Lander listed as top 3 star favorite -> 70th place.
I mean, obviously I can't complain since my race has gone well overall, but I'm just not sure how that happens... twice.

Ack! Sinkeldam was so close. Unfortunately, I have to think he just didn't have any legs left, otherwise not even trying today is tough. Jensen is just the much stronger rider though. In the end, we still get a good chunk of points from his 2nd place finish, and he earned a few more from holding the KOM jersey all race. But one of these days I'd really like to take a jersey!
On the other hand, Aranburu really came through at the end here. For the first time this year, he rode his own race and really showed his skillset as a hybrid. He doesn't have the kick to match the best puncheurs, but his resistance really allows him to grind out as guys get dropped. A bit of panic early when he missed the split, but he pulled it together. Tough call with the 14 second gap to Teuns at the end too - it cost him a GC spot. But overall it was another good day.
10th on GC is great. We don't usually do very well in PTHC, but we ought to try, since 10th here is better than 4th in a C1 race. Aranburu came through, slightly higher than I even hoped for. Of course, we would have loved to have more depth points, but to be fair, we really didn't bring a team capable of that. So I'm very happy with this result.
Overall, we showed the jersey a lot here, we had a few nice breakaways, wore a couple of jerseys at times, and got a GC top 10. Lander's MIA notwithstanding, everyone did their job. I had pretty much written this race off, so I consider that a major success. It may not be enough to do much in the rankings, but I think it's enough to turn around our momentum for the last chunk of the season.
Congrats to Evonik! It was nice to see the type of riders who should do well with these profiles all featuring near the front.
Thank you Ulrich for consistently great reports as well. Unsurprising at this point in your reporting career, but still very appreciated!

Great last stage from both Teuns and Raileanu to make up GC places. Finally someone steps up when it matters and gets us much needed points. Normally used to seeing the opposite happen on last stages Honestly, I was expecting another close to zero pointer from here but these 70 odd points will be very important in the relegation battle.
Great race overall I think. Big congrats to Evonik for the win and thanks to Ulrich for the great reports

Meh :/ Decent result for Lutsenko and Roman at the end, but expected a little more from.the stages. Congrats to the Colombians for making the most of this race. Thanks for the great reports.

I can't ask for anything more than that, Beltran was fantastic!!
Two big stage results and 2nd overall, damn I should've picked a top 5 goal here
Beltran usually struggles on the final stage, but looks like he was well protected for most of the stage. I was a bit nervous seeing him respond to so many attacks, but seems like he was able to rest up when the pace eased before the final climb. Gaudu fell behind a bit today, but 27th is a reasonable result and he clearly did a good job supporting Beltran. Definitely our best Balkans since we've been able to come here. Over 200 pts from my count
We scored our 3rd sponsor goal of the season and with huge scoring we made a big step towards our standings goal. Beltran cracks the 1000 pts plateau with 3 races remaining. I'm getting scared how much I'll have to pay him in renewals
Thanks to Ulrich for the consistently awesome reports and congrats to knockout on the victory

I guess "No comment" is the most productive comment I can find about PCM20 and my team... Everything else would just be ranting.
Congrats to Evonik, Cedevita and Aker - I guess the three best suited riders took the podium, so at least at the top the results are fine.
And commiserations especially to UBS, Tryg and Festina (and Indosat, but you got more than enough of a consolation prize ).

Cort Nielsen going full Zubeldia on his way to 12th is a nice result, and some useful depth scoring as well. Turgis helping me out in renewals by once again being pretty useless is also nice
Thanks for the reports Ulrich and congrats knockout! |

Thanks guys!
Im not happy about the Evonik racing, Lopez was too often too isolated which is weird when the support team is basically built for races like this withmo/hi hybrids as main domestiques. But that doesnt matter when Lopez is able to deliver anyway with stage wins, points jersey and GC to secure the rare win goal success.
Congrats to the other podium finishers, hard to inagine a better podium here.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

My riders performed horrible in this race. To see the likes of Koretzky, Aidan and Jang be left behind on a breakaway like that hurt a lot.
Congrats knockout for the deserved win

Double congratulations, knockout! Lopez proving he was the strongest here, delivering the expected win and GC. Must admit I got excited when Amezawa did great work, but clearly bot Lopez and Beltran we’re simply stronger. It feels like we are «always» loosing to Beltran on the pure hilly/hybrid races, which is kind of frustrating Congratulations on a great race for Beltran, red!
A GC podium is of course a result we will happily take here. Kwiat was very consistent when it mattered. He was never the strongest, but just behind, and grabbing a podium spot with only one stage podium, is a nice surprise, and it will also give us some points to continue scoring regarding the hunt for the PCT title. |

You did beat us in Pologne, Lithuania and Balkans last year
But yeah, Beltran has been on his best form this year

Very true about last year, I was only thinking about this season when writing the previous post. We really struggle to win/beat the head to head races vs. Beltran, if there’s no prologue or TT to complicate things for Beltran |

You won't have to worry about Beltran next year, when you're in PT

Lovely work to bridge across to the break and hold on to it just long enough to take the KOM. Gotta be happy with a stage win and KOM here from Jensen, great effort by him!
Thanks for the reports and congrats on the GC knockout!

What a dumb race. Betancourt and Siskevicius kept alternating between gaining and losing a bunch of time. If only each focused on one thing only could've scored some points.
