Took a little longer than I planned, as I couldn't really come up with a presentation I liked. Still not entirely satisfied, but I hope you'll enjoy this nevertheless!
Team presentation, part 1!
AG2R La Mondiale
Leaders: 2/5
Much sharper edge than last year. Above all Pozzovivo, who'll once again be one of the main contenders for the Giro. Betancur should be capable of good results in the shorter stage races and hilly classics. Not to forget that quality sprinter Hutarovich is still in the team.
Depth: 4/5
Plenty of strong support for stage races, hilly classics and sprints. When riders like Peraud, Feillu and Dumoulin are helpers, you understand that the squad is very solid. The only area they'll find difficult is the cobbled classics, although an incoming Chainel should secure them a few points at least.
Future: 3/5
Decent quantity and excellent quality of talents. Bardet could very well be a future Tour winner, Betancur will surely win a major classic some day and Appollonio might be Petacchi's successor as Italy's main sprinter. Not to mention that riders like Bouet, Bonnafond and Kadri still probably haven't reached their peak!
Overall: 3/5
Argos - Shimano
Leaders: 2/5
Kittel and Degenkolb remain the only absolute stars in the team. Van Rensburg replaces Veelers as the only other top tier rider. Mezgec might also get a few own chances, even though it's only his first year in the big ranks.
Depth: 3/5
They may be quite one-sided, but that definitely doesn't mean that they're weak. You can't blame them for having a load of sprint helpers, considering how the team is built. Plus, they do have some superb allrounders like Geschke, De Kort and Parisien for the other areas.
Future: 4/5
The whole team is dripping with talent! All but a handful of the team members still haven't hit their careers' best years yet. It's not just any random youngster they have in possession either. Barguil, Ahlstrand, Arndt and Dumoulin are all potential superstars. In two, three years they'll be one of the best teams.
Overall: 3/5
Astana Pro Team
Leaders: 4/5
It's (almost) all about stage races and classics for them. Nibali will surely target another GT win, after losing the Tour to Froome by such a slim margin. He's likely to at least podium in whatever GT and classic he turns up for, while Brajkovic and Fuglsang will clean up the other stage races.
Guardini will then do pretty much as he wants in all flat races, being by far the best sprinter in the team. The cobbled classics shouldn't be much fun for them, but Guarnieri might be able to surprise a few people.
Depth: 4/5
They have the potential to destroy the field in the mountains and the hilly classics, plus a couple of quick sprinters. Nibali wont be able to blame anything on lack of support if he fails to deliver - that's for sure. The only thing missing is a solid line of cobbled classics specialists.
Future: 3/5
One of the few weaknesses in the squad. A few more promising youngsters wouldn't hurt. Fortunately, those they have are of highest class. Aru, Guardini, Kamyshev, Lutsenko... It's hard to sniff at those names!
Overall: 4/5

If these three teams are anything to go by then the season is going to be a very hard one indeed |

Great presentation! I really like the divide of Leaders, Depth and Future. It works very well and quickly make you gain an overview of the team

I agree with Andy. The way you write about the Leaders, the Depth and Future is very good, and a strong way to describe the situation of each team going into the year.
Just wish there were more than 3 in the post. I want to read more

Amazing season, well done. Beauty of a story Should be another great season.
And it's a very nice presentation of teams. All 3 teams looks quite good although few talents are bit overrated I'd say a bit, Barguil and Lutsenko stand out.

