Omega Pharma - Quickstep | In Argentina
Schleck96
Costa!!!! Fuc* YEAH! Good result for Gerald Wink

PCM rulezz
@ TomC: He really was too strong. 3rd is a very good result.
@ Ian Butler: We can't win this race with boni seconds. As krzychu92 said there aren't enough in the last stage. But we can still win another sprint Pfft
@ krzychu92: I think you are correct about the boni's Pfft Our second place in GC is surely something to be proud off.
@ Schleck96: I can image that you are happy with Costa as you live in Portugal Pfft

I will play the last stage later today so you can expect the report and the preview of The tour of San Luis in the evening.
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

If you finish the race with the three riders in the top ten, then it will have been a great race for the team Wink

I cannot see Ciolek gaining the 24s back on the last stage, but you never know though Wink

Santos Tour Down Under

Stage 6: Adelaide City Council Street Circuit (93.3 km)
Profile and situation before the start
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/6profile.jpg
The last stage of this year Santos Tour Down Under. The fight for the leader jersey is over so our main goal is to win this stage and to take home at least one jersey.

The race
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/61.jpg
There were a lot of attacks in the first kilometres of the race, too much to mention actually. But after the first climb (where Brammeier took 6 points and secured his Skoda KOM jersey) there was a stable situation. S. Langenveld was in the front followed by H. Clarke who was chased by a group of 5 (P. Urtasun, S. Pauwels, H. Haussler, M. Brammeier and R. Ferrari).
M. Brammeier wasn’t able to take any points at the sprints.
On the last mountain sprint he rode away with Haussler and reached H. Clarke. On the climb, Brammeier took another 6 points. But the trio wasn’t able to reach Langenveld. The 3 other were quickly back in the peloton.
With 10 km to go everything was back together.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/62.jpg
That was again to moment to start our lead-out train. The tempo was extremely high.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/63.jpg
And that causes a big crash. Luckily, there were no injuries and to 10 ten of GC escaped unhurt.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/64.jpg
But this time we were not so lucky. Cavendish won the sprint with ease, Ciolek only becomes 3rd after Y. Hutarovich.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Santos%20Tour%20down%20under%202012/65.jpg
But at least we won 2 jerseys: the Jayco points jersey and the Skoda KOM jersey. That’s is a well deserved present for M. Brammeier who rode almost every stage in the BOTD. Good job.

Concusion
Today’s result is still great. But when you have won 2 stages you always want to win a 3rd. But that’s is cycling, you can’t order a victory.
We are extremely happy for M. Brammeier, what a race for him. He was involved in an accident in November 2007, when he was struck by a cement mixing lorry whilst training. He broke both his legs. And now he has won 2 jerseys in a world tour race, congratulations man.
With 2 stage wins, 2 jerseys and 3 riders in the top 10 of GC it’s a become a much better week than we could expect.

So, this were my first reports ever. Are there some issues that I have to better? Is my reporting style good? .... I'm open for every point of improvement.

I know I said that the preview for San luis was for yesterday, but I promisse that it will be up today. Probably after the Clasica San Sebastian (irl Pfft).

Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

I have to say that i have totally enjoyed your reporting style for the Tour Down Under Wink

Your overall story was a clean and easy to follow report which i like, so from me its a big thumbs up

krzychu92
Young rider classification and team class are little messy... Movistar who won team class is on the 13th place and second Sky is on 7th...it's probably class from last stage.

But if I must say something about your reporting style: It's cool for me.

Ian Butler
It's very good, I like it.
Maybe put names of (your) riders in bold or in a color?

Nice result in Australia, 2 beautiful jerseys!

@ sutty68: Glad you enjoyed my reporting style. I'm not good in languages at all so it's sometimes a problem to express myself in english. Thanks for the thumb Pfft
@ krzychu92: you are correct about the classification. But I don't know how to correct them Frown Sad
@ Ian Butler: I copy my reports form MS Word so I don't read them here, that's why all is in black. It takes too much time (and I don't have much time) to re read everything and make some names blue, I hope you don't mind. Yeah I realy like the KOM jersey (in every race) so that's why Brammeier was so much in the breaks. The sprint jersey is nice extra, and it's even better that he won it without winning a stage. Ooh yeah, you know what to do in your story now to make me happy Pfft Just kidding, your story is awesome.

