That's a really cool image, and I've been enjoying the retrospective articles. Good luck for the new season (except for in the occasional [c1] race where we pitch up! ).

Nice to see one of my images there.
Was really a nice shot even though I think you were outsprinted in the end? |

Thanks, Scorchio! Glad you are enjoying the articles and of course good luck to you, too! Even in the races where we might meet us face-to-face

Forgot to give the credits to you Yes, outsprinted! Kaschechkin took the line honours with Peraud missing out on the win quite close. Jiao fell a few seconds behind. Still a nice stage for Oz

The transfer season is soon to be started and so it's finally time to reveal The Oz Cycling's renewals results. As already been rumoured, we now can confirm that Michael Rogers and Alex Rasmussen will leave the team off free agency: both asked for too much money. With our team focussing on upgrading other terrains than timetrials, we didn't feel Rogers would need to be on the roster for a high wage. We may be after him in the transfers though.
Oz's premium professional Jack Bobridge did receive a huge upgrade on this wage, something we ain't too happy about. But we're sure he will be worth this money. Our veterans Giovanni Visconti and Matthew Lloyd extened their contracts as well, but both may be up for grabs with only good offers being made though.
As said before, George Bennett's future with The Oz ain't garantueed, same goes for some other manager's favorites. Bennett though is certainly the biggest name facing an interesting transfers period.

Team Festina is looking to strengthen their TTT setup, and should be immensely keen on signing Luke Durbridge on a one year loan deal and looks to stretch out their hand to a team they have previously had some nice deals with, concerning riders such as Wen Hao Li and Damion Drapac.

@SotD: We certainly did not forget the previous deals between Festina and Oz, so we will keep your interest in mind! In the end, both Durbridge and Li just need the right deal to max out.
@Mig: As said before, we fancy the opportunity for Besada to join a team like your's!

Simply red bull senses competition between ourselves and Festina over the services of Luke durbridge. Likewise we would be more than happy to bring in wen Hao li of course we would wish to discuss things further when transfer season starts.

@Cycleman: Yes. But he's still on our list of possible targets
@Smowzy: I may repeat myself, but of course we really appreciate the good relationship between Oz and SRB! Bobridge did enjoy his stint at your team so much that he felt like asking for a huge wage would be a good thing On a more serious note, we like what you did with Bennett and also Durbridge may ask for returning to good ol' Smowzy. We will most probably in talks soon

First riders join The Oz - first big news to be announced soon
Like every year, The Oz tried to grab at least one or two managers' "personal favorites" off the free agent market. And like last year (with Mongolian fighter Delgerbayar), we are happy to announce Alex Wohler as one of our first signings!
Wohler, 22 years old Australian, might not be the biggest talent ever seen, but the management loves his potential (77 Flat, 76 TT, 85 Fight) and will definitely do it's best to develop him - first step: loan to Privatbank - Nemiroff (PCT), where he will (hopefully) race a couple of C2-races.
The Oz also signed Chinese Zhihui Jiang (future 77 Sprint, 78 Prologue) and Aussie Jack Anderson (74 TT). While Jiang will spend his first pro season in the CT (Siam Cement - Lenovo), Anderson may be play his main strength in some TTs for the Oz this year.
It's been some busy days in terms of loan deals and transfers, we will keep you updated with the most notable moves (like Lloyd leaving our team) in the next couple of days!
Rider (Age) | Key stats | Potential | Alex Wohler (22) | 70 FL, 80 FI | 77 FL, 76 TT | Zhihui Jiang (20) | 68 SP, 71 PRL | 77 SP, 78 PRL | Jack Anderson (27) | 74 TT |
Alex Wohler comes off the Australian domestic cycling scene and will be loaned out immediately..
Joining The Oz from the same team (Budget) like Wohler, Anderson may strengthen the team in possible TTTs..

Goss joins Oz - Giacoppo added to sprint train
The Oz Cycling Project is proud to announce our first "big fish" in the transfer season 2014: premium sprinter Matthew Goss joined the team in a blockbuster deal worth 1,8million euros plus our loanees Durbridge and Li! Even though he will be one of several top sprinters in the PCT this year, we're still confident for him to score us good points.
The 28 years old Aussie comes off an impressive title-campaign with US based PT-team Wikipedia, where he was one of the keys (56th in the Individual Rankings) to make the team winning the PT-crown in style. The Oz is happy to see our future TT-specialists Durbridge and Li racing for such a strong team next season.
Our next transfer deal saw Anthony Giacoppo joining The Oz in order to be a main part of Gossy's sprint train (wherever he "needs" one). The sprinter, who joined the ManGame last year (riding for Risa-Ergon), used to be a well-known and quite succesful rider in Australia's domestic cycling scene and we're happy to have him on board now.
Rider (Age) | Key stats | Wage | Matthew Goss (28) | 82 SP, 81 REC, 74 FL | 245,000€ | Anthony Giacoppo (28) | 77 SP, 75 ACC | 80,000€ |
After already been targeted last season, Gossy finally joined the team, where he belongs to!
Giacoppo has the skills to be the final leadout for Goss.. and may even get a chance to go for stages on his own..

@Alak: Thanks! Too many guys to battle in sprints to count them here But I'm still happy with this move, I seriously lacked useful sprinters in my first two years (no offense, Cooke and Drapac)
Rogers' back - O'Brien adds depth
Even though Michael Rogers did leave The Oz prior to the transfer period in order to test free agency (and because of The Oz to test his "real" value), the veteran is very welcome back on our team! The former TT world champion signed for half of last year's wage and will aim for a maybe final season on high level.
Michael had some problems in his first season with the team last year, but eventually saved our year by taking out the Herald Sun Tour, where The Oz scored big time to jump out of the relegation battle. Those achievement will never be forgotten, so if you feel like doing similar things again, Michael: just do it.
With more riders leaving than joining The Oz, we are quite happy to at least announce another signing off free agency: Mark O'Brien won't be the "big deal", but he adds some depth (where our team lacks depth) - solid allround stats may see him going for some breakaway success wherever possible.
Rider (Age) | Key stats | Wage | Michael Rogers (35) | 81 TT, 72 MO | 220,000€ | Mark O'Brien (27) | 73 MO, 72 HI, 72 REC | 50,000€ |
Rogers is back on Oz's roster after testing free agency.. welcome home!
O'Brien (former Budget-rider like Wohler and Anderson) will add some depth..

Yeah, definitely surprised to see no CT-team go after him.. especially as some other guys without much better stats go/went for much more money.. he won't be a key to anything here, but I'm glad he went for the minimum wage
@roturn: Thanks! Definitely happy with both being on our team this season.
