Hey boss,
Just saw we got invited to the Tour Down Under, and when I looked at the route, I kinda like it. Would be nice if you had a spot on the team for me. I think we also talk about the rest of my season when you have a minute.
Thanks,
Rudy

WEEKLY UPDATE #4
Donkey Kong's back! He's succesfully retained his banana stock and is back to tell you a bit more about the weekly [fortnightly] goings on.
First of all, we can announce that our Weekly Update feature will expand considerably once the season has started. There will be a rider of the week award every week with 3 points going to the winner, 2 points to the runner-up; and 1 point going to the third place. At the end of the season these points will be added up to find the most valuable Nintendo-Ambuja cyclist of the season! And we will also tell you all our results here!
Secondly, there is some very sad news. At the end of the draft, both Steven Kruijswijk and Simon Spilak decided to leave the team, as they felt it wasn't quite the right place to be. You can read our announcement of when it happened for more details but I'm sure you know that we are really disappointed and that our chances of promotion this season have been severely hampered.
We also signed some Japanese cyclists to keep the locals happy since the last update, more on them if you read back a bit
And lastly, our schedule was announced, we received all our wildcards but unfortunately we had to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia due to scheduling complications but we are still in for the Tour de France - a beastly route this year including a stupendously epic Stage 19 - Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col de la Madeleine, La Plagne!
(profile summary: /\/\/\/ )
Oh and our squad for the Tour Down Under will be revealed soon...
This week's rating: (2/5)

Good news fans!
My manager has given me my season schedule, and it's truly fantastic! I'm very happy with it and can't wait to do my first professional race. Almost all the races suit me, so I really hope I can help the team where needed. I even got quite a few World Tour races!
Here is the list I got:
Tour Down Under
Volta ao Algarve
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Strade Bianche
Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde
GP Miguel Indurain
Paris-Roubaix
Brabantse Pijl
Amstel Gold Race
La Fleche Wallonne
Liege-Bastogne-Liege
GP Frankfurt
4 Jours de Dunkerque
Ronde Van Belgie
Quinghai Lake Road
Tour de Pologne
Ljubljana-Zagreb
Gran Piemonte
Giro dell'Emilia
Paris-Tours
Tour of Beijing
Tour de Vendee
Looking good, right? I'll do my best to help the team here, I think we should go for promotion to the World Tour, so I can ride even more classics! But that means I need to improve and keep up the training. So grabbing my bike again!

Hey fans!
I'm at the airport, typing this thing out. I just wanted to let you know that I'm about to board a plane to Australia! Not for vacation, but even better! I got selected to ride the Tour Down Under!
It's a pretty hard race to start with of course, but I think I can handle it. My job it to make sure our team leaders get to where they are supposed to be. On the flat, that will of course be Jay-Jay. On Willunga Hill, Paul Martens will be our man. In both cases I think I wil be able to offer my assistance until the final kilometres, but we'll see.
I really like the course, nothing too high and no time trials. I might even try a breakaway to get some pressure off the team. Then again, I don't think we should control too much, that's for the World Tour teams with the big names. Yet with Rojas, we could snatch away a stage win, and I would be very proud if I could help with that!

TIME TO REVEAL SOME MORE STARTLISTS!
As many other teams have been doing recently, we thought that we would join the trend in releasing our startlists for the next few races early, just so the fans can have a sneak preview
TOUR OF QATAR
José JoaquÃn Rojas leads the charge again as the team looks to win a stage here. The rest of the team will be lead-outs plus Kadri and Gretsch, in Qatar so that we stand a fighting chance in the TTT
Leader/Sprinter: José JoaquÃn Rojas
Free Element: Blel Kadri
Free Element: Marcus Burghardt
Team-mate: Patrick Gretsch
Team-mate: Takashi Miyazawa
Team-mate: Yusuke Hatanaka
TOUR OF OMAN
A similar race to Qatar, but replace the TTT with a mountain stage and you have Oman! Hubert Dupont leads the charge, looking to do well on the mountain stage while sprinting duties will be handed over to our talented understudies Rüdiger Selig and Anuar Manan
Leader: Hubert Dupont
Sprinter: Rüdiger Selig
Sprinter: Anuar Manan
Free Element: Blel Kadri
Team-mate: Shinri Suzuki
Team-mate: Miyataka Shimizu
Look out for more startlists - Algarve and Langkawi are the next I think

Hello fans!
It was a fantastic day for me today, my first race ever. My job was to stay with Jay-Jay (as we call him) Rojas and it went well. He was constantly giving orders: "Get me to the front", "Protect me from the side wind" or "Get one of those Japs to get us drinks". Not the most fun job I guess, but I didn't mind. I'm just happy to be here already.
I have to say the difference with amateur races is huge. They set an incredible pace in the last kilometres, it was hard for me to keep up. Yet Rojas had one more order for me: "Get me to that ING train!".
So with one last push I got him to the front, passing several riders struggling to keep up. Had to do a bit of pushing to get in between, but there we were, in Veenhof's wheel. Now it was really getting to hectic for me, so I bailed out, as my job was done. I freewheeled a bit back and ended up safe in the middle of the pack.
Of course I was still watching the sprint. Today was not the day for us, as Greipel grabbed the win with power. We got 6th place, which is pretty good for a CT team. But we're not finished yet, we're going for more!

