I'm yet again disappointed by the AI. It really sucks that my rivals in the fight for the rankings score almost as good as my team or even better in a race that should be suited to Siam Cement after they already did good in their races. At the moment it looks like I won't be able to fulfill my top 10 rankings goal.. At least Peilun Wu could keep his two jerseys for another day.
I hope in stage 5 it finally comes to a big showdown between the top climbers present. |

Great another stage win goes to our top ten rivals and on top of that they also get some jersey points. Great

I'd join the complaints about watching rivals in the top 10 getting points for the stage win, but I'll still take the leader's jersey, in what looked like a fantastic job by my team to control the race. Rodriguez was alert, and went with the dangerous attacks while Ardila stayed with the bunch and then took control once again when needed.
While it doesn't mean too much finishing 8th, I do like seeing that Jackson does lead the peloton over the line, makes a bit of a statement when it seems none are able to beat the jersey to the line.

If anyone has any doubts about whether the fighter stat functions or not then just look at Txurruka's season: it doesn't!
Godoy still right up there in GC. Next stage is the decisive one, no way of telling how it will go to be fair. |

Godoy. He has left it late to alight the races this season, but what a show of resilience to hang in there, did just about everything right there and hangs on.
Second in GC, he should hold that, especially if the final stage counts as hilly as stated and looks like it should in the preview. That final stage could be a bonanza for us (Txurruka could move up, we might move up in the team classification) - hoping for a podium on the final stage for Godoy to attest his hill prowess.
The ideal response to the ToA.
Elsewhere:
-- Siam Cement look set for a big haul here, bossing the KOM comp with panache.
-- Euskaltel, surprising me, look to take another big points haul and might be fourth after this race is done. |

YES!
So amazing. Looks like this race will be a big success in the end.
I especially like this:
1 | Peilun Wu | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 0 | 30 | 2 | Mustafa Sayar | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 24 | 30 | 3 | Vitor Rodrigues | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 16 | 28 |
Allthough it costs me one ranking point that Wu and Sayar have the same amount of KoM points. I don't expect to keep the Polka jersey though with a lot of KoM points available on the last stage and the fact we won't join the break with Rodrigues in yellow. Great to see Peilun Wu keep the white jersey even though he dropped 12 places in the GC.
With a little luck on the last stage Rodrigues will be able to snatch the green jersey away from Rodriguez on the last stage. Only 4 points now to make up on Sauber and we already climbed a spot in the rankings.

Are you kidding me. You get yet again another Stage Race GC podium (probably) through a successful break and you complain about it being dissapointing. If there is one that shouldn't complain it's you, getting a ranking top 5 with a crappy team. |

Another so-and-so effort from CAS. Was happy when I saw Taciak go in the break and equally annoyed when reading that my own team worked on reeling in the break. Breakaway succes just isn't meant to be for Live Nation...

Well finally looks like Zurita has woken up after a remarkably inactive season - a great result from him here today and also good to see Orozco throwing everything into his attacks even if they eventually proved futile. Hopefully Zurita won't lose time on the hilly stage and we might end up with a half-decent GC result, but this is the ManGame so I'm not confident at all about it.

Holy Crap, I wasn't expecting to really have issues on this stage, not entirely sure what happened but Jackson was a complete waste in this stage. Went from being in a great spot to take the GC, to well off the podium way too quickly.

(Thought I'd already responded to stages 4 and 5, obviously not - out of body experience?).
Stage 4 was again positive, with both Beltran, then crucially Ochoa Quintero showing aggression. Good time gain by Richard, but surprising that he never recovered from bridging across to challenge for the stage (given by far the strongest rider then present).
This minute in hand over many rivals was doubly welcome when Queen stage 5 panned out fairly mediocre for Nutresa (brilliant tv coverage though!). Ochoa Quintero protected his GC placing, but really should have been a group or two further up the road at the finish. Masuda protects a place in the top 20. Hoping for Beltran or Valencia in the break on the final hilly stage.
Overall, Nutresa management are very pleased with the aggressive racing being demonstrated by the team in our home race, showing the jersey to our fans and demonstrating our passion to get stuck in.
Rodrigues has been pretty dominant, was going to say surprisingly so (given some similar competition present), but has happened before this season already. Current GC looks like a lot of promotion battles are fairly even, so will remain tight going into the last couple of races of the season.

I can't believe it, with TTT, Azteca and Siam doing well only Sauber did really not score any points in this race so far, and look at that. What a performance, stage win, team's and KoM in one stage, amazing stuff.
Strong win by Siam, should be an interesting rankings update coming up.

Sauber really were all over that stage, impressive way to fight back from an expect rankings loss. Lots of the Top 10 in high GC positions though.
Pretty emphatic win in the end for Rodrigues, after a bit of dodgy AI through the race. As a former rider of mine I don't mind Iglinski going well, even if the team is inactive. I suspect Siam don't mind it either, as it takes away ranking points from the rest.

Thanks for whole race SN, mostly tsmoha and Selwink.
Where to begin:
- Well we achieve our first ever Man Game goal (top 5). Phenomenal from Godoy considering none of the stages, as it turned out, favoured the puncheurs. A real shame we just missed out on the second place to an inactive but third is well above what we were after.
- This more than overshadows Txurruka who continues to miss out, sadly he is probably the flop of the continental season.
- Only negative for us is that the hilly stages mainly favoured the pure climbers (less than 70 hill) and not the puncheurs, if this race stays on the calendar the profiles might want to be changed as you can't have so many pure climbers deciding GCs, in my opinion.
Rankings update after that will be interesting. |

Thanks for another set of great reports.
For the racing it was good to see some activity from the team towards the end rewarded with two stage top 10's and a GC 10th in the end.
All in all a deserved win for Rodrigues - happy that the AI didn't ruin the GC that much.

I second Alakagom in that I am really looking forward to the next update (if there will be one), TomTom might have had a really nice race and still lose 3 positions!
It is as if the teams on the verge of promoting somehow sensed they have to overperform here.

That was a brilliant performance from the boys today, they absolutely smashed it, I just wish they could have rode like that more often this season as they got the tactics spot on.
Rusli managed to steal the KOM Jersey on the final day which is a brilliant result for us, Alizadeh was putting in plenty of attacks and bridged across and was looking really strong today, then Saggiorato was able to sit in the bunch and let himself get pulled up the mountain due to having 2 guys ahead of him on the road, before being super fresh and launching a killer sprint at the end to take out the stage win.
Only finishing 11th and 13th on GC after a performance like the one today is disappointing but then I doubt they would have had the freedom to do that if they were higher up or more of a threat GC wise. I just hope they can carry this form through into Utah now.
Hopefully that has dented the points deficit it looked like we were going to have from this race and left us a manageable task for the remaining 2 races.
