You won't see us in C1, but we look forward to sharing the road on C2/C2HC races. Good luck

Duck For Cover!
19. Equinor Pro Cycling
Cons:
- Talents are good, but not much point scoring to be done taking away from team total (copy and paste from last season
- Nizzolo aside, the leaders lack the acc or versatility to be, well, good
- Nizzolo may have to go to C1 or risk Andorra-type races to score much
Pros:
- Have some form of leader on almost every terrain
- Habtom is just a phenomenally sexy leadout man
- Flatbeasts!
Top Points Scorer: Giacomo Nizzolo
I already made my major criticism of the Italian fastman above, but I also must tell you of my admiration for his skillset. The new figurehead of the Norwegian outfit is a very fast sprinter who is good over hills and an asset to any CT or PCT team - though I fear he may be more suited to the latter.
Rider to Watch: Romeo Quicibal
A tough one to pick in a squad devoid of punchy riders or proficient baroudeurs, but the Guatemalan is maybe the most powerful of their flatbeasts and could fool the peloton with a late attack, or find himself in the minor places in the windy flat classics. He does lack in punch, though.
Oh Equinor. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do this. For the second year in a row I have to place them bottom of the division (though I hope much like their debut year, they can prove me wrong). It's not to say they haven't improved. It's just that their top leader may not do much big scoring, and if you take away Teklit and the Italian they then have nobody really capable of notching up more than 50 points, excluding freak results.
So let's look at the leaders. Nizzolo is a top sprinter, but I've just been informed he rides for Telia. So I guess it's his alter ego, Modolo, who rides here! Modolo himself is a cool rider and much more than that, he's a very good one. I do fear that unlike the years of Geschke dominating, the days of the hilly sprinter wreaking havoc on the third division are gone. Sure, there's days (and some in C1, if planning goes right) where he could do well, and it's not to say he couldn't score on the flats. It's just that picking up scraps behind the Guarnieris and Sallehs of this division doesn't bring much goodies. He'll bring in over half the points needed to keep them away from the wooden spoon, but not loads else.
Away from him I can only really spare sympathy for African duo Habtom and Teklit. The former is a very cool leadout with his great backups, whilst the latter is a solid, if unspectacular, 77HI rider who will trudge along collecting top 10s all year, hoping to do a Brataschuk and sneak a big GC result. Bugge isn't a bad option when the roads go up if he gets to have an attack, but isn't going to repeat the heroics of Taborre last season. Hoem is... there. Eventually at least, when he finally catches up after his pitiful acceleration. Other than the top three the nicest things I can say are: Taborre saved their ass last season so whatever, the others are from their country or nice flatbeast leadouts, and I will say in this team's defense it's a long-term plan they have going on.
Really this is just not a great team - I'd be hard pressed to call them a good one. All of their leaders bar two are uninspiring and won't surprise at all, and they have no cool baroudeurs or surprise riders. Bleh!
After several, so called experts, have predicted us to hold the shorter end of the stick this season. We feel the need to respond. The level of dissrespect that is shown towards our new shiny diamond, Modolo, is something many people now feel will have an impact on Daniel Afoa this season.
Daniel Afoa, is the loanee from Xero Racing p/b Octagon, and is rumoured to have been kicked out of his appartment this evening, after the latest prediction was published. Furthermore our source, who wish not to be named, explained that the eviction was due to lack of rent payments.
This latest holabalo might have permanent impact on the 2 seasons long relationship between Equinor and Zero Points Racing.

Xero Racing p/b Octagon are disgusted by the recent developments, and for the second time today are going to be speaking to the management at a CT team to find out why our good name is being insulted. We are especially disturbed by the evicting of Daniel Afoa from his Norwegian apartments - he is currently very worried and calling us, muttering about how he did, in fact, pay his rent.
We are also wondering why there are rumours about that this has happened because a predictor known only as "jandal" has predicted them to finish 19th. Xero also wish to respond to the name calling of "Zero Points Racing" by leaving a little reminder of last season's rankings:
6 | | Xero Racing p/b Octagon | 1343 | 23 | | Statoil Pro Cycling | 288 |
We hope that we can sort through this mess with the Norwegian police and our friendly loan partners Equinor Pro Cycling and come to a conclusion on this "holabalo".
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Tesfar Teklit managed to sprint his way into the 8th spot in a hectic finale. Tommy Zaini from Compal-Merida managed to out fox everybody else and could raise his hands in front of Cyril Gautier and Joshua Edmondson. We are very pleased with the outcome in the opening race. This is a step in the right direction, as we are still looking for our first ever win.

A great day out for us in the first stage of Vuelta al Tachira with Modolo being edged out only by Kip and Von Hoff. We are still two whole places behind our main goal of getting our first ever win, but we are getting close and we love what we see.
| Sascha Modolo | Sprinter |
After two 3rd places in a row, Sascha had a bad position and couldn't get anything better then 6th. With Modolo in 6th, Ismaël Kip from Festina crushed the rest and took yet another stage win.
| Sascha Modolo | Sprinter |
With the course on stage 5 being more challanging, we had high hopes for Modolo. However, he had a horrible posistion entering the sprint and was not able to pull out more then a top 10 finish. Once again Kip from Festina-Canal+ took it on the line, yet again.
| Bjørn Tore Hoem | Leader |
A mountain ITT was on the table for the riders, and Bjørn Tore crawled his way to a top 15 finish with his 13th place. Pinot, once again, crushed the field.
| Bjørn Tore Hoem | Leader |
Another hilly stage, another Pinot win. For us, it was Bjørn Tore who defended our colors. He came in with the winners group in a 24th position.
| Bjørn Tore Hoem | Leader |
Another hilly stage, another Pinot win. For us, it was Bjørn Tore who defended our colors. He came in + 3'46 behind Pinot in a 21st place.
| Vegard Robinson Bugge | Domestique |
The last stage, and our last chance to make something happen. Before the flag dropped, we had hopes that maybe Modolo could get something done in the final. However, a late attack by Dylan Teuns from the Team Cerveceria Costa Rica squad made the pace far to high for him to conted. Bugge made our day brighter by sprinting + 33' behind the winner Teuns into a 5th place. This race has been good for us, seeing our colors up there in the finish on several stages. We now feel more confident that our team can finally snatch that first win.
Also, great reporting by roturn and chapeu to Thibaut Pinot and the GCN ProTeam.

What a disaster of a day for both us and the other teams with sprinters. Johannes Schinnagel from Oberfranken completly ruined the party, as even our guy Mikiel Habtom got dropped. Kangangi came in 28th with the peleton.

Good result by Tesfaye!
For future updates I'd suggest mentioning the name of the race at some point in the post. This time it's obvious but might not always be the case when catching up with HQ posts a couple of days later or not being up to date with other divisions
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!