Preview: Tour de San Luis

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/Logo.jpg

The Tour de San Luis is a 7 day stage race in Argentina more actually in the province San Luis (where else Pfft). This is only the 6th edition of this race and the V. Nibali is the only well-know name between the previous winners, the others are Jorge Giacinti (ARG), Martín Garrido (ARG), Alfredo Lucero (ARG) and Marco Arriagada (CHI). But this year, there is chance for another famous name as winner. We will sent a strong squad to argentina to fight for the GC. Here is our selection:
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/Sanluisselection.png
For those who noticed it: it’s the same team as irl)

Sportdirectors:
1st: D. Bramati
2nd: Thomas (me)
Leiphemer and Chavanel will fight for the GC, Boonen and Chicchi will contest the sprints and Rabon and Grabsch will do most of the hard work to make this possible.
But there are other riders who will try to win this race. The biggest name is without doubt J. Brajkovic. He is a good climber and TT’er, so he is a man to look after. In the sprints we will look after O. Gatto and M. Cardoso, they are both fast in the last 100m of a race. But there are some other sprinters who will try to beat Boonen, like M. Kreder, M. Abel Richeze, ...
Movistar and Garmin – Sharp has both a great team at the start. They could also go for the GC with G. Visconti and D. Zabriskie

Hello everybody
I don’t know how late it is in your country but here in Argentina is time to go to the start of the race. I’m so excited to start this race, it’s my first for the team. Our web designer has already posted our selection on the site so you can see that we have a very strong team. But I have to tell you that Leipheimer isn’t in his best shape. We hope he can survive the second stage and do a good TT. Chava, on the other site, has showed some good form on the training rides, nobody was able to follow him when the terrain goes up. Maybe he is our best hope for the GC. But we chose Leipheimer as our leader because he had more experience.
Today we will work for Tommeke (Boonen) or Chicchi. Chicchi has won this stage back in 2010, it was the same arrival as today. We will decide in the race who will do the sprint.

I have an nice extra for you guys: I will send some small interview to our web designer so he can post them for you. Hope you like them.
But for now I have to go, Bramati is waiting for me.
I will do another blog after the 3rd stage.
See you then.
Thomas

Tour de San Luis

Stage 1: San luis – Justo Daract (166.0 km)
Profile
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/1profile.jpg
This is an “easy” stage to start this race. We can only go for one thing: the stage victory. As said before we will decide in the race who will do the sprint. We are not interested to be part of the BOTD because we will have to use all our riders in the sprint (preparation)

The race
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/11.jpg
All our riders are together at the start of the race. You can see our 3 stars in the center of the picture. Chava in the French champion, beside him is Boonen and in front of them is Leipheimer.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/12.jpg
The BOTD is formed at the feet of the climb. It are 9 riders and only one of them is a world tour rider: A. Bazajev. Another rider who is part of this break is the Estonian champion M. Ojavee. He will win the first intermediate sprint later on the stage. The mountain sprint goes to C. Fairly, he will were the mountain jersey tomorrow.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/13.jpg
In the peloton, we and Movistar are doing the pace. The riders for Movistar are N. Quintana, J. Moreno and A. Madrazo, for our team it’s F. Rabon.
Meanwhile, we had decided that Boonen would be our sprinter today (because of his better form of the day).

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/14.jpg
But when we came closer to the finish B. Grabsch started to help. This is a picture taken with 46 km to go, the gap is 3’48”.
For the record, Bazayev wins the 2nd sprint.
With 15 km to go, we had to sacrifice Leipheimer because the break was still in front.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/15.jpg
With 4 km, the alliance between Movistar and OPQS was over. We are working for Boonen and Movistar for Visconti. But there are still 2 riders in front with a 20” lead.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/16.jpg
But it wasn’t enough. In the last kilometres they were reeled back in and the sprint started (don’t know if this sentence is correct). Chicchi was leading out Boonen but there came a lot sprinter from behind. Boonen get boxed in but he found a small hole, dived in it and WON.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/17.jpg
Boonen was very happy with his first win of the season as you can see on the picture.

Conclusion
Good result today. Boonen showed the world that he is still a sprinter. When he was boxed in, he took a massive risk to dive in that hole but he did it very well. Boonen is also the first who will wear the leader jersey but if he can hold it is another question. We hope he can give it to Chava or Leipheimer.

