Newtons poor mountains team finally came back to hurt them though Jorgenson just so strong on his own good to see PCM throwing everyone at the break to break them.
Lunke tactics kind of annoying from a neutral point of view but smart IMO the most points they could score was keeping the break down even if they were not going to beat Jorgenson
Carapaz just rode like a lunatic up the last two climbs the break seemed to just stop working with him so he did it all I'm not as familiar with this PCM but this felt like a real PCM06 throwback when big riders lose time and used to be in every break after. Quite cool and good to see him win KOM.
Garcia winning was so strange my theory is with him being high on GC (he would have been 2nd overall at one point) Ablendo worked for him and that preserved his energy but not sure still a really cool rider to win.
Glanbia with 5 in the break LOL never seen that in PCM but loved the tactics and glad it kind of worked for them

Satisfying last stage, with a good result from Iturria to win one more place.
4th GC, one stage win and minor points there and there give us a quite satisfying race. Happy to see that, for one time, it's Gjensidige who works for the race leaders.
Also that's one goal achieved, and from now, less nightmares about Catalunya.
Thanks for the reports jt, and for the appreciated notes. And congrats Mre!

Ah shucks! Well the honeymoon with Dion had to end sometime. Congrats to Mre and thanks again for the amazing reporting Jt
Still though, can't complain with the solid points haul - it's another step in the right direction, just racking up decent points from everywhere.

Great reporting and cool to see your notes aswell.
Congrats to Jorgensen and co. We were on damage controll from the first pedal stroke, as beating him mano e mano seemed to hard. 2nd Place overal, we'll take that.

Unfortunately, we failed to reach Top 5 as it was one of our goals and we barely reached Top 10. Still, Teams Classification win + stage win + 2nd in the TTT stage + 4 riders in Top 20 is a more than decent overall result with good ranking points haul to boot.
I'm puzzled that a pre-race favourite like Carapaz is way down in 29th overall, which doesn't give ranking points and will only get ranking points for his 2nd in the last stage as well as the KoM, but for a rider of his caliber this is very low tally.
Congrats to Mresuperstar for the overall win and to jt1109 for the reports

What an audacious ride from Chamorro, shame he blew up in the end but what a way to achieve our win goal that would have been. Hard to know what to make of Penasa's performance. Certainly didn't underperform, but finishing 5 seconds off a spot on the podium does feel like a missed opportunity - I suppose there's probably half a dozen managers thinking the same thing given how close together everyone was.
All in all a successful enough outing without any standout results. Just chugging alokg, picking up points here and there. Hopefully the sponsors won't be too disappointed with having to settle for a top 5 in our win goal.

Really not a great race for us, but to be expected in a C2 field that is as strong as this one currently is. Thanks for the great reports jt they were great to read through and congrats to mre on a nice win for Jorgenson

Cool race with Jorgenson taking an expected win, congrats Mre! Carapaz lighting up the mountain stages was also cool even though it ultimately didn't serve Omantel much. Commiserations Aycon. Great reports all-around, jt, thanks for that.
As for us I wasn't expecting anything and didn't get anything. We entered with the aim of going on breaks. My boys delivered on that front but there were no rewards for us at the end of the day. Here's hoping for better days to come.

Team did just enough (and got some help) to capture our first GC win of the season. Hopefully, the first of many for Jorgenson this season.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. And thanks for the reports!

Congrats to Mre and Jorgenson, a great ride and deserved top dog. Second time Carapaz has gone AWOL in an early stage, he was able to recover it last time, this time just the KOM. I wonder if his low HI is getting him caught out on the hilly stages.
Revard is the hero for us, getting in the breaks as requested and picking up some small stage points to avoid a zero pointer. But we needed someone else other than Mostov as our second rider to really make the best of it. Doesn't sound like a great race for any of the PCT teams so I guess I can't be too bothered.
Thanks to jt for the great reports, nice to have another reporter on board, hopefully you enjoyed it enough to do some more.

Honestly not a bad points score for us. 7th GC and 2nd in youth plus maybe some stage results means at least 30 points in a race where I didn't think we would get nearly as much. Good result for us and I am really excited to see Davila and the team getting another top 10 in GC.
Congrats to Jorgenson and MRE for the GC win. Gonna be a fight to beat Jorgenson all year long but he was the deserving winner.
Thanks for the excellent reports as well!

Awesome performance by Primozic to finish 3rd overall

Looking at the good things first. Good result at the final stage from Carapaz and winning the KoM shirt. At least something nice at the end.
But overall a not satisfying result. He shouldcompete for the GC and not for KoM in first place. Sure our poor TTT performance was not suited for a strong competition like this but even without this he wouldnt not have made it into Top 10 also. So the first weeks of this season hasnt really been in our favour when it comes to GC results but maybe it will get better from here on.
Thanks for all the reports JT! And congratulation to Newton and the great win! |

Thanks for all the fun and interesting report jt!
For us this race was really good. Harm snatched our first win this season, finishing second again at stage 5 and grabbing the Points Jersey! Great job from him. I am especially surprised how well he is doing on the hilly stages. The 9th in the final GC is also good. The competition was hard and even "better" riders are behind us.
What I am also satisfied is with the performance of Darren Van Bekkum, he should really a very sold race and finishing 4th in the White jersey is hopefully a huge promise for the future.
Overall again a W for us.

Not a good race for us (mainly due to underperforming in the TTT, I think)… At least Kozhatayev tried attacking on the last stage, but there was no chance of getting away when Jorgensen opened up. Congrats Mre
