Luxembourg NC
The profile of this year edition was good for me as well as for the Schlecks. I hoped that I could ride on their level and fight with them for the title of national champion. Also it was just battle between Leopard and Trek Factory, because other riders were mostly alone in the peloton.
After my great performances during June I wanted to end this month with another victory. My team-mates were working from the first km on the front and they didn't let anyone go to the break.
At 30km mark Frank Schleck attacked and I was the only one who followed him, probably Andy didn't have legs good enought...
As we were going together I could see that Frank is riding very easy and he prove that with his another attack about 15km to go...
It was the strong one and I realised that I have no chance today against him, but I didn't resign and tried hard to get back to him.
But he hold his small advantage until the finish and he could celebrate his victory as I came 2nd and totally exhausted!
1 | Fränk Schleck | Trek Factory Racing | 4h54'19 | 2 | Mario Rizzi | Leopard Development Team | s.t. | 3 | Andy Schleck | Trek Factory Racing | + 13'25 | 4 | Ben Gastauer | Ag2r - La Mondiale | + 14'21 | 5 | Jempy Drucker | Wanty - Groupe Gobert | + 16'25 |
I hate that PCM bug, when we went alone, riders behind us stopped working and just go easy...
Luca Guercilena came to Luxembourg NC to discuss with me my program as stagiare at Trek! He told me earlier that I will start right in August, but know he showed me my full schedule... I was very surprised how good races I will ride!
The full schedule:
Date | Race | Country | Category | 3/8-9/8 | Tour de Pologne | Poland | UWT | 18/8-24/8 | USA Pro Cycling Challenge | USA | 2.HC | 12/9 | GP Cycliste de Quebec | Canada | UWT | 14/9 | GP Cycliste de Montreal | Canada | UWT | 5/10 | Il Lombardia | Italy | UWT |
I have been also talking with NT coach and he told me that I will be in pre-selection of 5 riders for WC Road Race!
NT Pre-selection
Fränk Schleck | Mario Rizzi | Bob Jungels | Ben Gastauer | Laurent Didier |
Thank you Andy for everything!

Well done I thought it was very disappointing you didn't win but look on the bright side because you have been chosen for a: the world champs team and b: five big events with Trek factory racing |

@plym: thanks, Mario is looking forward to the second half of the season, but now he has Czech Cycling Tour on the plan as his last race for Leopard team, before the first action as Trek rider.
Thank you Andy for everything!

Czech Cycling Tour Czech Cycling Tour was my last race as Leopard Development Team rider this season! As the race offered ITT on 24km and then 3 flat stages our leader was an excellent time-trialist and NC in ITT Alex Kirsch!
Before the race Alex had been considered as one of the biggest favourites on winning this stage and he proved that since the first intermediate.
When he came to the finish nobody could thing about beating him!
I took the time-trial in easy way, because when I had started I already knew that Alex made great ride.
Stage Results/Overall Rankings 1 | Alex Kirsch | Leopard Development Team | 33'53 | 2 | Alvaro Cuadros | Etixx | + 54 | 3 | Reidar Borgersen | Team Joker | + 1'01 | 4 | Bjørn Hoem | Team Sparebanken Sør | + 1'03 | 5 | Tom Dernies | Wallonie - Bruxelles | s.t. | ... | 42 | Mario Rizzi | Leopard Development Team | + 1'37 |
So after the Stage 1 Alex was sitting with more than decent advantage in the front and our goal for the next stages was clear - keep his yellow jersey until the finish!
Thank you Andy for everything!

Czech Cycling Tour
As Alex Kirsch was going to the stage in leader's jersey I wanted to show the team that I can work for my team-mates and also I wanted to pay back all the help which I needed during the season.
Our team controlled the pace in the pack and we didn't give breakaway riders any chance for victory and they were caught about 20km to go. And we brought Alex successfully to the finish.
The stage victory went to the hands of Travis McCabe (Team SmartStop). Nothing really changed in GC...
Stage Results 1 | Travis McCabe | Team SmartStop | 3h44'19 | 2 | Luca Benedetti | Amore & Vita | s.t. | 3 | Mathieu van der Poel | BKCP - Powerplus | s.t. | 4 | Max Walscheid | Team Stölting | s.t. | 5 | Eric Young | Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies | s.t. |
Again I did a big amount of job for Alex, from controlling the pace to bringing him some water and energy gels. Maybe I'm not normal, but I enjoyed this kind of job in the peleton!
Once again the stage ended with a mass sprint finish and my team-mate Dennis Coenen came for the 2nd place.
Stage Results 1 | Phil Bauhaus | Team Stölting | 3h51'22 | 2 | Dennis Coenen | Leopard Development Team | s.t. | 3 | Mathieu van der Poel | BKCP - Powerplus | s.t. | 4 | Evaldas Siskevicius | La Pomme Marseille | s.t. | 5 | Travis McCabe | Team SmartStop | s.t. |
The last stage was ahead of us and we were quiet sure that Alex would keep the overall victory here. Just some unlucky accident could cause him it.
We were really aware of it, so we kept ourselves near to the front and finally we arrived to the finishing line in Olomouc!
Stage Results
So that's it! That's how I'm ending my journey in Leopard Development Team and now it's time to move and to wear the new jersey at the rest of the season! I'm curious about this new challenge in my career starting on Polish roads in August!