Reaction Boonen
I wanted to test my legs today but I stayed calm until the last 300m. There was a bit of panic when I was boxed in but then I saw that there was some space between Visconti and that guy of Endura Racing (R. Mandri) and the rest is history.
Tomorrow is another stage, an uphill finish. My legs feel good, I will try to hold on as long as possible and we will see where it ends.

Reaction Leipheimer
First of all, when you are with 6 riders in a team it’s hard to control a race. So when the team asked me if I wanted to help Tom I didn’t think twice. He will do the same for me, I think. I glad for him that he won the stage, so we will have a nice evening today.
Tomorrow will be hard, the condition isn’t that good. I hope I can survive so that I can decide after the TT if I go for a good GC.

Sorry for this wall of text but the motivation is actually really high Pfft

Great win from Boonen today Wink

He will be the first wearer of the Leaders jersey in Argentina, very nice Smile

krzychu92
Tornado Tom is back! I don't know why but I really like this guy Smile I hope he can win another stage or two in this race. And I hope the next race leader will be from OPQS too.

Great win by Boonen, may he win many more this season Grin

@ sutty68: It's always great if Tommeke wins Pfft The leader jersey is realy nice. The last time I played San Luis there weren't original jersey in the game, but with this database there are the real jersey so it's even better now Grin (Thanks to the one who made them)
@ krzychu92: I hope he is, i really like him too. You should watch the video in my signature Pfft. I will do my best to defend the jersey
@ Ian Butler: Thanks, I hope he will win more this season.

Tour de San luis

Stage 2: La Punta – El Trapiche (168.5 km)
Profile and situation before the start
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/2profile.jpg
Let me start with a fact about the slot climb: 4.3 km at an average percentage of 7.4%. That’s a hard climb so early in the season if you ask me. Chava and Levi are our hopes for the stage victory.
We have the leaderjersey so we will have to control the peloton.

The race
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/21.jpg
This is a picture taken a few kilometres into the race and like you can even in Argentina there are some supporters for “La machine”.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/22.jpg
In the race, 2 groups of 4 riders escaped out the peloton. Not much later they came together. The names are: J. Chacon (Andalucia), D. Boily (SpiderTech), P. De Negri (Farnese), M. Rubiano (Androni), A. Dyachenco (Astana), A. Varobyev (Itera – Katusha), A. Ershov (RusVelo) and P. Voss (Endura).
P. Voss won the 2 intermediate sprints and De Negri won the 2 mountain sprints.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/23.jpg
It ware again Movistar and OPQS who were in charge of the peloton. At a certain point, 5 riders of movistar were at the front, they had a lot of faith in Visconte obviously.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/24.jpg
In the background, you can see the final climb of today.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/25.jpg
Leader our not, Tom Boonen showed that he is a great teamplayer and help his team in the pursuit.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/26.jpg
The peloton calcutate correct and they reeled them in at the foot of the final climb. Chava, Leipheimer and Boonen were the first on the climb. Boonen couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the Flemish flag. It gave him a lot of motivation for the rest of the remaining 4km.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/27.jpg
Visconti was the first who opened the fire. Chava decide to stay on his saddle and rode his own tempo while Leipheimer hadn’t the legs to follow the top riders and was e few metres back. But Chava made the wrong decision.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/28.jpg
He came close but too late. Visconti celebrates his first victory of the season while Chava is 12” behind.

Conclusion
Chava in only 20” back in GC and there are still 2 mountain stages and a TT to come. I would say: we lost a battle but not the war. Leipheimer is also not for behind so with a good TT is everything possible. Boonen did a great job today, he came to the car for water bottles, did his part of the job in the pursuit and finished in the top 10. How strong is he?

I could myself hit in the face: first mountain stage and I forget to export the results. Sorry guys Sad

Reaction Chavanel
What a hard climb, so steep. I was happy that it is over. 2nd is good but not good enough. I had the legs to follow Visconti but I decide to rode my own tempo. Now I’m looking forward to the TT, I know I can go 20” faster than Visconti in a normal situation but he is really strong now, so we will see. Other competitors? No It will be a battle between Visconti and me I think. Maybe also Leipheimer if he can ride a good TT, but he isn’t in a good form so we will see.
Tomorrow is back for Tom, and yes, I will help him. He did the same for me today, he really is a great guy.

