New season of RTG starts on Sunday with the TDU. The preview will be up tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good season and looking forward to it myself
Any thoughts on additions to the season, reports, etc. please feel free to suggest the same and I will try to include them as far as possible.
In case anyone wants to report the RTG races, please let me know. I will share the DB, startlists and stage files in that case. You will need PCM20 to report.

There has been some talk about the low stat points that our riders start with in the game and the slow progression, given how strong the current crop of young riders seem to be getting when they start off. Can't say I don't agree with that thought. While I did start RTG as a long term project, things have changed since then, both irl and in PCM and I do believe some changes are necessary to keep the game relevant. Mad props to those who've been here from the start, and also afterwards, for their patience having no real highlights for the riders to speak of at all.
I had been thinking about a couple of changes to introduce to the game even before the latest discussions started and would like to share them here. Please feel free to share your opinion on them and any further suggestions, whether completely new, or an extension of the things I will talk about, are welcome.
Change of rider specialties
I was thinking thinking of introducing two points in the game, one at age 24, and another at age 29, wherein the riders will be allowed to change their specialties, but only to adjacent ones. For example, a sprinter can start focusing on cobbles, or becoming a roleur, while a classics specialist can become a Northern classics rider or a puncher. I will put up a full list of what I consider adjacent and would be open to a discussion on the same.
Change in stats increase
While I don't know if I should increase the starting stats of new riders, as that would not be the fair to the existing riders I think, I am thinking about opening up the stat increase and make it less limited, as it currently is. Still thinking about how to go about it exactly, but any suggestions are welcome. Max stat limits per season will still be applicable (something like the max +3 that currently exists).
GP Increase
I am also thinking about increasing the GP by +1 or +2 going ahead, right from the start. This will allow some more stat increases per year to catch up with the peloton. In case this happens, I'll allow the existing riders to catch up by providing extra RDs at the start of the season, depending on the number of years they have already been in the game.
Any thoughts on the above and more for the improvement of the game is welcome.

I think either of the last two changes to allow the RTG riders to be more competitive more quickly might make sense.
Not sure about the first one - could be fun but not sure it is necessary.
My other thought is to drop/weaken some real young riders that are effectively "replaced' by RTG riders. Rather than adding them all just as strong as in reality. Maybe for every RTG rider you weaken one random real rider to a mid-level domestique
That at least means as RTG riders reach their potential they aren't faced by all the real riders who are strong in their discipline as well as their RTG rivals.

I don't care if better riders are younger or older than the RTG crew. As long as the db remains balanced (=same amount of top stars, etc) our riders will catch up sooner or later.
Certainly, faster improvements especially early in the careers would be appreciated. Our first generation, now 23 years old, is still struggling to make much of an impact, but next season (with 90 RD) could be promising.

As I said before, this was a great plan but RL riders peaking at a young age kidna ruined it. I didn't mind the bas results in the first seasons, but it seems we're progressing much slower than guys like Pogacar, Evenepoel, Hirschi, etc.
So I think that in the spirit of the game of "normal" progress, we should get our big breakthrough at 24 next year, with a lot of points and as you suggested the chance of changing speciality.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Basically, we all know what it feels like to be clean riders going up against doped to the gills riders.
Pretty realistic, IMO. |

None of the riders has even won a stage yet, not even from the botd. I am strongly in favour of more points.

I really don't feel like it's my place to voice my opinions in place of users who have gone through several seasons already. I'm just a noob still. So I won't go into too much detail.
I'll just say that I think the rider specialties shift is a cool idea, and that I think increasing the available points for our riders per year would be a positive change. I do appreciate the gradual development, but it's difficult to swallow since the competition doesn't follow similar development trajectories and appear as superstars much younger.

I believe Levante won from the break last year - so that is 1.

World Championships are up and that's that for the races this season. I'll be away for the next two days, so expect the final Points update and the GP scores on Sunday or Monday.
