him on the mountains
What kind of stages are coming up? (I don't know the route of the Tour of Colorado)

Daggen: Thanks
PCM rulezz: Thanks! One mountain stage, but the finish isn't on top, so EBH may follow. Then a Semi-Mountain TT, then 3 flat stages (one is quite hilly, though)

Overijse Classic - Druivenkoers
Today we have a fairly weak field, so Roelandts and myself are the biggest favorites in the current circumstances. Today was a great test to see if I had recovered completely.
And the best way to test that is to blow up your legs once again. With 60km left to go, I speed up on the cobbles.
I took some time quickly.
As the race progressed, a group of 4 was chasing me hard, Roelandts sat by and relaxed.
I slowed down a little bit and let them caught me, since 15km was too long a distance with guys like that chasing me.
However, I don't let myself get caught without some kind of a plan. As soon as Vanbilsen took my wheel, Roelandts accelerated, with me following.
To our own surprise, our getaway was quite successful, and we were heading towards the finish together.
Of course, the dilemma struck: who could win this race? Roelandts feels he has to make up for his cobbled season, while I can use every victory I can take as a young rider. The decision: we'd sprint for it.
Sprinting was an advantage to me, since I've developed in speed a lot this year. I started easily and when the road started ascending, I went full speed, with success! Roelandts didn't press it anymore and I could take the win! I'm sure he would've tried an extra punch against someone else, but still, I won fair and square!
This is great. It isn't as big as my win in the Eneco Tour, but it confirms the development I've made, and a win is a win!

A funny, and scary, thing Roelandts said right after the finish: "That's two times you've beaten me already, next year it'll be the other way around, mate!" It'll be weird racing against him, he's a great guy.
Later today, in America, Willy starts the mountain stage of the Tour of Colorado. I heard he's won yesterday's stage. It looks like whenever one of us has a go at victory, the other's not far behind!

The opposition wasn't that strong, but a win is a win
Is one of the boys in the WC selection? Both of them are in the shapes of their life, so maybe they can do something for Phil or Boonen.

A great double win for the boys. Only a bit disappointed how weak the field in Belgium was. But still, you have to win it!

Jesleyh: Thanks
PCM rulezz: I'll try to do a press release about the WC selection later
Daggen: Thanks
sutty68: These certainly are the days what it's all about let's hope for more of these!
krisa: Thanks!
Stromeon: Well, they certainly are getting better, and they're definitely ready to compete in the World Tour. But dominating, no the wins are mostly very close, so far!
JuanMotr: But you already knew what was going to happen, huh?
rogvi 7: Thanks!
dienblad: I share your vision. Though Vanbilsen was pretty strong, kept chasing me very hard. He only gave up in the very last 5 km.
FreitasPCM: Thanks, it'll definitely look good on their resume
Jakstar22: Thank you!
Weekend's a bit fuller than usual. I'll try to do a (press) report before I leave today, and I may have time for a race after the World Championship Cyclo-Cross. Tomorrow there's a big family day, so much will depend on time of departure and time of return!
Thanks for the many replies and support, you really know how to keep a guy motivated! |
