I love strategy games. Sadly due to a lack of time and money I can't play them often. CIV 5 is my all time favourite though, that's the game where I spend the most time on (600+ hours according to Steam ) together with PCM.
Total war is also awesome. I played Shogun a few times and I got Napoleon from a friend who gives me driving lessons, but sadly it doesn't work.
I also play Victoria II (great game, only a bit complicated) and EndWar. I'd like to play Ruse as well. I also like to play Risk irl.
And I don't know if it counts as a strategy game but I like Spore as well, it was the first game that I bought myself.
EUIV is going to be amazing! Real danger of spending my summer conquering and colonizing.
I wonder if they're going to include a CKII-EUIV converter. Would create some massive wars between empires.. sounds fun.
Well I tried to play EUIII thanks to Paradox Newsletter Giveaway but couldn't get a grip on that one.. So I would rather have Hearts of Iron 4 For waiting for West vs. East
Team Bianchi - 2012 Man-Game ProContinental Tour Champions
EUIV should be also more open to newbies in the series and easier to get a grip on, while still deep enough for veterans off series (like myself) .
It seems that developers got that balance right, according to first reviews.

They certainly did, even if the map hasn't got anywhere near as many provinces as it needs. I've been playing Paradox Games since EUII (with EUIII being my favourite) and I can already safely say that this is one of the best, if not the absolute best, that they have released.
I finished tutorial and i am ready to play beginners Spanish campaign to see what changed. So far, not much, everything is similar, but polished to brilliance, the game looks like absolute masterpiece to me. Every info you need is nicely visible, everything is perfectly connected, i will dig deeper to new trade system and improved religious things to see how it works.
If i will not find any major flaws in next days, this can become the best strategy game ever for me, challenging old Civilization. Of course there can be more provinces and so, but this will be solved by expected mods, which will improve the experience even more.
Paradox should make the lessons how produce the games with not enormous budget, Cyanide should use some of these.
"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong
For Rome2? I am not so pumped, as it is like 15th game in the series and all are very similar. I prefer EU as more complex, of course you dont have thiose detailed fights on the battlefield there.
I will try it for sure, but i always played it for weeks max, not months.

Have been playing about 100 years in my Aragon campaign.
The game is really, really good. The interface is just so much better than EUIII. You can take any action quite easily without having to click through endless menus. So it's much more newcomer friendly imo.
I love the new national ideas as every country has now a more distinct identity than before I think.. 200% core creation cost on Berber countries makes you think twice before invading North Africa. New trade system is a real improvement, it's possible to get A LOT of money with the right idea and strategy.
The game still needs balancing (France!) and modding... but considering this is the 1.0 version.. job well done. I'm enjoying it at the least
Yep, France is OP, but in the end, it was like that in real too.
And tell me about North Africa, i started as Portugal (i always dofirst game there, to test trade and exploration) and Morroco/Granada/Algiers are kicking my ass in war for Tangiers, but even worse are rebels. Man, they are so overpowered, i just got 13k stack jump on me and crushing my Armada Real led by AlfonsoV himself and besieged Ceuta. Time to reload?
But i love it, trade looks great, i will steer it later from South America and India through Cape.

I am envious you already have the game Avin I'll have to wait till September to get it. Looking forward to it.
Also, another timless classic is re-made. Stronghold Crusader has been my favoruite strategy game when I was younger. However other games in series since Crusader has been crap, especially tha latest Stronghold 3.
Howver Firefly took notice and listed to the fans a lot more since then, at least that's what they say. Here's a trailer. Preety excited, but still I don't think it will come even close to the orginal.
P.S. On holidays with a shitty laptop and installed another classic. Oh my, how I missed it. Heroes 3 is still such an amazing game!
Cool, I think I'm going to buy Stronghold Crusader 2.
Stronghold 2 was just awesome to me. Played that game a lot. It wasn't the best game ever, neither graphics nor great strategy(though it was decent), but for some reason, I've had a lot of fun with that game
This deal is definately worth checking out if yoou're intereste in Paradox games, I'd imagine some of you already own some of those games but it's worth a look anyway.
Paradox have announced new game 'Project Armstrong'. Finally a worthy challenger to PCM! Doping is one of main features of the game too!
Spoiler
Okay..not really.. Although they did announce Project Armstrong, a new game that will be confirmed in few days. Most likely a 4X space strategy which would be awesome, but it could be something else of course.

Okay, now i'm curious: what is EU? Would anybody still recomend buying it, after about half a year now?
Now i would recommend it even more mate, as the new expansion is coming out "Conquest of Paradise", where you will be able to randomize New World (and play native american tribes),so exploration should be doouble fun now, every time different shape of American continent. Also the game is patched now, so it is even better than on the start.
Basically it is the strategy game, where you rule the country from 1445 (or later date) till 1800, governing armies, religion, diplomacy, colonizing, social policies and so. With real history milestones as the spicing...
But small warning. Game is pretty hard to get used to, but once you get it in you veins, there is no such a game on a market. If you like history or grand strategies, this is game for you. I would recommend trying it, i can help you with anything if you were lost in the game or need some advice.
