We are back!
It's been a while. Which is quite an understatement considering the plans I had for this thread. I wanted to post updates and the whole shebang. But, I did nothing. A bit open-hearted of me but yeah, a depression crept up on me which took my whole drive and ruined my fun in everything so I abandoned this project and left it like it was. Which sucks because I didn't keep track of anything at all which I have to all do now. Anyway, I'm back. I'm in a better place, focused on family etc. And I'm feeling ready to kick it again. I have a second baby on the way due this summer, which will probably be terrible timing for the new season but fuck it . I will be reviewing the season so far for anyone that doesn't follow CT. And as the title of the thread suggests, alot of it will be focused on the (for now) King of CT, Lahcen Saber.
This is all the time I have for now, but in the coming days, weeks, months I will be collecting race results etc and listing them all out quite nicely for you all to enjoy. See you soon

Sad to hear about your hard times, but glad to hear you are doing better. Welcome back!
Your team seems to be doing quite well, which should help with the motivation of getting back into the game though it seems that despite everything you kept an eye on your team.

Glad to hear you're getting better, especially with a second child. But be prepared that the second child not just doubles the work and effort needed
But I managed to start a team with a newborn second child and my team is quite succesful ... in the years to come ... hopefully ... maybe.

Sorry you went through this en glad you got better.
Congratulation for the baby, and in a more trivial aspect, on the very good season!

Glad to read you're feeling better indeed! Looking forward to see what else Team Lahcen has in store for us.

Start as you mean to finish!
Our debut and start of the season would happen in Australia, with us getting a wildcard for the Down Under Classic! We would throw in our big guns right from the bat, with our Starman Lahcen Saber showing up at the starting line. Our fast Moroccan had quite the reputation in the MG world. For all the wrong reasons. May it be our lack of experience with the world of MG, or just our cocky attitude, we believed in Saber to deliver big. And boy, did he do just that.
Against all odds, he managed to beat everyone to the line and kickoff his own comeback in great style. "I'm Lahcen and this is Colombini!"
The first CT race of the season was quite succesful for us aswel. Loic Vliegen Surprised even the team director as he managed to cross the finish line in 4th place in Gisborne. Adding to the initial succes of our new team.
But we came crashing down from our cloud when we got our reality check in the Vuelta Al Tachira. It made us realise we didn't have a well rounded team at all. And needed to rely on moments of greatness from a select group of riders.
And greatness we saw, as we travelled down to Costa Rica for the Clasico San Jose. After a late attack from Vliegen we thought it was all over when he started the sprint from 8th. But surprising everyone, he rushed forward to take our second win of the season!
And with that, we rounded off our first month in the ManGame. Sitting comfortably 3rd in CT with 2 wins out of 4 races competed in you could say we couldn't have started better. I'm having incredible amounts of fun so far. And I hope to be an increasingly bigger part of this community and great group of people. This was the first part of my recap of this season (so far.)

Lets review our Team Goals!
Reviewing my entire season might be too much work, sorry but I'll try my best. For now, lets see how our goals went. I had chosen pretty ambitious goals as I wanted to get a pretty big budget for our first season.
C1 Baltic Chain Tour Top 5
It didn't look too bright with Saber in 7th place before the final stage. But he pulled off a 2nd place finish to take home 3rd in the GC!
With a late attack after a hard race, Saber managed to shake off everyone for a solo win! The race starting in my home town Deinze is the cherry on top
Again a goal where we counted on Saber. He managed to not only win the opening stage, but also the third and final stage to take home the GC, and Points jerseys. Taking our total tally to 3 out of 3 race goals!
Saber was present once again, but this time in service of Lampaert who is the better cobbler. It almost worked out, as Lampaert just came short in the sprint to finish in 6th place.
The only goal that's still not finished, a top 5 finish is still possible. As of the last CT Update, we sit in 4th place thanks to our hero Saber. No doubt it will be a close finish, but if I'm being a little cocky. I'd almost call it a done deal .
All in all, I'd give this set of goals an 11/10. I never expected to actually achieve these goals, especially still being in the running for a top 5 in the CT Standings.

Those are some crazy good results in goal races for a new team
Saber is gonna bring in more money next season than he cost this year I love that he found a great home even if it's towards the end of his career

Yeah no doubt those goals were well planned and Saber (and almost Lampaert) have been delivering on them massively!

Agree, that's quite an achievement for a new team - one I can still only dream of even in my 4th year
The Saber gamble has definitely paid off - and I admit that I though the chances were close to 0 percent, with sprinters usually not being consistent and Saber even less (in recent history). But you obviously found what it takes to make him perform, congrats.

@red I should be thanking you for selling him to me. I couldn’t have dreamt it that he would perform like this.
@Abhi I would rather say it’s luck rather than a good planning but yeah
@Fabi I can get quite delusional with my planning so its nice to get it right for once . I definitely made some mistakes in planning with Saber, otherwise he wouldve performed even better. But, in hindsight everything makes more sense.

The future is now. The decision has been made, Adler Pilsner and Aalterpaint will not extend their sponsorships with the team. And so a new sponsor must be found for next season. It has not been confirmed that Colombini Group will extend the contract but it looks likely they will.
In the coming days more info will be shared about possible sponsors and what will happen with the team in the future. Belgium will no longer be a focus nation for the team, and the question remains what will happen to the Micro project the team director had talked about so much. It's rumoured a big sponsor like Gucci could step up to the plate. But a sponsor closer to home, like one from Malta or Liechtenstein could happen aswel. The director has already expressed his feelings about San Marino being too crowded with two teams. If they stay or go is to be decided in the coming days. Stay tuned for more news!

I guess all the team's success has outgrown the current sponsors. Should be a bright future with all that incoming capital
