great peace of work jph! I'd say Telkom > Hugo Boss and Generali > Coldeportes though...

a close one between Ayubowan and Strava additzionally

Thanks - I put Telkom behind Hugo Boss due to the effect I expect America to have on their PPRD, and also because of the fact that the remaining races for Hugo Boss play to their strengths. With Generali and Coldeportes, it was mainly due to the potential for Guerao to score heavily in HC races, and also the fact that I expect Uran to ride the two mountain races.

I wouldn't expect it to be close between Ayubowan and Strava though. Strava are well ahead right now and I can't see us catching them unless they no-score in Rheden - the massive score they'll likely get there plus the depth they have in the remaining races should be more than enough. Much more likely that it'll be close between Ayubowan and Meiji in my opinion.

woah awesome overview and prediction there! cant find much to disagree with either!

Thanks, good to hear from someone else involved in the promotion battle!

I guess our differences are just a fair thing of beliefs and different judgements that are marginal...

what I see in Generali is that they have plenty of upside surprising material, while Coldeportes has just the two guys that are either successful or can fail big time - maybe the most unpredictable variable here...

with Telkom looking at the first hilly stage your predictions look decent - but then again, the Africans have so much firepower there...but I'd love to see Boss marching through, and indeed, on the right side of the luck they can score massively with their puncheurs team

for your side it's just the classical "hoping for the best but expecting the worst" - a statement I very much like to use for my own side - for Meiji to come close it needs a Kinoshita that dominates further in the upcoming races, as all other guys only look like secondary scorers currently - and tbh I also see more scoring potential in your team than in Stravas for the last races (really depending on depth results in Rehden, which could become a crazy race), but the advantage they have indeed is pretty handy

Either way, a lot of happy faces with your predictions and quite some of my favourite teams including yours up there: Fantastic! I would really like to see a real go of yours in the WT next year jph Cool

Fantastic review of the promotion battle! I think you are pretty spot on about us, in that it would require a pretty "perfect" final few races from Kinoshita for us to get into a promotion spot. He has been fairly unbeatable so far this year, so my thinking is it has to even out at some point. (I'm still hoping for a Japan Cup win though).

Now on the other hand, all my other key riders have severely under performed (imo) and even just a slight improvement from all of them in their final races, plus only a slight reduction in Kinoshita's performances (which is what I expect) could see us challenge one of the last few promotion spots as well.

At the very least it should be an exciting battle!

thought about it a little more and also Arrinera and Spotify might have a real chance of taking some big points and joining the battle, as some very good races fur puncheurs and sprinters are left on the line...

I have Ulissi, he can be successful or fail big time from now to the end of the season Pfft

I'd also put us above Coldeportes, but it's going to be close.

disagree here, you have the depth to take one or two surprise results from brekaways or overperformances...I don't see the same for Coldeportes...

A bit late but very nice preview for the promotion fight. Would only be better if you would have included which leaders are expected in the final races (Iirc you asked some managers for their schedule anyway so would propably not be much more work) but great stuff anyway Smile
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Stat Gains

One of the most unique features of Ayubowan this season is the number of developing riders. We had 12 riders of our own on the books who haven't yet reached their full potential, as well as 2 riders loaned out - Nidush Nirantha Fernando at Meiji, and Sanju Dimantha Sembukutti at Sauber.

Not all of those riders did develop, with Chris Opie, Naveen Ruchira and Sujith Silva unable to acquire the experience they needed. However the remaining 11 all did, and it's our pleasure to present to you those riders with their improved stats for the 2017 season.

The most notable of them is Adam Yates, who now becomes a rider who we hope can fight for the top 10 in any stage race he enters. Sameera Chatarunga and Hugh Carthy still have some developing to do but now become useful as domestiques - as does Madushanka Perera. Christophe Laporte and Suranga Ranaweera also have more development ahead but will prove useful now with their versatility. And Tushantha Rajapakshage, Nidush Nirantha Fernando, Nihal Silva, Sanju Dimantha Sembukutti and Amith Udaya Kumara have developed further also - but are still a season or two away from being anything more than squad fillers.

Looks great, especially Yates. Give Yates that training and he'll be a star, he has everything it takes for that but an 80+ mountain stat.

Otherwise Carthy, Laporte and Chatarunga look really interesting, so does Ranaweera for the future.

It looks really nice. I like the look of that Carthy dude. But also Yates will be very cool especially after some training. Ranaweera and Chatarunga will also be very valuable.

Season Review

We ended this season in 8th place in the team rankings, a better performance than we would ever have realistically hoped for at the start of the season. More importantly, we look to have secured our return to the PT for next season thanks to the enlargement of the division and the disbandment of our friends at Metinvest. We expect a challenging season ahead as a result, but things can only go better than they did last time!

When you look at the individual rankings it's clear that our strength in depth really paid off. While our highest ranked rider was only 27th - with less than half the points of rankings winner Kinoshita - we managed to put 6 riders in the top 84 of the rankings. Particularly impressive here in our eyes are Yates and Ranaweera who scored more than we would ever have expected from them at the current stage in their development. As for the 5 riders who failed to score, they at least contributed as teammates through the season.

Where we fell down somewhat this season was in our goals. We planned them out with Gautier in mind, but his inability to share leadership with Bellis in most races doomed us somewhat. Still we managed to complete one goal and missed out upon another by only a few places, so it could have been far worse than it was.

Good to see I wasnt the only one struggling with my goals Pfft Although I gotta admit that the most of your goals were a tad more realistic than mine!

Pretty impressive that you managed to promote (by the looks of things) with a talentbase this big, surely gotta be interesting to see how you will rebuild for PT this time around!

Mine were still a little ambitious - even with decent AI we probably would have failed most of them anyway Pfft

Thanks, was unexpected but makes developing them further a lot easier than I'd expected. Ideally we'll add a couple of leaders and build on the depth we had, look forward to seeing what you do with your hilly squad.

Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, I've not been active at all on the site (or on Skype) in recent times. A combination of personal issues and a lot of stress brought about by the exam period have pretty much made me unable to function for the past month or so, and as a result contributing on here has been pushed out of my list of priorities completely.

Even now I'm still not in a state where I feel I can contribute on a regular basis, but I hope that things will change for the better soon. I hope to remain involved in the Man-Game, but for the foreseeable future don't expect great activity from me - if by the time pre-season tasks begin I'm still unable to contribute then I will consider whether to disband my team in order to avoid delaying the game. But of course, I hope it doesn't come to that.

Just letting you all know so I don't seem to have disappeared without a trace. I'm still here, just less frequently than usual.
