Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen - Stage 1
Criterium with some difficulties like small hills and eight cobble sections. It won't be easy stage for my helpers, but I hope that I'll finish at good place. Let's go!
Team Roster and Startlist:
The difficult conditions doesn't discouraged to attack some riders, who maked numerous breakaway. The group reached advantage 1'50 ahead peloton.
Some riders were struggling from peloton, include all my team-mates, except Gretsch, who shortly afterwards crashed at the cobbles. I couldn't count for team-mates help
30 km before the finish breakaway was about to be chased, so the most valiant riders (Kreder and Rowe) decided to attack. There were chased after the cobble section.
I decided to ride follow the Topsport sprint train, but...
...3.5 km before the finish line Maes decided to attack solo...
Race results:
Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen - Stage 2
Totally flat stage with some intermediate sprints, I want to keep podium place in GC and U-25 classification (I'm at 2nd place, but I'll ride in leader's jersey because leader of this classification, Maes, will ride in GC leader jersey).
I attacked because I wanted to gain some points at intermediate sprint. May was my lead-out man
Unfortunately Callueew was faster, I was second. After the sprint I was dropped to peloton.
Second sprint for Hutchings, the third for another breakaway rider - Blanchy. The group was chased shortly after the last sprint.
It's time to begin preparing for final sprint - it's looking promising, but I'm tired after morning breakaway
Spoiler
Victory for Van Hummel, I was 9th.
Race results:
Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen - Stage 3
The last chance for change something in GC and in points classification. There will be some hills and two cobble sections, I think that peloton won't reach the finish line complete, so it promises interesting stage. Let's start!
Tolles, one of breakaway members, was fastest at first intermediate sprint.
At the cobbles section some riders were struggling down, luckily (thank to my team-mates) I survived them
Second and third sprints for Van Dousselaere, he reached 1'33 advantage ahead the group with GC contenders (include me and Kittel), but he was chased 28 km before finish line.
6.6 km before finish Neyens decided to attack in Maes's style!
Shortly after that Van Hummel, the most dangerous sprinter, decided to counter, so I also decided to chase Neyens.
Race results:
Summary:
Spoiler I'm very happy after this race - I won in points classification and I was 2nd in GC, to complete happiness lacked only stage win. Greetings and thanks for the support! |

I've been looking at the story and I thought I already posted near the start, but apparently not. It's a really nice concept and I like the reports.
John is already getting some nice results, which can only be a sign of great things yet to come. Maybe it won't be so long until the titular question is answered... |

@pcm2009fan Thanks a lot This is my first story and nice to see comments like this. I think John will show apogee of his skills, while he'll move to better team (unfortunately his contract with Thuringer Energie will end in 2011)
Eneco Ronde van het Groene Hart
After two weeks of break (for me, of course) it's time for the next race - flat one-day race in the Netherlands, I'm not in the best shape and if I'll finish in top 10, it will be a success.
Team Roster & Startlist:
Max decided to breakaway with few riders, include Hayman and Hoogerland.
My team-mate was the last rider from the group, who was catched by peloton (exactly 14.4 km before finish).
Spoiler
I was feeling bad, so I decided to not take part in final sprint. Victory for 38 years old (!) rider - Eeckhout, I was 31st.
Race results:
Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - The Preview
Now it's time for move from rainy Benelux to the sunny Spain. My objectives? I hope I'll finish in top 10 of the points classification. Greetings and thanks for your support! |

Spoiler I forgot to mention about it, he is leader of this ranking since Eneco Ronde van het Groene Hart race
Now I'll be more noticeable in peloton - I'm leader of Continental Tour rankings and I'll ride in nice white jersey.
I'll publish report from all stages of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon soon, I already played two first stages of this race (if you really can't wait, you can get spoiler via PM) and I won't publish detailed report from mountain/hilly stages. |

Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - Stage 1
My form is falling down, I don't promise good result at this stage.
Team Roster & Startlist:
As always (almost), breakaway won intermediate sprints - 1st for Minguez, 2nd and 3rd for Lopez.
Patrick won both mountain sprints and became leader of the KoM classification.
8 km before finish we started finish lead-out. It's looking middling, but I hope I'll show my power!
Race results:
Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - Stage 2 (ITT)
Race results:
Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - Stage 3
Victory for Vazquez, who attacked after last intermediate sprint. Our team had small success - Kittel won first points sprint ahead dangerous sprinters like Jeżowski and Rossi.
Race results:
Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - Stage 4
One of the morning breakaway riders - Santos - survived all climbs and won the queen stage of this race.
Race results:
Vuelta a Castilla y Leon - Stage 5
Well, it was flat stage, but I wasn't took part in final sprint because I was tired after yesterday climbs. Abakoumov won the stage ahead Pinto and Gazvoda.
Race results:
Summary:
Spoiler
It was the worst race in this year (for me). Now I have few days of rest before next race in Italy. Greetings and thanks for the support! |

Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 1 (TTT)
Team Roster & Startlist:
Race results:
Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 2
Double for Adria Mobil! Bole won ahead Gnezda, Neyens was third. I was feeling bad at that stage, at least I kept yellow jersey.
Race results:
Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 3
This time Neyens showed his power! He won the stage and took the leader's jersey.
Race results:
Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 4
Moletta won after solo breakaway, he came ahead small group with GC contenders, include me. I saved my second place in GC and I won first intermediate sprint!
Race results:
Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 5
Patrick decided to attack at beginning of the stage - it was great decision, he won intermediate sprint and first KoM bonus. Unfortunately the second climb was too steep for him
Stage for Niemiec (Miche), who overtaken Masciarelli and Bakelants after chase at the last kilometers. Rubiano became new leader of the race.
Race results:
Settimana Ciclista Lombarda - Stage 6
The leader - Rubiano - seal a victory in the race by great stage win. Gretsch again had great performance, he was 9th.
Race results:
Paris - Roubaix
This race will be great chance to gain experience and ride with WT riders, altough I'm not northern classics specialist.
Team Roster & Startlist:
While the cobbles had begun, Vogondy was leading the race. He was catched by peloton shortly after second cobbles section.
Rabo riders dictated slow pace in peloton, but...
...105 km before finish it has been formed group with 22 riders, who were favourites to win the race (include Boonen, Cancellara, Chavanel, Van Avermaet, Quinziato, Devolder, Hoste, Flecha, Cancellara, Maaskant, Arvesen, Terpstra and O'Grady).
After turning up the pace by Quick Step, 60 km before finish the leading group consisted of only 9 riders.
Hoste attacked 39 km before the finish! Unfortunately he was chased by Cancellara and Flecha, who.....
...24,5 km before finish decided to counter!
Hoste tried to keep the Flecha's pace, but he had not much energy to do that. Boonen, Chavanel and Devolder were riding in the second group.
9 km before finish line in Roubaix Flecha decided to attack again. 5 km before finish he had 50 seconds of advantage ahead second group and he was about to win the race.
Yes! He won it! Great performance by Spanish rider! Second place for Boonen, and third for Hoste. Only 51 (!!) riders reached the finish line within the time limit.
Race results:
Summary:
I'm getting ready for the most important races (for me, of course) in May, but I'll have some chances to win something before - now I'm waiting for classic races in France and Italy. Greetings and thanks for the support! |

A good effort from the team in Lombardia, they got off to a great start but just fell back in the hills. Also nice to see John getting some experience in big races at Paris-Roubaix even if he wasn't good enough to really challenge for a top finish.
