Pretty good sprint by sureda. Gotta take every little score we can on these sort of stages...

Painful.
Cool to see Gaviria on a great roll, though. Congratulations again, Roman! |

Another 18th place for Halvorsen is quite sad. Before the Vuelta, even after seeing the startlist I had some big hopes of getting out first Vuelta stage win with him. Quite realistic I'd say as well, but I guess when you're considered a fourth sprinter in most sprints, it's not meant to be. Can only hope for one extreme positive outlier further in the race. So far this is the second GT in a row where it's looking like we score way below what we could/should, but still quite some stages to go of course, so have to keep hoping for better.
Conmiserations to others here with good sprinters who perform very subpar.
And thank you for another very fine report, kandesbunzler! I might perform bad in the GT's you report, but at least the reports are always great to read

Gaviria's success makes me hopeful Grosu can do something similar at the Tour. That's the only upside for us so far. Congrats on the great results, Roman!

This is honestly pathetic. Now Manninen isn’t even enough of a favourite so that we’re going in breakaways? Can’t believe this will be the rest of his season. What a joke.
Sorry for the negativity kb. Reports are great as always but obviously I’m struggling somewhat to enjoy their content Since we don’t have a GC hope to disappoint me I’m looking forward to being a neutral following the mountain stages and reports
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Van Poppel seemed to be in a great position today. I guess he just isn't good enough.

Thank you again for the report, kb!
No signs of things going better for Groenewegen is unfortunate, as we need him to get more from this GT to lay down the foundation for a good season for us. As it stands now, we might be in for a tricky second half of the season.
Enjoying the reports and the Gaviria show! |

Oh wow, this Vuelta could hardly go any better than this, only week 1 behind us and we are already past our record number of stage wins in a single GT: Sam Bewley won 4 stages in 2016 edition of Tour de France.
It is also pretty special that it is Josef Cerny who is helping him the most after a lot of bad years, it is a nice suprise to see him doing good job as that final lead out man. Also fine to see some pretty solid points from Stocek after him being in KOM jersey for a few days, now being in top 3 in U25 competition.
Only too bad this is like only 2nd (really) positive race in this disastrous season. Come on AI gods, I really need you to continue letting my team winning at this rate.

After years of the sprint lottery, it really is something to see Gaviria dominate like this. Really can't remember the last time it happened, but he may be single-handedly saving Moser's season. The strange thing is the other top sprinters are still bouncing in and out of the top 10—consistency is really only for Gaviria so far.
Unfortunately for us, AKA was once again out of position and behind the mass of other sprinters. Looked like he was in a solid spot leading up to the run-in, but at the 2 km photo he's suddenly farther back and out of contention. Disappointing.

That might have been the last sprint we get to contest so it's good that we bagged a few more points. The TT is a non event for us, but after that we need to keep going for KOM points.

With the TT coming up now, Foss has the chance to be in a prime GC spot. Bernal will take red, but behind him there arent many riders who are better tt riders than Foss around and its only 36s to the likes of Stüssi and Choi.
Also looks like Ansons will defend his youth jersey for one more stage before the better climber will surely get rid of him. Wish Plapp would be there to take it over but he is currently outside the top 100 gc spots which sucks a lot

Consistency really is the key word after week one of the Vuelta. Gaviria consistent in his winning ways, the other top-5 sprinters consistently awful. What makes it worse, is it really looked like Halvorsen was in the perfect position with 1 km to go. 79 rouleur Ruiz not even being used by the game is such a shame.
Next two stages important for Aular, as the main mission is losing as little time as possible.

Seems like Hsu has his worst results when he gets to wear the green jersey. Luckily he dropped back in the ranking again then.
Probably our most important stage is coming up with Mano in the TT. I doubt he can beat Bernal, but I can hope. |

Losing a bunch of time in the TT is no surprise. We'll need some very strong climbing performances to win this.

Foss sitting in 3rd is a fantastic situation. Would be awesome if he can carry that to a good gc result. Of cpurse that puts him out of the break business but weve got multiple proven options as weöl as plapp for that. Very intrigued how this will continue
