I'm sorry, but that is not good enough for a UCI World Tour race |

I assume that the sun is shining and there are no mountains around
Seriously though, there's more to a race than history. If the organisation is on 2.1 level at most, the race deserves to be 2.1 at most.

This is farcical As i said upgrade ATOC to WT. At the end of the day it's called WORLD TOUR but only 3 races are outside Europe (TDU, Quebec, Montreal). ATOC would be a great fit, it's a great race of course the american teams won't get in as much as they used to do but I think there's much more to gain with WT upgrade. |

ATOC will never be WT. It serves as many US conti team's primary goal for the year + is great for their younger riders to get some 'big race' experience. Promoting to WT will make it near impossible for most of these teams to compete as they'll be vying for just a handful of wildcard places.

How is it even possible that we are not having pictures from a WT race in 2015? |

Wow, I thought yesterday was sub-par. I agree, this is nowhere near good enough, especially not for the WT.
If the Vuelta can have coverage from the rainy/misty slopes of the Angliru, or that freezing, cold, rainy stage in the Pyrenees won by Ratto, and the Giro can have mostly live coverage from that snowy, high mountain stage won by Quintana, then why can't Catalunya have ANY coverage of a slightly hilly stage with a bit of rain (maybe)?
With that said, ToC is not WT material either, even if it has world class coverage. Stop trying to hype it up more than it deserves.
The whole point was that Catalunya shouldn't be WT if they can't put together their media coverage better than this, not that ToC should become WT just because they have a great coverage and are not in Europe. It has little history and both the racing and the stage profiles of the last few editions are not good enough for a WT-class race, in my opinion. It's a big race, like several others around the world, but not as big as some try to hype it up to be. Just last year, there was a big push for ToC to take over the Giro's place as the second most prestigious stage-race of the season within a couple of years, which is just delusional.
Besides, as others have pointed out, the North American teams are probably better off as it is right now, and many of the WT teams already choose to participate for economic and marketing reasons. So, I don't really see this desperate need to promote it to WT. There are plenty of good races both in and out of Europe that aren't WT.

De Greef solo by 10 mins. 2nd place finish by Mezgec, celebrating because he thinks hes won. Nobody will know de Greef is gone. #StealthMode |

Eurosport, the home of occasional live camera wiping! Well not really Eurosport's fault since they aren't the host broadcaster, but I couldn't resist when the few live images I got consisted of camera wiping.

Because the production of the event comes from TV3, the regional TV of Catalonia, and this is the second or third year they are doing it. It's clear they don't know how to do it. They don't have the means, the know-how and they lack a complete respect for cycling.
La Volta will disapear sooner than later. They don't have money and right now they have their spot in WT because the history, the first one was on 1911 (95 editions so far).
And this without talking about the abhorrent rutes they "improve" year after year.
It's really sad for me...
