G.P. Beghelli
Another easy win for Paolini well supported by 3rd Palumbo (his season best result) and 5th A.Masciarelli.
Milano - Torino
Finally we can see good competition here. Names like Joaquim Rodriguez, Michael Albasini or Jelle Vanendert promise much more thrilling battle. And result? Luca Paolini collects another win and penultimate sponsor´s goal (TOP5) is done
Last race will be Giro di Lombardia - sponsors want to see our rider in TOP10.

Welcome in race who will finish my very successful season with Acqua & Sapone.
Competition seems to be strong today, question is how many riders are still in shape in the end of season. According to WC results and today´s profile, Damiano Cunego, Joaquim Rodriguez and Philippe Gilbert seem to be main contenders. I´m wondering how will Paolini do in quite steep hills. |

Igor Anton is leading big breakaway group. Due to slow pace Paolini survived San Fedele d´Intelvi and Premana without any troubles deeply in the pack.
Paolini and Gilbert during climbing in to Madonna del Ghisallo. They have breakaway group already in sight.
30km to go and we are all together...but there are still two hills ahead of us.
Nocentini, Capecchi, Tjallingii, Fedrigo and Bertagnolli attacked before top of Civiglio (penultimate climb) and now have advantage of about 30 seconds before peloton.
Strong group including Gilbert, Cunego, Kirchen, Scarponi, Paolini and few others is coming from behind...
...and joins leading group during last steep short climb - San Fermo della Battaglia!
Damiano Cunego attacks...
...and builts small lead in the top.
Luca Paolini is pushing hard, only Tjallingii and World champion Gilbert can hold with our leader.
But it´s too late, Cunego has comfortable lead and is riding for victory.
Gilbert attacks from late position, unfortunately Luca is empty and can´t reply.
Damiano Cunego celebrates great win in last PT race of season!
Paolini finishes behind Gilbert and Tjaliingii. I think 4th place still is great, we reached the last objective, sponsors can be happy.

here is last screen from my ASA career
My team finished on 6th in CT rankings. It is maybe not what we could expect before season, but we must realize that especially Garzelli, F. Masciarelli focused on Grand Tours. Both riders raced only about 20 days in CT races, while Paolini 40 instead of usual 60. According to these circumstances 6th place doesn´t seem so bad at all...
Now it´s time for short break, when I´ll decide how to continue. I´d like to thank you to all for your comments through whole story. If you have any suggestions or ideas how to improve this thread, don´t hesitate to write about

hmm Katusha is cool..I know what i´m talking about
Saxo is too strong i think, too many great riders like A.Schleck,F.Schleck,Cancellara,Breschel...
Astana would be great ´cause without Leipheimer,Klöden and Armstrong if Contador can win the Tour then?..... |