TomC
Visconti was too strong for Chava, but it's not the last stage Wink

Spilak23
Great start to the season in Australia. 2 stage wins and a 2nd place in the overal ranking are very good for Ciolek. Keep that level up in San Luis but that won't be hard with such a strong team!

sutty68
Three in the top ten on stage two, Great team play Smile

Ian Butler
Nice going! (You better change your thread title though)

PCM rulezz
@ TomC: yes he was/is, there are indeed still some opportunities to take some time.
@ Spilak23: Nice to see you here Grin Australia was really great indeed and here in San Luis the team is doing very well.
Sutty68: Thanks (TT will be better Pfft)
@ Ian Butler: Thanks for reminding Wink

Tour de San Luis

Stage 3: Buena Esperanza – Villa Mercedes (163.0km)
Profile and situation before the start
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/3profile.jpg
We don’t expect any changes in the GC. Boonen is our bet for the stage win today.

The race
Until the final, nothing special happened. There was 3 man breakaway (E. Montonari, C. Fairly and J. Engoulvent) who rode in front for the entire day. At 15km from the finish they get company from R. Navardauskas. But with 7km to go, nobody could avoid a mass sprint.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/31.jpg
Chavanel brought Chicchi and Boonen to the front with 3 km to go. But Mandori (the Endura rider) smashed Boonen out of Chicchi’s wheel. Movistar with Visconti was a bit behind the rest.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/32.jpg
But nothing could stop the Tornado today. The last metres were very heavy but Boonen could hold it and celebrates his 2nd victory this week.

Conclusion
It was a boring day, but in the end it turned out as we had planned. Luckely, Visconti didn’t take any boni second in the sprint.

Stage 4: San Luis ITT (19.5km)
Profile and situation before the start
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/4results.jpg
The only thing that we can do today is to take as much as possible time away from Visconti. We also can try to win this TT. With men like Leipheimer, Chavanel and Grabsch we have rider who can do well on this course.

The race
i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/41.jpg
B. Grabsch was the first one for our team out on course. As a the German TT NC and ex world champion he can do very well.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/42.jpg
At the finish he was 41” faster than the previous besttime. He sets a team of 25’33”.
The time stands a long time on the tables.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/43.jpg
But Zabriskie was the first who broke it. He was 21” faster then Grabsch

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/44.jpg
Also J. Brajkovic came really close but he wasn’t faster than Zabriskie.
But J. Castroviejo was the strongest today, he sets the fastest time at the 1st time check and at the finish. Could he hold it?

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/46.jpg
Leipheimer was our next hope for a new best time. But he failed, only came 6th.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/45.jpg
Chavanel had another problem. Visconti was faster than him at the first time check.

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Tour%20de%20San%20Luis/47.jpg
But with a fantastic 2nd part of the race, he was 14” faster than the GC leader. Not enough to take the lead but the gap is only 6” now.
Castroviejo is the winner of the first TT of the year (Australian NC TT not in count)

Conclusion
No stage win today, but with only 6” in GC is everything still possible. We saw also a brilliant Tom Boonen, he was faster than Visconti so he extends his lead in the point competition.

3rd blog

i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s428/VoetsT/Myblog.jpg

Hallo to all.
I’m really enjoying me week here in Argentina. I have drunk a lot of champagne thanks to Tom. He is masterful in the sprints. Yesterday was close but he did it and he looks really motivated.
Chavanel is only busy with one thing: “how can a beat Visconti”. But we have a plan and Chave said that he will give it a try.
Did you notice how strong movistar is at the beginning of the season? Costa in Australia (2 stages and GC) and 2 stage here (Visconti and Castroviejo), were does this end.

I know I told you that my 2rd blog would be after the 3rd stage. But I didn’t had the time, I got a strange phone call out Belgium. But I’m not allowed to tell you what is was, it was top secret they said. But I can tell you that I’m really proud that they called me.
This is it for now.
See you guys later
Thomas

I forgot to export the result of the 2 stages again. I really need to find something to help me remember it.

Forgetting to export can be a real pain in the ass. I exported every stage of the Giro in my story, but I forgot to export the 21th stage! what a bummer Pfft
