Phinney smashing it as usual.
Decent from Boasson Hagen, had hoped the hill at the end would play even more into his favour, but 13th in a long TT can only be good from him. He definitely needs a great day on the Queen stage to get a top 10 overall, but a top 15 will also be good. I can only hope AI makes him try, and not just follow the grupetto. |

Boys did well. Two in Top-10 is fair enough, even though both lost too much time on that hilly stage(s). Don't think Bobridge will hold on to this 16th in GC, but maybe Bennett tries something on next day.
Great speed with the reports! Very well done.

This has been a complete and utter waste of time for my riders... 3 sprinterstages, not one with a decent outcome. Guerao hasn't been in top 15 once, despite having a massive train for him.
Lecuisinier in 20th GC is a great result, and if I'm very very lucky, he will be able to stay somewhere around that spot after the next stage. He might be able to overtake Ginanni, Bobridge and Gilbert, while Suaza should probably overtake him. So in the ideal world he will have a GC spot of 18th after the 7th stage, but 20th will be easily satisfying.

Monsalve loosing a lot of time in the TT, luckily both his climbing and TT will be better next season. Anyway, will be interesting to see him in the mountain stage now

Strong performance by Dave Z who looks ready to take the world by storm once again.
Rolland showed up for the first time this year so that's promising for the Tour where Sicard will rely heavily on him.

We might stop this race now I think. Best of the rest.
Really like how nicely Keizer riding here. Expected it to suit him a lot . So without all the Giro climbers this is proving well so far.
Thanks for the reports. Nice to read. |

Good TT result for Schleck, especially to stay ahead of Roche in GC. My target of a Top 5 result remains in reach. Could be an interesting battle between the likes of Keizer, Schleck, Roche and Keinath.

Looks like Roche paid for his useless effort during flat stages. As mentioned, it could be interesting battle between "the rest" on MT.Diablo, while seeing Phinney & Gesink already on first places is not surprise.

Good ride by Keizer. 4th looks okay here.
Disappointing by Olivier 11min down. S instead top40 it`s far off now. Even behind Bongiorno, who lost a lot before.
Now a last stage for the sprinters please with Nizzolo going strong. Otherwise breakaway please. |

Well, I called it
It's a shame Castroviejo or Ruijgh didn't have a better race and this resulted in us losing the teams classification.
Great reports!

Very, very good from Boasson Hagen! Thought he would need the yellow jersey to do something like that on the mountain stage, but clearly not. Coming away from California with 5th place overall will be great, just hope we'll see no crashes or punctures on the final stage.
Thanks for another report, Sykkel_Freak, and congratulations to dave92, Phinney is bossing his home race just as expected. |

Nice to see Bobridge defending his GC-spot. Not the most entertaining stage though, but at least it did favor our riders

Lecuisinier defended his 20th place. He did slightly worse than anticipated on the stage, but it didn't cost, luckily...
Now to hope he doesn't fuck up on the last stage. Hoping for a stagewin from Guerao isn't worth the time.

This race has been a compete non event for sprinters, I have to be happy with another rider in the breakaway. Margaliot is a nuggetty rider I should probably used more of this year - just crap enough at this level to be considered a breakaway rider for the flat stages.
Had a couple of guys move up a bit on gc after that messy windy last stage seeking out possibly a few more points in a race where I had next to no expectations.

Another fine display by Bystrøm, which is great to see. For the overall result, I'm very happy. Our season up to the Giro/California hasn't been anything to speak about, but this result is truly great, and it gives us some much needed points.
Thanks for the reports, Sykkel_Freak! |

A pity we didn't see a single "true" bunch sprint here. It ain't Gossy's season yet. 15th and 21st in GC plus a stage-win though.. Nice stuff
Feel sorry for our Festina-friends. A crash on final day is just crap.

I feel seriously sorry...
A shame for the close miss of the podium, but Keizer in 4th is certainly exactly what Rothaus needed. Up front, I wasn't completely wrong that Gesink could remain close to Phinney, but he never looked like the outcome was wide open.
Finally regarding my (ex-)riders, Bongiorno didn't really do anything here, and I am obviously not happy my two main promotion men from 2012 in Bennati and Croket never had a chance to show what they used to show for me.
Plus now that Bennati could, surely there's a break ahead...
Thanks Sykkel once more for the quick and good reporting even though I didn't actually race here (which makes this recap kinda long ).

Very happy with Keizer finishing in 4th GC. This will be very important points for me. (@cio: Close but best behind the top3 is fine)
His points per race day ratio should be pretty well now with only this race and the ITT early season.
He should try to keep this trend as his points are much needed in the relegation fight and in especially as I can`t really hope for big points in all 3 GT`s even though he himself might prove me wrong.
Nizzolo with bad luck in those breakaway flat stages but he will get his chances. At least next year when being maxed and a 80 sprinter.
Olivier with 2 breakaway top10`s which is nice to see. Unfortunately he had a weak mountain stage which avoided him a top30-40 finish here.
Thanks for the reports. Very fast and nice to read.

Seriously. I'm on the edge of breaking something expensive at my place. This is just not OK. Fucking crap game.
