Round 4: History - Evaluation
This round has, as expected, been the round with the least points given and the most diverse answers. Yet, double-digit points were possible for some answers. Maybe see it as a compensation for the excessive animal round
Question 1: Name a war except one of the two World Wars.
The Vietnam War (10) prevailed over the Cold War (7) and the Gulf War (5).
Spoiler 2x American Civil War
2x American Revolution
1x Afghanistan War
1x Napoleonic War
1x Battle of Hastings
1x Korean War
1x Eighty Years' War
1x Thirty Years' War
1x Hundred Years' War
Question 2: Name an important politician of the 20th century.
While the American Wars were the most prominent, the most important politician is British: Winston Churchill (10). He's followed by two men with completely contrary reputations: John F. Kennedy and Adolf Hitler both give you 7 points.
Spoiler 3x Bill Clinton
2x Franklin D. Roosevelt
1x Tony Blair
1x Nelson Mandela
1x Hilary Clinton
1x Ronald Reagan
Question 3: Name an important historic person that was not a politician.
The question with the least points, ergo with the most diverse answers. No one was mentioned more than five times. Top mentions were Albert Einstein (5) and Martin Luther King Jr. (4). TheManxMissile hoped for more love for the legends of cycling and named Eddy Merckx, but he was alone.
Spoiler 3x Isaac Newton
3x William Shakespeare
3x Leonardo Da Vinci
2x Neil Armstrong
2x Jesus
2x Thomas Edison
1x Martin Luther
1x Christopher Columbus
1x Michelangelo
1x Aristotle
1x Mahatma Gandhi
1x Benjamin Franklin
1x Desmond Tutu
1x Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Question 4: Name an ancient culture.
Two ancient culture were dominant here, firstly the Romans (12) and secondly the Mayans (9), who maybe still benefited from the Apocalyse hysteria of 2012.
Spoiler 4x Egyptians
4x Greek
1x Azetcs
1x Budism
1x Ancient Japan
1x Babylonians
Question 5: Name the event that has changed history of mankind the most.
Again very, very many diverse answers with only one that really gave some points: World War II (8). This time it was FreitasPCM who was hoping for the "Cycling" in PCM.Daily, and went for the Birth of Lance Armstrong. Predictably without much success
Spoiler 3x The Big Bang
2x Neolithic Revolution
2x Renaissance
2x Moon Landing
2x Discovery of Fire
2x 9/11
1x Invention of the Wheel
1x Invention of the Car
1x American Revolution
1x Cyanobacteria
1x Birth of Jesus
1x Birth of God
1x Evolution
1x Declaration of Independence
1x Invention of the Computer
1x Industrialisation
1x Rise and Fall of Rome
With not many points around, this leads to the unique situation of a triple round win:
1 | lokytrew | 39 | | cactus-jack | 39 | | Pellizotti2 | 39 | 4 | Bikex | 34 | 5 | Schleck96 | 33 | 6 | jsh312mufc | 31 | | SuperKid | 31 | 8 | fcancellara | 30 | | PCM rulezz | 30 | 10 | Eden95 | 29 |
The leading trio has five points of advance. Pellizotti2 could have scored a perfect round (and thus six points more) if he went for WWII instead of the neolithic revolution. Bikex is once again very consistent in his scoring and therefore maintains his overall lead:
1 | Bikex | 213 | 2 | jesleyh | 201 | 3 | Eden95 | 194 | 4 | lokytre | 193 | 5 | dienblad | 186 | 6 | usto | 175 | 7 | FroomeDog99 | 174 | 8 | ikaros33 | 172 | 9 | Gulvplanke | 165 | 10 | TheManxMissile | 164 |
Jesleyh is losing contact to Bikex just before the last round. The battles for third, sixth and nineth are still very, very close.
It will all be decided in the final, fifth round!

Tables aren't those of the previous round??
Well, better round that I expect...
Maybe because of the generally low scores |

Why am I over TMM in the standings and yet not in the top ten?

You've probably looked at the old standings of last round that I've mistakenly posted.

Round 5: Miscellaneous - Evaluation
I'm not too happy with how this round turned out to be. Mostly because there were two answers that stuck out, and anyone who didn't have these two automatically lost many points. Maybe I should have seen that coming. On the other hand, this was an opportunity for some of you to gain a couple of places. But have a look yourself:
Question 1: Name a school subject.
The first and biggest points supplier. Maybe a unique situation: Only two subjects were named at all. Maths (25) and English (4).
Question 2: Name a hip hop artist.
This one was a lot more balanced. The three top answers were Eminem (8), Tupac (7) and Jay Z (6).
Spoiler 2x Kanye West
2x 50 Cent
1x Snoop Dogg
1x Run DMC
1x Rihanna
1x -
Question 3: Name a museum.
The second question with one answer that stood out. The Louvre is evidently the most popular museum around here (20). No other house came even close.
Spoiler 4x Smithsonian
2x National History Museum
1x Eremitage
1x Guggenheim
1x Museum of Modern Art
Question 4: Name an internet browser.
Again a very balanced question with only three given answers at all. Chrome (12), Firefox (9) and Internet Explorer (8). No Opera, no Safari.
Question 5: Name an acadamy award winning movie.
I realized that this may have been a question with widespread answers but much to my content, every movie has been mentioned at least twice. In the end, it was a duel with Lord of the Rings winning over Titanic 8 to 7.
Spoiler 4x The Artist
2x The King's Speech
2x The Godfather
2x Avatar
2x Forrest Gump
2x Slumdog Millionaire
Eventually, only those who had both Maths and the Louvre had the chance to at all be somewhere in front. It's mvhoogdalem and Jesleyh who share the win, both being one point short of a perfect round. Congrats!
1 | mvhoogdalem | 72 | | Jesleyh | 72 | 3 | usto | 70 | 4 | Bikex | 69 | | Atlantius | 69 | 6 | Miguel98 | 67 | 7 | Eden95 | 66 | | Gulvplanke | 66 | 9 | sieve | 64 | | FreitasPCM | 64 |
Since Bikex, Jesleyh and Eden95 all scored very well, there are no changes in the overall Top 3. Thus, congratulations, Bikex, for winning the first game of the 2013 I'm with stupid!
The winner of this round though is usto, who overtakes lokytrew and the unfortunate dienblad, who loses his fifth overall by taking the Guggenheim and not the Louvre. Also, notice how close it is especially between the places 6 and 9, and that after five rounds!
1 | Bikex | 282 | 2 | Jesleyh | 273 | 3 | Eden95 | 260 | 4 | usto | 245 | 5 | lokytrew | 242 | 6 | ikaros33 | 235 | | FroomeDog99 | 235 | 8 | dienblad | 234 | 9 | Gulvplanke | 231 | 10 | cactus-jack | 216 |
Hence, the first game is over. By the rules, Bikex now has the right to be the game master for the next round if he wants to. Otherwise, we'd be looking for volunteers.
I hope you enjoyed the game and continue to participate