Glad you liked the presentation!
@ Alakagom - I'm aware that some of them may be slightly over the top. I've set them to slow progress in the db though, so that they'll start off very well, but develop slower than some other talents.
Blanco Pro Cycling
Leaders: 3/5
Gesink showed that he's still one of the best in last year's Tour, and will probably try to improve the sixth place to a top 5 or even a podium this year. Mollema has meanwhile made some progress on the climbs and might be a serious contender for both classics and Grand Tours this season.
Boom and Vanmarcke is a very strong duo for the northern classics, both hoping to improve from a weak 2012. Lastly also Bos, who'll try to add one or a few more big wins to his account, which already includes a Giro stage.
Depth: 5/5
All the team's leaders will have a supreme core of helpers behind them. The squad doesn't really miss anything if you ask me. Every single area is covered!
Future: 4/5
A new batch of talents has been moved up from the feeder team, and it's perhaps the strongest one ever. Olivier has improved massively during 2012, and already looks capable of targeting an U25 jersey in one of the GTs.
Goos, Hofland and Slik are also very good already, despite their young age. Not to mention Kelderman and a couple of others who've already been in the team for a year. The future of Dutch cycling looks very bright.
Overall: 4/5
BMC Racing Team
Leaders: 4/5
They have the best puncheur in the world in Gilbert, one of the top favourites for the cobbled classics in Ballan and a Van Garderen who'll probably take over the stage race throne from a declining Evans. Oh, and Phinney - who can do basically everything!
Depth: 3/5
One of the top teams in terms of time trial strength, and also very good in both sorts of classics. In addition to that, a number of great leadout men - but no sprinter to finish things off with! Surprisingly also a little mediocre in the mountains for a stage race-oriented team.
Future: 3/5
The arrival of Nerz, Lander and Oss improves this department a lot. They join the small group of other talents in the squad, with Phinney being the obvious head figure. Blythe and Eijssen are promising as well.
Overall: 3/5
Cannondale Cycling
Leaders: 2/5
Nibali's departure leaves too much responsibility on Sagan, with Basso going further and further past the peak of his career. What might save them is the progress Caruso and Moser has done, along with a fresh, incoming sprinter in Boivin.
Depth: 2/5
They have a great amount of domestiques, but the problem is that basically all of them are rather mediocre. A few more ~ 75 riders really wouldn't hurt them. However, we all know that Sagan is capable of winning all by himself!
Future: 4/5
Even Sagan aside, this is a talented team. Caruso looks more and more like a successor to Basso, and the Canadian duo Boily and Boivin are both made of good materiel as well. If they can survive the next two years, things will be completely different.
Overall: 3/5

Love your presentation. Unfortunately I have far too less time to follow as close as I would like.
I wonder how a team can get 5/5 in future with that Blanco Team talent list. I hope to get Olivier on that level also in the MG in a few seasons. |

@ fcancellara - Indeed, his development is crazy!
@ ssj2luigi - Thanks.
@ roturn - Very glad to hear that you like it!
@ ste_18 - Thanks!
@ valv321 - Yeah, they're pretty awesome. I actually think it's possible that Boily gets to lead in one of the GTs! It'll depend on if Basso decides to ride one or two I guess.
@ maxime - Thx.
Euskaltel - Euskadi
Leaders: 2/5
Nieve is now the best climber in the team, since Sanchez career seems to be in it's twilight. He should still be able to target various stage races such as Pais Vasco and Catalunya, plus the classics together with Anton. The latter will also need to repeat this year's excellent results in the Vuelta.
Depth: 3/5
We're all familiar with their strength in the mountains, but this year they've also got a pretty nice sprinter squad. Believe it or not! However, just like Cannondale, they miss the top guy at the back of the sprint train.
Future: 3/5
Sicard and Ion Izagirre are probably the most prominent of several promising names. The plan is probably for those two to take over from Sanchez and Anton in the next few years, with riders like Bravo, Bilbao and Landa helping out on the climbs.
Overall: 3/5
FDJ
Leaders: 2/5
Pinot broke through for real during the Giro last year, finishing fourth overall and winning a stage. This year he might go for the podium, if he doesn't decide to race the Tour instead. Demare and Bouhanni will meanwhile try to score a first big win. They all need another year or two I think.
Depth: 4/5
They don't really have any weak areas. Things look solid all over. The only thing missing according to me, is an absolute top leader - which they will have rather soon.
Future: 4/5
It's a well known fact that Pinot is seen as the next French Tour winner. That kind of speaks for itself. And he's far from the only talent in the team. Demare, Bouhanni, Elissonde, Geniez, Vichot...
Overall: 3/5
Garmin - Sharp
Leaders: 3/5
Hesjedal, Martin, Talansky and Morton (!) are all very solid climbers, but none of them are in the absolute top layer. Granted, Hesjedal almost won the Giro, but still. They'll probably struggle a bit this year, especially due to being pretty weak stage races aside.
Depth: 3/5
Losing Zabriskie, Danielson and Vande Velde in the Armstrong case has really wounded the squad. There's almost no mountain support whatsoever. Luckily they make up for that in classics, time trials and sprints.
Future: 3/5
Morton, Von Hoff and Dennis all go straight to protected roles, which tells you a bit about their capacity. They form a strong group together with the likes of Haas, Howes, the Kreders, Navardauskas and Stetina.
Overall: 3/5

Will be very interesting to see Pinot and Talansky both riding the Giro (or the same GT), though i think this won't happen. While for Euskaltel Sanchez and Anton have still good chance to win some hilly stage but the team isn't so strong this year. |