Hey fans,
Best day of my life? I wouldn't go that far. But it was amazing! It started this morning, when I told the manager my legs were feeling good. He was like "ok, we'll give you a free role today". I started the race with a big smile on my face.
That would change as we approached the finish. Everyone was attacking, I wasn't even sure who was in front most of the time. I know Paul Martens attacked at some point, but he fell back. More attacks came and went, but it felt like it would be suicide to join them. So I just tried to follow as good as I could, and it was going well. Suddenly we were at 5 km from the line, and I was still hanging in!
But then the big guys fired away, Ballan, Voigt and a few others. I couldn't follow those, so I settled in the wheel of Dries Devenyns, knowing his experience would get me safe to the line. But Dries was really pushing it and we were passing many people, including some big names. I just followed and followed, until I saw the finish line! Gilbert was already celebrating, but where was everyone else?
I tried my best to hang on as everyone launched their final sprint. It was a good result, I was sure of it, but I couldn't tell exactly where. After the finish line, my manager told me I managed top 10, unbelievable! This was a very hard stage and I was 10th! I earned points for the team! World Tour points even!
Then came the biggest shock of them all. My manager told me there was a small formality waiting at the podium. I didn't know what to expect, so when the race official asked me "Vairbooven? White Jersey?" I was too stunned to reply. I don't remember much of it, but apperently he grabbed me by the arm and pushed me on the stage.
Ok, all the guys of the team were laughing when they saw me, and I can't blame them. I almost tripped when climbing on the stage, fumbled with my jersey as I put it on and looked shocked when suddenly receiving kisses from 2 hot aussie beauties (where did they come from?).
It was then I fully realised what just happened and I started cheering as if I had just won the Tour de France. I started hugging the local politicians rather then shaking hands with them. Anyway, it was quite embarrasing, but as a neo-professional cyclist, I'm sure you can all forgive me, right after having you laugh.

Hey fans,
It was a good day today, riding in the white jersey. Got some camera attention, so the sponsors will be happy! The manager told me I could defend it, so I got another free role today. So I spent the day in the peloton, leaving Jay-Jay in the hands of someone else. Unfortunately it didn't go too well for him today, and he couldn't get the result from stage one.
Myself, I narrowly avoided a big crash, including my buddy from yesterday, Dries Devenyns and some other people in front of me in the GC. While I felt sorry for Dries, I managed to sneak into the top 10 with those people falling away. I'm already dreaming, but realisticly speaking, Willunga Hill is too long for me. But I still have the White Jersey, and I will definitely do my best to keep that one!

Hey fans!
Another great day for the team, we got the victory we were looking for!
It was rather predictable it would be Rojas who would get the first team victory, but to do it in a World Tour race, that was a surprise. But then again, we won't be riding that many WT races, so we were really trying to get a stage win here, and we did.
It was a more hectic race than yesterday, as the hill in the final made it exciting. No real attack, but a few teams were setting a hard pace to lose some sprinters. Of course Jay-Jay can handle a hill, and we were protecting him well. In the end it was just a matter of bringing him in position so he called me and he pointed at a rider near the front: "Veenhof!"
I knew what that meant, so I gestured that he should follow me and I brought him into Veenhof's wheel. My white jersey was safe, so I left the sprinters to do their thing, and watch from a nice distance. Incredible how that hill broke the other sprinters but he was pretty much unaffected. It was a very impressive victory, and I couldn't help but cheering myself as I corssed the line. We did it!
Tomorrow is Willunga hill day, and I have to say I'm a bit scared. It's much longer then the hills we have in Flanders. I'll do my best to defend my jersey, but I know it's going to be very hard.

BRINGING YOU UP-TO-DATE WITH STARTLISTS!
With the season getting off to a flier so far with a stage win already from J-J Rojas and also with our great young talent Rudy Verboven in the white jersey Down Unda, it's time to reveal a couple more startlists of upcoming races
VOLTA AO ALGARVE
The team has sent a fairly weak team to the Algarve, but still some strong riders there. Verboven will look to carry on the form from the TDU to Portugal and will have a free role. Paul Martens will be our GC man here.
Leader: Paul Martens
Free Element: Rudy Verboven
Free Element: Stefano Pirazzi
Team-mate: Marcus Burghardt
Team-mate: Tomohiro Hayakawa
Team-mate: Taiji Nishitani
TOUR DE LANGKAWI
A race that eats up many days in riders' calendar, and is therefore rather unpopular. Local boy Anuar Manan is looking for a stage win in his home race, and will hopefully be ably assisted. Hubert Dupont will reprise his role from Oman, with Gretsch looking for a podium place in the prologue
Leader: Hubert Dupont
Sprinter: Anuar Manan
Free Element: Shinichi Fukushima
Team-mate: Patrick Gretsch
Team-mate: Rudiger Selig
Team-mate: Yusuke Hatanaka
Donkey Kong's been fairly quiet recently, but I assure you, he's working hard providing all the team with bananas in the sweltering heat of Australia

Hello fans,
So, now I know what it feels like to defend a GC. It's really surprising how much more motivation and power it can give you. I was pretty much dead after the first Willunga Hill due to my crazy countrymen from Lierse - Pizza Ullo and their insane pace. But in the downhill, I got some help from Paul Martens, he attacked earlier but was brought back in. He just said, ok I'll get you back where you should be.
He brought me back to the front and protected me for most of the hill, until the attacks came. Then I was on my own again. Like last time, I was just going to follow someone who knew what he was doing. I found Ballan, if you can win Ronde van Vlaanderen, you know what you are doing. I loved it, he wasn't trying to get away, but just setting a good pace s he was nearly killing me, but not quite killing me. The pack was being reduced, people were falling to the back. Would I be able to repeat my success from stage 2?
Yes we can! 10th on the stage, 9th on the GC and safe in the white jersey! If I don't do anything stupid tomorrow, I'm going to be very very very happy!
