Wasn't he a bit worse on the climbs, though?
I'm asking because most of his career was before I started watching cycling. I know that he has done well in races like the worlds and Amstel, but I haven't seen him following top climbers on f.e. the wall in Chieti, like Sagan.
Regular LBL and Flèche contender, regular top 50 in Grand Tour mountain stages, Tirreno-Adriatico overall winner...

Did not know that. Must've overlooked his Flèche and LBL results when looking through CQ ranking before.

The Tirreno he won wasn't really hard though. Petacchi got second if I'm not mistaken. There were 't any timetrials or mountains

Thomas suffers a broken pelvis, in case you didn't know.
It's just a small fracture, but sure must hurt a lot when sitting on a bike. |

Tirreno was in that time more or less a sprinters/puncheurs race before 2006.
But there were hills so thats why Freire managed to edge Petacchi 2005 because Freire was so much better there than Petacchi.
Plus there was sometimes a TT for example when T. Dekker won it 2006 (ok there was also a mountain stage 2006)

Garmin for me but time gaps are going to be so small that one rider on a bad day or any mistake will likely be crucial.
Interesting bit of info from ITV's Tour coverage where Boardman talks about the beneficial effects of having a team mate behind you when riding as it decreases drag a small amount. In my ignorance I had no idea that even the guys desperately sitting on are helping a little.

I have money on either BMC or Orica to win this, both at 15:1 odds. I do think it will be Garmin who win it but I couldn't turn down those odds.

Anyone has any idea what the numbers next to the cities names mean? Today for instance on the bottom left corner of the screen they wrote Nice(06). What does the (06) mean? |

That is the French sub-region number where Nice is arrondissement 6.

14'14" for Argos at first check. I can't imagine more than about 30" being lost except for teams like Sojasun or Euskaltel.

Did he get dropped already? He was in the stage 1 crash
Also, people watching the teams doing recon said Contador was riding in a screwed up position to avoid injury pain and even then was suffering considerably

No surprise that he's dropped, he's probably one of the worst riders in the entire WT and he is in the team only because Cannondale wants American riders. |

Minus 28 seconds for Argos at the split according to the live timing.
They're clearly gone all-out in embracing Sky's tactic of negative splits

And right after I say that OPQS go through almost a minute faster at the half way point. Martin clearly feeling much, much better. But they did look quite stretched.
