What an absolute shitshow of a race. We had high hopes and a win goal, albeit unrealistic, but still....jeebus it was bad. Hopefully we can bounce back.
Thanks for some great reports. Please improve those parts, where my team sucks. I did not enjoy

Great race for NZ cycling with the Smith victory and Strong making it an awesome race for Xero-developed home riders too winning the U25 along with Habtemichael getting on the GC podium

Dion!!!! Wow just the 4 mins put into the GC favourite what an attack they clearly stopped working in behind but that's a great ride to get into yellow all being well tomorrow this should be the GC win as well just need to hold off Orosco
Dion Smith was among my prerace favorites, but I didn’t expect him to win that big. Perhaps he was a bit lucky on S8 but well played, nevertheless. Congrats.

9th in GC, 2nd in KoM and 5th in Points. I can live with that. Some points here and there
Too bad Bianchi just hits on everything... Congrats jt ;-)

Incredible final stage by Dion, yesterday was a stroke of luck so its nice to win the race on pure strength on the final day in yellow! Grabbing the points over Dave is going to continue to be important for the season rankings so never know how big beating Habtemichel here could be
thanks for the reports KB a great read |

Very very nice result for us here, with 2 top 10 and a top 20; even unexpected I must say.
The stage results and team classification even are a nice bonus. It's nice for once to not do the chasing for the yellow jersey
It's the first GC result of note from Rochas with us, even though he was on the team from the beginning, but I can imagine that not working for Iturria anymore can help.
Thanks a lot for the reports KB, congrats jt!

Well, can't say that I'm not happy - stage win, 4th in the final stage + KoM ranking points from Schleck alone + a point or 2 from Otruba and Bernard.

Really proud of what the team achieved here. Shame that Budyak just missed out on the Top 10, especially after Tejada worked so hard for him. But we still come away with a stage win, the white jersey, Petrov in 11th, and 5th in the team classification out of 22 teams. A great week for Zappes Kölsch and plenty to build on for the rest of the season. |

Really good race for us, 14 PPRD if my calculations are right which would be a good return for us in a HC or C1 mountain stage race let alone a C2 one!
Fantastic to see Orosco rewarded for some aggressive riding, and a shame to miss out so narrowly on 2nd at the end, though 4th is still well beyond expectations. Nice to pick up the KoM and a lot of depth scoring from the U25 classification as well.
Thanks for the reports and congratulations to jt! |

In the end the most obvious favorites ended up in the better GC spots. I guess that's good. A lot of riders that should have been inside the top 10 - or just outside missed it big time though, which isn't really that good for the future.

jt breaking the Bianchi curse this year, good to see. And can't really argue a lot against Smith as a GC winner - given how weird the "MTT" seems to work nowadays, can make even less sense of it than in the previous edition. And there was obviously a ton of luck involved on S8.
Speaking of, I think it should be one of the stages that should be redesigned if there's some capacity to do so. Smith attacking is good to see, and if he gains a minute there's nothing wrong about it. But all the others just sitting up and gifting him 4 minutes is just ridiculous and wrong.
And I guess it's not a one-off, as Kozhatayev did pretty much the same last year - the others only reacted when it was far too late. I mean, nothing to say against a gutsy attack working out, and nothing to say against a breakaway win. But it's just one of those stages that yields unrealistic results, and I don't like it. Don't know if it's just the final DH that makes the favourites behave like amateurs, but it would be my first guess.
Nonetheless, congrats to Bianchi on another huge race (wish my plans were working out even just a little bit like yours do), but also like to see Dave and jph do really well. Prado with a huge ride as well for the Incas, well done!

10th and 11th in GC is not what I expected, but I'll take it. |

Really fun race to follow, even if we didn't score immensely. Apologies for the lack of commenting, but really enjoyed reading the reports.
Fun to see Orosco finding his way to success. Even if it proved that trading him for Ponce wasn't a win for us. You owe me this one jph
Congrats on another great win jt. Brilliant season so far!

Can only agree with this Smith only had 2 mins at the top of the climb re: report which is probably okay but that had grown another 2 mins on a 5-10km descent so something not quite clicking in the A.I on that stage.
Thanks all for the positive messages |

Catching up on mg a bit as I'm on holiday for s few weeks... first or all thanks for the nice reports and congrats JT, Bianchi really look unstoppable.
From our perspective, it's great to see Perera bag a few wins and vindicate our decision to play hard ball with Gibbons during salary negotiations. Other than that, it was incredibly concerning to see how badly Buitrago went. A load of pointless attacks and a really poor MTT ruining whatever remote chance we may have had of achieving our win goal. Dina cracking the top 10 is some consolation as far as points go, but just makes Buitrago's failure all the more bizarre. Will be a bit concern going forward as either his stats or my planning are not working well with this version of pcm.
