Tour of Oman - Stage 6
Today, is meant to be for the sprinters, but I think the 3 hills in the final 12km will be too much for them. This means Thomas and myself will have to be on full attention in order not to lose any possible places. Other than that, it will be nice for the team to finish with a Top 10 place.
And we'll start the report off, with an attack by myself. The hills were too much for most of the sprinters, and I was only following a few of the favourites. Voeckler had told me on the radio that he was stuck at the back of the peloton, so I followed the group in hopes that I could bring myself into the Top 10, if this group of attackers were going to make it. I grabbed the bonus seconds at the points sprint as well!
After 2 of the 3 laps on the finishing circuit, with the hill still to climb once more, I was brought back by a group of 11, including, Coquard, Charteau and Quemeneur. We hit the downhill very fast, and soon were on our way to the finish. Voeckler was sitting in the peloton, almost a minute down, but only 2 riders from the Top 10 were here, while 2 from places 11-14 were here, so his Top 10 was in danger.
The sprint begins and Ciolek and Coquard look like the 2 that will be battling for this one. Bardet is also putting in a good effort but surely he wont beat two strong sprinters.
And thats when it happened. I didn't need to hear the jubilation on my radio in my ear, because I could see Bryan cross the line first just ahead of me, a really good performance from him, and surely the highlight from the Tour now, Top 10 or not. Even better was that all 4 of us in the breakaway finished in the Top 10 on the day, while the peloton came home almost half a minute down with Voeckler still stick near the back.

Sorry for the wait guys!
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Today is going to be a tough day! Boonen, Burghardt, Cancellara and Chavanel are here, just to name a few of the top riders for the classics! Im going to support Turgot, who we hope can get a good placing here, in the lead up to the big classics like Paris Roubaix. The small hills, actual give me a decent shot of sticking to the lead group until the front, because some of the stronger riders, aren't as great on the hills. It will be a tough day for sure!
The day starts off with a breakaway who would stay clear for the better portion of the day. Unfortunately for them, their catch was inevitable with this being such an important one day classic and the peloton chasing so hard in the 2nd half of the race.
And with that chasing came a split, with a lead group of 30 riders, including Turgot, as well as Boonen, Roelandts and Vanmarcke.
I sat in the 2nd group on the road, which had Fabian Cancellara and Marcus Burghardt, both who would have liked to be in the first group, but they were chasing in hopes of bringing things back together.
It becomes too late for the chasing group, as the front group sprints for the line now! Its really a mass sprint, no one looks like they are going to dominate the sprint just yet. Its anyones to win!
And with a great turn of power, its Van Avermaet who takes the sprint, and being one of the better sprinters in the group, its not a surprise to see him do well! Boonen takes 2nd and Turgot grabs a terrific 3rd place for the team. I finished in 39th, an alright result as well!
*Excel wouldn't read the exported results for some reason
