The Pla d'Adet is double points so you get better points if you finish top 3 there than winning all 3 cat 1. So I think Majka is playing it smart like on Risoul and aiming to get to the finish before the Shark arrives...
He still misses out on ton of points. Dont think its race tactic but that he just doesnt have the legs. Alao, this breakaway is a powerhouse - superior riders in that break

With Kwiatowski gone, Zubeldia is in top 10. But all depends on Rollands, F.Schleck, Mollema are in breakaway. |

The group with Schleck, Vandenbroeck and Mollema is going nowhere. |

That break should be a steamengine but its merely a bit of hiccup

It can work though, like in Dauphine.
Guess VDB, Mollema and Schleck are not the type of riders needed for taking such big risks and showing this kind of daring race initiative.

And its not upto Astana to chase these break(VDB, Mollema, Rollands, Schleck). As Nibali has over 10 mins advantage over these guys. He can comfortably give away 5-7 mins. All depends on FDJ and AG2R.
Also looks like Movistar will not chase. As they have 3 people in break. What will happen if someone in break is threatening Valverde's 2nd place. |
