Tour De San Luis - Stage 3
The third stage of San Luis! The riders are loving it here in San Luis, but they aren't as excited about the mountains they will be enduring today. Anyways, here is our first leader of the year, Keven Lacombe!
Not much action early on in this one, but the first attack of the day pulled away with 145km to go.
Team Sunkist decided to play it safe and not let the breakaway get to significant, so they stayed toward the front of the peleton. At 135km to go, the lead was 4 minutes, and at 110km to go, it was 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
Just past the first mountain sprint of the day, P. Van Hecke launches an attack by himself as nobody follows him. He is trying to catch the leaders, who have a 6:00 lead at 100km to go.
At 90km to go, the leaders hold a 7 minute edge on the pack. Speaking of the pack, all Sunkist riders are intact with the peleton, some are slowly starting to lose energy from the big climb.
At the peak of the Mountain Sprint (category 1) Van Hecke manages to catch the main breakaway, and even passing them up the hill to take the mountain points for first place. The 3 riders now hold a 6:00 lead with 75km to go. Alot of Sunkist riders have lost energy, but still stick with the main group.
Eventually, 23 riders lost track of the peleton, and fell back 2 minutes. Unfortunately, this included Guillaume Boivin and Jake Keough of Sunkist.
The efforts of these 2 riders however, allowed the entire group of 23 to catch back up to the peleton, with 50km left, which still trailed the breakaway by 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Svein Tuft, race leader Keven Lacombe, and Flavio De Luna are at the front of the peleton still, and we must say, fantastic effort on the most part by Flavio today!
With 40km left, the peleton still has a 3 minute gap. Reeling in that gap is coming from heavy workloads of Sunkist, Lampre, and Quickstep.
We fast forward down to 15km to go, and there is just a 2 minute gap from the leaders to the peleton.
Levi Leipheimer still has almost all of his energy left, and with 12km left, he takes his chance and launches an attack on the rest of the pack.
With just 8km left, we can see everybody in the race close together, every rider being exhausted.
Levi Leipheimer charges past the break, finishing 2nd in the last sprint of the day, and taking the overall lead of the stage with just 5km to go.
This is it, everybody is together for an uphill sprint, Sunkist had bad placement, its best finisher was indeed Leipheimer, but not in the top 10, as more powerful sprinters pass him. The stage win goes to Bert De Waele.
'Ol Levi even had his name spray painted on the road, what a win it would have been for him.

Because png takes tons of time to load, they're much bigger than jpg. Also, one small advice, I wouldn't center the results, it's a bit confusing. Otherwise, it looks nice

It's not very confusing to me, and I don't mind waiting a couple of seconds more for something that will take you a couple of minutes more to do.

I may just take a screenshot and post that instead, clicking on it will give you the top 25+ instead of 10.

Tour De San Luis - Stage 4
The fourth stage of this race is a time trial, and the team was clearly not prepared.
Not much to speak about today, as the team put out an embarrassing effort. Svein Tuft was our best guy, as he had the lead when he was done, after 42 out of the 95 were done.
Levi Leipheimer was up, and he had his head set on a win, making his move to win this race.
That however, clearly was working, as he had the OVERALL LEAD when he got to the first checkpoint.
He ran out of steam though, and he ended up with a poor 16th place, making him the best rider on the team in the standings overall. Poor effort today, the winner of the stage was P. Velits.
