To bad for Kristjan, but we have 4 Spiders in the top 10 at the moment. Great result so far.
Try to defend the Jersey, but not at all costs. |

@baseballover - Sorry, but I must say no for now. Until we have the leader's jersey, we will try to keep it. If we lose it, then we are surely going to get into some breaks. Bob's time will come likely in one of the flat stages, after hard ones.
@TMM - Then I think I'll keep it. Fun fact: I actually turned down the cities and turned up the forests etc...
@jseadog1 - His next race is ToC, but then he'll have a big break until Utah. Then he'll be in topform for the USAPCC.
@sutty - Indeed, and now our Rosa will be more beautiful, thanks to fcancellara!
@pdxboon - Thanks, it's really great to hear that!
@Colinas - Yes, I think Alex will lose it at Rocca di Cambio, or even tomorrow.
@Ian Butler - Thanks, Alex is in the skys atm. |

Yeah, I know that. He is a domestique and should do his job. Just for later maybe.

Watch out for improved jerseys, and the beautiful new Maglia Rosa!
@baseball - Exactly, and watch out for stage 18!
The first day for the GC-contenders to show themselves on a harder terrain. Our goal is today to keep our jersey, and save energy for tomorrow's mountains.
Today's break was a pretty strong one, with Vandevelde and Moreno Moser too. IRL winner, Rubiano was also in there. The pack didn't rush things too much, Sky and Lampre were leading the pack comfortably. On the earlier climbs, Liquigas got into a big trouble, when...
... a quick split happened in the peloton, and Nibali and Basso were both part of the casualties. Apart from them Hesjedal and Wiggins were also in that group. The big difference between them, is that the Liqui duo made it back into the peloton, while the other two couldn't do it.
The pack was down to around 60-men, and there were splits everywhere, but it always came back together on the downhills. Once the Maglia Rosa wearer also lost the contact, and Puskaric too, but luckily they could come back into the peloton. At the 10km mark Nocentini and Pellizotti broke out from the pack, and created a 30sec gap.
With 3kms to go, Nocentini was still in the lead, and he dropped Pellizotti. The pack was closing in fast, led by SpiderTech and Garmin. (!)
As we headed to the last km, Nocentini still had a bit of a lead, but the pack came close, with Scarponi at the front. Later Antón and Puskaric took the front, and closed in on the celebrating Nocentini.
And the Italian couldn't make it! He was celebrating too early, and Antón and Puskaric overtook him both, with the spaniard beinbg the fastest! What a flop by Nocentini!

Thanks to both of you, and Alex says thanks for the lots of support!
The first MTF, a summit finish on the Rocca di Cambio. Let's see what are the favorites going to do.
Today's break was a quite small one, and the riders were far back in the GC. The riders of the break were Georges, Izagirre, Sarmiento and Nicki Sorensen. Their gap in the GC, must be the reason of the peloton's non chase behaviour, and they got a pretty great, 10 minutes, gap with just the last climb to go.
The break started the last mountain, and there was no sign of the pack, so they knew that they are going to win it. There were some fireworks, but nobody managed to stay away.
Meanwhile, in the peloton, Mellberg paced hard for Wiles, sometimes they created a gap, but Lampre always came back. Puskaric struggled a lot, in contrast, Wiles was shining.
The hard pace by our domestique, hurt a lot of people, and suddenly the Shark was down with Wiggins! They never came back to the front group again, and eventually finished 3 and a half minutes down on the other favourites.
Switching back to the break, we can just see that Georges wins the stage outsprinting his companions! Great ride by him, again after the Romandie!
In the favourites group Scarponi proved to be the strongest, overpowering the others. He came in 15 seconds before Wiles, and another 11 before Puskaric.
It was a really interesting stage, check out the GC results, major differences starting to occur.

Wiles got protected, Puskaric didn't and only finished 11 sec down on Wiles
I think Puskaric is gonna win, not Wiles (well, I wouldn't mind if Wiles did anyways )

@fcancellara - They were both protected throughout the whole stage. At the picture when Wiles and Mellberg are going hard, it's not protecting, it's relay/hold position. Mellberg is a "shared" domestique, and they get the same treatment.
@Miguel -
@Ian Butler - Sorry, but I must say no to this request.
Amgen Tour of California Preview

** Danielson, Mollema, Gerrans

@Ian Butler - Thanks, it'll be needed.
Played a bit with the screenshots. I'll try to do these kind of things, and then maybe I'll get some better screens as a result.
Amgen Tour of California Stage 1
Kind of a harder flat stage, great opportunity for the punchy sprinters/punchers with a great kick (yes, Gilbert.)
The first time the year, we managed to get a rider into the BotD! (I'm not too good in those things. ) The lucky one was Steve Moore, who managed to get away with Iglinskiy and Kohler and with Androni's Parrinello. The break didn't get too much of a lead, and RadioShack chased them down with the help of Vacansoleil.
As soon as the break got caught, Garmin and Rabobank organized their trains, and our riders were lurking around, if they could maybe find a wheel to follow. Gary Sutton was the best in that, as he managed to get Jure Kocjan's wheel, which proved to be a good choice, as the slovenian sprinted great. Sutton didn't have the energy to beat Kocjan, who became 2nd...
...after italian Jacopo Guarnieri, who managed to beat him in this odd bunch sprint. Simon Gerrans also showed a good form, becoming 3rd outsprinting Breschel and Rathe for example. Gary Sutton became 7th after a great duel with Andreas Klöden, who got 9th.
| 1 | Jacopo Guarnieri | Astana Pro Team | 4h38'48 | | 2 | Jure Kocjan | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | | 3 | Simon Gerrans | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | | 4 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | | 5 | Federico Canuti | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | | 6 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | | 7 | Gary Sutton | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | | 8 | Jakob Rathe | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | | 9 | Andreas Klöden | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | | 10 | Sergey Lagutin | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. |
