I'm really not a big fan of Bertie, but this is great news. It's amazing that we will be able to watch almost all the best climbers competing against each other at the same race!

Betancur finished 85 or something yesterday. I just saw a picture of him on twitter and he didnt look like someone who have trained hard for 2 months in order to be ready for the Vuelta. I dont really know what is up with him, but I just dont hope his career will take the turn that Andy's took.
I really hope for him he will find a new team which he will be comfortable in and get rid of his problems, because he is one of the biggest talents in this sport. I dont expect too much of him this year

Sad to see Betancur in that shape, well who expected differently. Really an amazing rider when he is in shape. Gonna be an interesting Vuelta this year.
Anyone who know whether Geraint Thomas will be in the Vuelta or not?
Present:
Tinkoff-Saxo - AG2R - Colombian riders
Past:
Francisco Mancebo - Illes balears - Carlos Sastre - Kelme - Robbie McEwen

I dunno about this. I think it's stupid to go back to racing now. He could risk a lot if he falls again |

Why even race? Each race there is a chance of you breaking bones, getting injured or even dying......
If someone is afraid of crashing, when they race, they should immediately change business.

He's already recovering from a pretty bad injury, so if he were even just to have a minor bump in a crash that would otherwise just be a bit sore for a bit and that would be it, it could aggravate the injury from which he is trying to recover, which could spell long-term disaster. The risk is greater than usual in this situation.

Of course he risks something IF the injury is as bad as many believe. I think he is pretty fine and may try to go for GC, even though he says that he will go for stage wins.
Anyway, he will be in the race and we will hopefully watch great racing!

That is not how it works man. If bones were like that we wouldnt be able to race again 30 years after a crash. It is either healed or it is not and if you are afraid you need to pick a new sport.
The same can be said for every other injury as well. |

same here..racing full gas Vuelta is always kind of threat for your next season. After that crash and injury?
Is it Oleg behind it..who has no riders left to ride succesful Vuelta. |

Well, for you, everything is fault of Oleg as i see it. Shamefuly for you, he will have the best cycling team in 2015,already looking forward to your hate.
I would rather see the will of Contador to ride his home race and at least one GT behind it. We are not doctors, if it was so risky, he would not do it.

I cant recall where I read it, but Oleg Tinkov wants to win team ranking in UCI world tour and its therefore essential that someone wins/places high in Vuelta.
Their other good riders like Roche, Majka, Rogers have done 2 GT and Krueziger is unlikely to get permission from UCI to ride. And with Contador out it would have been bad for team as they did not have anyone for GC nor stars who would get stage wins or not even any good sprinters.
This is 11 riders they have announced- SORENSEN brothers, ZAUGG, TOSATTO, SUTHERLAND, PETROV, HERNANDEZ, PAULINHO, BRESCHEL, CONTADOR, VALGREN and BENNATI
Among long list of riders TCS have announced other than Contador no one else is likely to win or get close to top 5 or win stages. Normally Majka would have been their man for Vuelta but problem with Krueziger have put them in difficulty. |
